About Kathy
About Me: I am an experienced classically trained Pianist who has been playing since the 3rd grade. I enjoy all styles of music and love sharing that enjoyment with my students. I have certification from the State of Missouri that I am proficient in educating beginning Piano students and have continued to expand my knowledge through my participation with local musicians’ groups. I am also working on expanding my instrumental abilities through perfecting my percussion skills and planning to learn guitar.

Experience: I have taught students for over 30 years and have seen many changes in both student’s preferences and the style of Music and instruments preferred. I am comfortable with both traditional pianos and organs and modern electronic keyboards. I have given lessons in my home, my students’ home and retail studios.

Methods & P
hilosphy: I start my students with the John Thompson Piano Course, First Grade Book. I began with this one myself and have found it the most productive and enjoyable for my students. I like to use this in conjunction with the John W. Schaum Note Speller as a good foundation in Music Theory. I believe that a good grounding in Theory is essential as a student who becomes proficient in sight reading, no matter how well he/she plays by ear, will find that the doors for lifetime musical fulfillment with be much wider.

Lesson Style: I also believe that Piano Lessons should be fun. Since I generally teach one on one, lessons can be tailored to each student and I add supplementary material to the Piano course as soon as possible based on the student’s progress and interests. I am willing to add supplementary music in most any genre from current radio hits, to Pop Standards and soundtracks, as well as Holiday Music based on the student’s culture. There is no proper pace as long as the student is willing to practice and is interested in learning. I am always surprised and happy when a student “gets” the language of music and really starts to express himself/herself through the instrument and I always find that my students teach me as much as I teach them

Kathy came to my home for my lesson. She has a very pleasant personality and it is very easy to follow her instructions. She kept the pace up, yet did not overload me. It's been a number of years since I have played and she did an excellent job on getting me back on the keys. I am looking forward to our next lesson.

About Daniela
Hi ! My name is Daniela and I can't wait to meet you!
I have been teaching piano and theory since 1994 and have loved helping my students discover the beautiful world of music. Seeing my students grow into well rounded and educated people that love art, are able to recognize different styles of music, express their feelings and emotions on this wonderful instrument makes me really happy. My students range from people who simply want to learn how to play proficiently as a hobby to students who are considering making music their future career.
I strongly believe that a chance to go on a big stage and play on a great Steinway piano in front of people, makes a big difference in children's lives: teaches them self control, gives them great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Taking part in festivals and piano competitions helps
with building high self esteem even more.
I look forward to helping you and your children to reach your goals!

After my first lesson with Daniela I knew she was the perfect instructor. She was very patient but didn't let you slide when you messed something up. That means a lot as an adult learning to play. If you are looking for an instructor, look no further than Daniela.

Nic has helped me through his extensive knowledge of piano pedagogy, through a classical and contemporary set of music, and his overall upbeat and positive attitude. I would reccomend Nic to anyone who is looking for an outstanding piano teacher; whether they want to take lessons for fun or pursue a career, Nic will help you become the best musician you can be.

About Anna
I grew up surrounded by a musical family and was taught to love music at an early age. I hope to pass on that love of music to any student who walks through my doors.

I have a bachelors degree in piano performance, and have been giving private piano lessons since 2011. I have experience teaching beginning and intermediate piano students of all ages, and am comfortable teaching from a variety of method books. I aim to choose material that will be fun, engaging, and learning appropriate for each individual student. Though my training is classical and I believe this provides a good building block for learning music, I like to incorporate many different styles of music, based on students' interests.

*Please note: I currently teach from my home, and we do own a cat. If you are allergic to cats, please let me know - I am happy to make sur
e the cat is put away during your lesson time and to vacuum/dust as needed.

About Robert
Hello all! My name is Robert Nagle. I have been studying trumpet since age ten. I am currently attending University of Missouri-St. Louis as a music major and will be graduating soon. Throughout the years, I have studied with various applied instructors including the likes of Bob Sousa, and Lisa Blackmore. I have also previously taught trumpet at the “Go Music” store in the Delmar Loop starting out six years ago.
My performance experience spreads far among many various tastes in genres. It ranges between classical, jazz, pop, rock, hip hop, avant garde, and many more. I have studied classical since starting out, and jazz shortly after. I specialize in many sub-categories of jazz and popular music upon performing with many local groups around the area ranging from big band, New Orleans style, smooth jazz, latin, jazz fusion, folk, gospel,
and even some Rn’B. Some groups include St. Louis Big Band, Saint Boogie Brass Band, and also once with Webster U. Community Orchestra.
My method upon any student I have will ultimately be based on what I believe they can develop and/or build according to their foundation. Every foundation (gift) is going to be inherently different in each student. I want all of my students to of course have a firm grasp on fundamentals, but I want each of them more importantly, to thrive in only what is best for their journey as a musician.

About Davis Wilton
Hello fellow guitarist! My name is Davis and I have been playing guitar for twelve years. I have received both classical and modern training and I still take lessons to this day (I never want to stop learning!). I created my first band when I was Junior in high school and have played in a number of bands since then spanning over multiple genres including rock, funk, metal, and folk. I now have my own solo project and I am writing my first solo record. Currently I am focusing on working with beginner and intermediate players. Lessons will be conducted out of my home studio or through TakeLessons Classroom. Whether you are looking to learn your favorite songs, get a grip on music theory, or learn what it takes to write your own songs, I am your guy!

*** Lesson Details ***

One of the first questions I ask a new student is
"what do you want to get out of learning the guitar?" Every student is unique in that every student wants to learn different things about the instrument and learns in different ways. I implicate a goal based approach to teaching/learning the guitar so that every student gets the most they can out of every lesson and has a good time doing so. That being said there are fundamentals in guitar playing technique that I make sure every student learns including knowing the "anatomy" of the guitar, strumming, note names on the fretboard, basic rhythms, etc. I like to use every resource available to me that I can including the internet, guitar books, handouts that I have created, as well as digital audio workstations for creating backing tracks to jam over. I often encourage younger students to take 30-45 minute lessons and students over the age of 14 to take 45 minute lessons at a minimum.

*** Studio Equipment ***

My studio is located in the finished basement of my home in St. Charles, MO. I have electric and acoustic guitars that students are welcome to play on during our lessons if they do not want to bring their own. I also have amplifiers, guitar pedals (so much fun!), an interface, DAW's, music stands, metronome, and more that are incorporated into most lessons. Parents of students are welcome to relax in the lounge area located right next to my studio (don't hesitate to ask for coffee or tea!). I also have basic supplies for creating a custom guitar binder/folder for every student to take home and practice with. All handouts are available in digital format for those wishing to learn online through Take Lessons Classroom.

*** Specialties ***

I specialize in teaching modern techniques for both electric and acoustic guitar. My introduction to learning the guitar came in the form of classical guitar lessons so I can also teach the basics of sight reading and classical guitar playing technique, though most lesson will focus on more modern styles of playing. I am well versed in rock, funk, blues, and traditional acoustic playing styles. I also specialize in songwriting and improvisation/jamming.

I also just want to add that I have been playing electric guitar for 10 years and play shows around the St. Louis area at least twice a month... Davis is very capable of teaching even more advanced players.

Not to mention his house and studio are very relaxing and inviting.

I have had some teachers in the past that have made me feel rushed when sitting down to learn. But as we know sometimes it takes a minute to really understand a technique and put it into practice... Davis takes the slow approach, knowing that it takes time to become a knowledgeable player, and he never rushes thru the learning process. I suggest the hour lessons because time flies when you're thinking about so much new information!!

About Brandon
I hold a B.A. in Music from Covenant College, where my instrument of study was the mandolin. I studied for two years under Matt Flinner, winner of the National Mandolin Contest 1991 in Winfield, Kansas.

My particular strength as a player and teacher is on tone and technique. My lessons focus firstly on creating a clean, clear tone, practicing good right hand and left hand technique.

Though I do work with students to play by ear and improvise, I also like to emphasize reading music on the mandolin and understanding music theory. These emphases are balanced according to the particular interests and goals of the particular student. The goal of my teaching is to encourage the student to become a well-rounded musician. This way the student can achieve their current musical goals, but also will have the foundation to pursue additional u
nforeseen goals and interests as they progress.

If the student has interest, I also can teach lessons on mandola and tenor guitar.
