About Jessie

I hold a Masters of Music in Violin Pedagogy from Boise State University. I have been playing the violin for eighteen years. Very knowledgeable and patient. I am learning violin for the first time, and she takes the time to help with proper posture and positioning and technique.

Very patient and professional

Jessie is very patient, professional, flexible. I'm a college student and busy with school work, but I still learned a lot from her, not only in violin skills, but also music theory and so on. She also teaches me how to practice instead of just showing me the pieces.

Gives you confidence in your own abilities

Jessie taught my daughter from June 2011-Dec 2012. She has been an excellent teacher for my 4 year old. It is really a challenge to keep kids focused at this age and Jessie was always up for the challenge. She simplified things down to really basic tasks that the kids can do and more importantly enjoy the learning experience.

During the period our little girl developed the confidence to play in front of a large audience. She could compose her own variations and play it with authority.

Jessie was always on time and professional with her approach. She always brought prints for parents to follow through on the lessons. It made practices at home really simple for us. We could see progress in our daughter's abilities every week.

We felt sorry that we could not continue on with her because of us relocating to a different city and her move as well. I would greatly recommend her for your violin lessons.

*I teach with a heavy emphasis on vocal health. I encourage and teach complete body and mind awareness. I provide a "lifestyle" approach to singing and performing.

*My specialties include: helping students find a unique voice in their original music, prepping for auditions (most genres besides traditional broadway and opera), studio recording and ear training.

*Original Music: I have a piano, ukulele and guitar available for student use at my in-home studio. We can also work on editing your originals.

*Audition Prep: Especially for the working performer, we work on both voice and full body exercises to relieve anxiety and allow you to be in the moment on your big day. We aim to prevent any unnatural tension that may obstruct vocal production, flexibility and freedom.

*Studio Recording: Singing in a studio is certainly different than singing on stage and depending upon genre, it may seem like a whole other art form. Depending on the project, we prep you for your ...

My goal in taking lessons was to get back to singing after a long hiatus of lessons and performing... to reclaim my love of singing and break through my insecurity. Jessica's warmth, humor and expertise helped me do just that. I learned new techniques and had a full on very emotional breath through right in her living room!

She made me feel safe, confident, and helped me learn about my unique voice as well as shared her expertise in proper breathing and gaining vocal control and increasing range.

In sum, Jessica is an incredible vocal coach and I'd definitely recommend her.
Sally
Jessica is an amazing teacher! She not only understands all the technicalities behind singing but she works to your strengths and helps you cultivate both your inner and outer voice! I felt very comfortable with her and even got emotional a few times as it was such a powerful experience to be able to be vulnerable and engage in something I love so much. Jessica is the perfect mix between professional and experiential where you'll learn skills but you will also have fun doing it. I highly recommend Jessica for your musical needs. I look forward to my future sessions!! It also helps she is incredibly talented! An all around win and positive experience :)!

Ray is an amazing teacher. My 11-year-old has high-functioning autism and has a great interest in learning music. I was hesitant to hire just any teacher, as many teachers don't have the patience and understanding to work with special needs kids. However, Ray has been not only patient, but he has an exceptional way of teaching my son in a way that he would understand and retain the information. Ray is creative, intuitive, and experienced. My son is very happy and enjoys the lesson every single time. Thanks Ray.

If you are sort of person like me who like show out in front of friends, you can say Janos starker is my teacher's teacher! LOL!) She is well qualified for all levels cello players. I took cello class from her. She not only taught me cello techniques, but also music theory which can help to understand cello technique. She always try to teach me how to think and find out the best way for me. Not just show me how she play. I think this is important. I learned so much from her last year! Learning how to use a capo can be a lifesaver, especially if you enjoy singing along or if you frequently work with vocalists. For an easy, hands-on way to see how a capo works, try playing a normal C chord. Place your capo on the first fret. Then play the same position you just played - you'll notice it's now half-step higher …
