I am very laid back and friendly, and I want you or your child to be as comfortable as possible during our lessons. You or your child will develop confidence and musical intelligence. I will make your lessons fun, enjoyable, and effective. Boredom is not an option! Music is fun... let's keep it that way.

The teaching methods I use will be custom-tailored to your individual needs, personality and specific musical goals. If it's guitar or piano you want to learn, I want to get you playing exactly what you want to be playing as soon as possible. That's what you're here for, and that's what I'm here for. I will make it happen. If it's songwriting that you want to learn, I will help you access that place inside of you that is dying to express itself creatively, and will teach you techniques to harness that energy and translate it successfully into musical expression.

You can expect to learn all the basics of music theory, proper playing techniques, improvisation and spontaneous musical expression, and I will help you develop your "ear" so you can figure out songs you like just by listening to them. This is all about you and your goals, and I want you to achieve them in a fun and engaging way.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room: Upright piano, guitars, amps, keyboard, percussion

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in pop, rock, classical, jazz, blues, folk, fingerstyle (guitar), etc. I also teach improvisation and songwriting, and try to develop the student's ear for figuring out songs they like on their own.

About Chris
My name is Chris B. and I've been playing music for most of my life.

The best lesson that I've personally learned is that a musician is never done learning. Once you start believing that you know everything there is to know about your instrument then you've stopped growing musically. Personally, I've also learned that I enjoy sharing my knowledge of music with others and exposing students to new techniques and concepts.

I strongly believe that these traits are the most important aspects of teaching music to others. No matter how advanced my playing skills might progress, I’ll always be able to relate to any type of student because I’m still learning something new everyday!

I'm a professional trombonist with a strong musical background: I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance - Trombone from City College of New York and Im currently working on my masters at NYU. I have several years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels, and I have been working as a freelancer since I was 17.

I originally arrived in NYC from Argentina at 9-years old. The rich musical environment of NYC allowed me to study and absorb all styles of music at a young age.

I have had the opportunities to study with trombone masters such as Michael Dease, Jason Jackson, Alan Ferber, Ed Neumiester and Wycliffe Gordon. These learning experiences directly affect the development of my students.

I currently play in a wide range of musical situations all over NYC, from jazz combos and big bands, to musicals and c
lassical orchestras and even other genres such as Salsa, Reggea, Ska, Rock, Pop etc.

As my student, you will develop critical skills that will help build a strong musical foundation which will define you as a musician. I will evaluate the level in which you currently are and provide a clear defined path in order to reach our goals.
One thing I strongly focus on is your love for music. My goal is not only to see you progress, but to nourish your love of music and have fun with what you are working on.

I can't wait to work with you and help you reach your goals!

I am an internationally-produced composer and lyricist, with over 15 years of experience in musical theater and composition. I have studied at Juilliard and the Tony Award-winning BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop, and hold a Master of Music degree in Composition from Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. I am an energetic champion of new music, and a founding member of NYC's Composers Collective. I bring a lot of enthusiasm to my lessons, and love helping my students to grow their understanding of the inner workings of music and lyrics!

Songwriting and Composition students can expect to learn building blocks to help them understand musical structure while developing their own voice. I am passionate about craft in lyric writing, and songwriting students will learn about scansion, rhyme schemes, and how to structure a song to mak
e it catchy and memorable. I love working with students to take classic songs and pieces apart and figure out what makes them work, and to then help students use these techniques to make their own work soar!

Music Theory students can expect to learn the mechanics of music in a fun, upbeat setting, and develop their understanding of the music theory through familiarity with the keyboard, notation, and fun composition exercises.

I look forward to working with you!
