Students of all ages in a personal relaxed atmosphere.
Customized to each student. If the student has not previously taken lessons I use Piano Adventures as the basic course guide. I have found it the most productive and enjoyable for my students. I uses a minimum of the Lesson and Theory book for my younger students with either the basic course or Accelerated course depending on their age and maturity. Adults begin with the All In one adult book. I add the other books that accompany each level based on the particular students needs and interests. I believe that a good grounding in Theory is essential as a student who becomes proficient in sight reading, no matter how well he/she plays by ear, will find that the doors for lifetime musical fulfillment with be much wider. However, with a student who has already had some lessons I will be happy to continue with any method that the student is currently using.
I also believe in supplementing the Piano course with the student's favorite ...

An experienced guitar player of 15 years. Especially good with beginners including both very young and older students. It's never too early or late to start playing! Will cater a specific personal lesson plan to your desires to make sure we move at YOUR best pace. We'll build a solid foundation so that you can learn how to teach yourself and continue to grow and love music long after these lessons. We can get you up and running with your favorite tunes or start delving into the musical theory side of things. I make sure that our lessons are fun but also challenging and I make sure we spend some time learning how to build finger strength, how to improvise, and (most importantly) how to play with other musicians!

1. I'll actively track your progress outside of lessons and make sure that you're extremely confident/prepared for your next big performance.
2. I'll also show you various techniques that could be used on a daily basis to preserve your vocals and avoid strain whether you're just talking or actually performing.
3. Lastly, I'll make sure that you're consistently on top of your nutrition (what you eat & drink) to maintain positive air flow whenever you're singing.

In music recording lessons, we will focus on learning Pro Tools, Logic, or Cubase . I'll teach you how to use standard industry plug-ins such as Waves, Universal Audio, and virtual instruments in a hands-on setting. I provide students with editing exercises and songs to mix and master that we will work through together. Hello! My name is Rebekah and I am excited to teach piano to you! I am almost done with my Bachelors in music and I have had experience teaching beginner to late intermediate students.
Here are some things you can expect from my lessons:
*I believe in student-driven lessons. Each person is unique, and the best way to get musical results is to try to understand the student, rather than follow a cookie-cutter mold. My driving philosophy of music is that it is meant to be brought out of a person, not driven into them.
*I believe in a underlying basis of theory in music lessons, so that each student understands the why and how, not just the what.
*As a younger teacher and a student myself, I understand more how to speak to younger students. I know the ups and downs of the life of a full-time student, and I want to work with each schedule and each person in the way best for them.
*I will push people technically, but gently. I want high quality results, but not at the expense of the ...

Ben Kawsky has an amazing gift for developing the voice from shrill animal sounds into a vocal orchestra! I highly recommend him."
Where do I begin?...
I am a musician of 15 years – with a background in composition, vocal performance, piano technic, percussion, production, etc. I have worked with several different vocal instructors throughout my lifetime. I have been a solo artist for 2 years at Pledge Empire Records while studying at McNally Smith College of Music for 2+ years before moving to Los Angeles, CA.
To say the least,
the day I started working with Deanna is the day I became a REAL musician.
Looking back at my previous experiences as a musician, pianist and especially a vocalist; I am disappointed that I didn't know Deanna sooner!
I've taken lessons from so many teachers over the years but Deanna was the only one that worked for me. She will tell you the truth, she will motivate you and guide you through it all. Being a performer for years, I have always struggled understanding my voice. Deanna explained the technicalities to me so I could understand what I was doing wrong.
She is simply wonderful! I can’t emphasize enough on how much she has helped me develop my skills in singing and as a musician. She’s not only a great teacher, but she is incredibly knowledgeable, talented and humble given the incredible accomplishments she has achieved in the past! Given her experiences, she does so much more than teach you vocal lessons; she shows interest in the type of musician YOU want to become so she can help you reach your own personal goals as an artist. I have never had a teacher (vocal, piano, percussion, etc.) that has ever executed that type of behavior. That alone makes her different from the rest.
What I love (and I mean LOVE) the most about Deanna is that she really listens. She can hear problems so well that her corrections help you get better quickly but also make it very clear for you. She is the most gifted vocal coach I have every had the pleasure working with. I have never met anyone who blends expertise, sensitivity, instinct, and compassion into her students as well as Deanna. It is safe to say, without a teacher like Deanna – I would’ve probably given up my singer career and headed back to my hometown in Minnesota.
Deanna is much more than a vocal teacher… She has been a motivation to me as a musician, such an amazing mentor and I am incredibly proud to say that I have a fantastic relationship with her.
She is flat out, the best vocal coach I’ve ever worked with!
Thank you for everything, Deanna!!
It's an awesome feeling when you start making music! And after you've mastered a few songs, you might even have the itch to start branching out. Here, Doswell, VA teacher Jesse S. answers the question: Once you learn guitar, how easy is it to switch to bass, mandolin, or other stringed instruments? This is a question that I hear frequently in guitar lessons. Most students who start playing guitar will eventually become interested in trying to learn another stringed instrument; but doe …
