About Carolyn
I earned my degrees in music and elementary education at Southeast Missouri University. I taught music in school for seven years. in 1989 I began teaching only privately . I am constantly aware that the best way for students to learn is a program individually planned for him or her. I love teaching all ages..Through the years I have expanded my lessons to provide performance opportunities for those students who are interested.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson is geared toward that one individual. I am familiar with all the music book publications so I pick and choose from them for each individual student.
Every lesson will be a positive experience with little treats at the end of their lesson. For the students who would like to participate we have recitals at Steinway Piano Gallery every three month.
For the vocal students wh
o would like to participate we do singing performances at Retirement Homes . I have many costumes from which to choose for the characters. Some of our favorite shows are Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music , Disney and Phantom of The Opera.
I Am located in the Crestwood,Webster, Kirkwood, South County area.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my music studio I have a console Baldwin and a baby grand. I have microphones and audio equipment for practice for voice students. I record all voice lessons that the student takes home to practice.

*** Specialties ***
I design my lessons to fit the student I am teaching. I give certificates for progress. Stickers are given to younger students.
I am open to a wide range of music for piano and voice. My main interest is guiding you to your goals be it simple or accomplished. Whether you want to be more comfortable singing in church or the church choir or wanting to be in musicals or be The American Idol I will guide you in obtaining your goals. The same applies to pianist whether you are leaning for your own pleasure or want to become a professional. I can help you accomplish your goal.

I've just started with Carolyn and have had only 3 lessons. She is very patient and encouraging. I have been singing in church choirs and community choirs most of my life. Just recently, I joined a non audition choral society that performs classical music and more demanding music. I was told that no one wanted to sit beside me because I was singing the wrong notes. If they thought that would deter me, they were wrong. I did drop out of the spring concert because I didn't have much time to improve. I have always wanted to take singing lessons but never created the opportunity. I am determined to learn to sing well and to join the choral society for the Christmas concert. I believe that Carolyn is the teacher who can help me achieve this goal.

Rediscovering piano

After almost 20 years away I'm really enjoying taking piano lessons again. Carolyn has been great about tailoring lessons for an adult beginner, and focusing on the type of music that I want to play. She has also been flexible working with my schedule, something I very much appreciate.

About Richard
Music is my life. Since the age of 16, I have studied the guitar extensively. During my high-school years I was involved in band, marching band, choir, and independent music theory. I started my first band when I was 19 in the U.S. Army, and my life has never been the same since. I played music professionally in local bands while attending UMSL and have been teaching guitar and musical performance to many students privately for the last 7 years while developing and exploring my own musical goals. Recently I have written, produced, and performed on 5 original music albums, toured from St Louis to Texas and Colorado, and have learned many things about humanity and our culture's relationship to music. Those who share a passion for music form an extraordinary community. Come take the first step toward your potential...

*** Lesson Detai
ls ***
My students can expect professional, expert advise from a working performance artist. One of my main philosophies is a focus on fun. If music is fun, then students will practice more - which leads to accelerating returns. My students can expect lessons tailored to their specific goals. First I will discuss with the student musical influences and genre preferences, then I will assess the student's current abilities and we will begin designing a weekly regimen of practice and study. As a product of the Internet generation, I recommend using all the tools available to my students including the Internet to further their goals. My students will also learn to perform with other musicians, so we will typically have a segment of each lesson dedicated to jam time. Whether my students aspire to be professional performance artists, impress their love interests, or just rock out in their bedrooms, I work with my students so that they can do exactly that.

*** Studio Equipment ***
one bedroom apt...hardwood floor...central room for studio...music stands, room parents to sit, chairs...

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring a music stand, an acoustic guitar, my handout literature, and any other equipment (mic, stand, vocal amp, electric guitar, guitar amp) based on what my students want to learn. I expect my students to own whatever instruments they want to learn.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching acoustic and electric guitar and stage performance. I teach using handouts that I customize for students and have lessons made up around different concepts such as - learning to identify what key a song is in - how to use 3 chord combinations - learning scales and when to use them - these type of things. I usually teach based on how I learned, which includes - using the Internet to learn songs - how to figure out how a particular song is played - getting into good practice habits - etc. My genres of specialty are Blues, Rock/Classic Rock/Southern Rock, and Acoustic Singer/Songwriter. What I like to do is ask a student what kind of music or songs they would like to learn, then build them up to the level they need to be to play those songs or that style of interest.

My first lesson with Richard was great! He explained how to set everything up and a few fundamentals in a way that we were able to get through them fairly quick and we got right to the fun part. I found myself playing a few cords and jamming with Richard halfway through my first 45 minute class. This is exactly why I wanted to have an instructor, so I can reap the benefits almost immediately, which makes me want to come back for more.

About Aria
I hold a doctorate degree in Music and specialize in teaching classical music from the Renaissance period, Baroque, classical periods, as well as pop and broadway. I teach all voice types, with expertise in mezzo soprano and countertenor literature, but vast knowledge in all. I use proven vocal techniques along side vocal yoga practices to help people to find their true, natural voice.

I have considerable experience training those with disabilities, mental illnesses, and performance anxiety. I teach holistically, believing the voice to be an instrument inseparable from the person. With all students we endeavor to sing healthily, preserving voices for longevity, and to meet whatever goals the students desire. I am studied in the Bel Canto, Lamberti, and Concone technique and have successfully prepared many students for auditions, cont
ests, festivals, and self confidence for life. The techniques for singing that I use are to create a sound, healthy, and free voice. Hope to study along side you!

Dr Aria is a wonderful teacher. She is knowledgeable of course, but even more importantly Aria is a gentle, understanding, and talented teacher. I have enjoyed every moment with her and have definitely improved my vocal skills. By the way, I am myself an experienced music teachet and have never had a better teacher than Dr Aria. As I’ve said, some teach because that’s what they do, but Aria teaches because that is who she is.

Without Karen by my son's side, I don't think he would've gone as far as he did! After just a few years, he was hired to perform solo at a wedding. She made the lessons fun and enjoyable for him, while always encouraging him to do better! We were so sad to see her leave and miss her terribly!

About Amy
Hello! My name is Amy. I am a senior at UMSL (University of Missouri-St. Louis), pursuing a degree in Music Education. I am passionate about both learning and teaching. I have been playing cello since 2004, and have studied cello with Kurt Baldwin since 2014.

I have been teaching private cello lessons since January 2016, working with students between the ages of 7 and 60+ years old.

In order to cultivate individual skill and musicality, I emphasize a strong, technical foundation built on scales and etudes (which eventually leads to playing the cool stuff, I promise!). Together in lessons, we will find creative ways to practice efficiently and effectively, so that every time you pick up your cello, you will improve your musicianship and love your sound.
I am confident that we will have a blast learning together!

Thank you for you

About Lindsay
I am a professional violinist and pianist. I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelors of Music, emphasis on the violin.

I have performed with several professional groups. Some of them include the Salem - St. Louis Chamber Orchestra, the St. Louis Big Band and the Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra. I’ve also performed with smaller jazz ensembles and folk groups.

I have 10 years of teaching experience and have always enjoyed helping my students further and their skills. Students can expect improvement from week to week with regular lessons and practice. I am confident that, no matter what your age or skill level, I can help you improve your musical abilities as well as have a better grasp on music theory and the function of music.

I believe it is important for my students to have a classically based foundat
ion but that doesn’t keep me (or my students) from branching out into other genres such as rock, pop, jazz and bluegrass.

I hold lessons at my apartment which is conveniently located above a coffee shop. Grab a coffee before your lesson!

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey there! My name is Jonathan Goldstein and I am a St. Louis based touring drummer and studio musician. I have been blessed to play drums for several bands over the years including the Grammy Award Winning band, "Fun." I have toured nationally and internationally and have recorded on 10+ albums as well.

Along with establishing the roots that any drummer would need to record and perform on any stage, I also offer the unique "street smarts" of drumming that only can be experienced through the life of a touring musician such as how to properly interact with a sound engineer and how to tune your drums. That knowledge I would love nothing more than to pass on to my students!

I look forward to hearing from you and let's have some FUN drumming!

About Sammy
Hello, I'm Sammy!

Making music is one of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy watching Netflix, cooking, hiking, and eating Indian food.

I believe that music is for everyone and lessons are about you, the student. So we can tailor your lessons to whatever you need. Whether you're a beginner, playing/learning for fun, or looking to enhance your playing, I can help you!

I am a graduate of the music program at University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) where I studied cello and music theory with the Arianna String Quartet. During my time there, I played cello in the university orchestra and in some other smaller groups. I played one season with the Oregon East Symphony and I have played at several church services.
Through my teacher at UMSL, I am connected to a line of great cellists and teachers. His teachers can be traced back
to Pablo Casals, the great master cellist By taking lessons with my you can join that lineage!

Sammy and his wife Amy did a wonderful job teaching beginning cello, violin and viola students at the Summer Strings Music Camp in Pendleton, of which I was the Director July 23-27. They worked hard to prepare interesting, innovative and creative methods to teach rhythms, note-reading and beginning orchestra to 13 students ranging in age from 5 - 11. I was very impressed with their final orchestra presentation at the final concert of Camp July 27th!
