She was absolutely fantastic with my 5 year old daughters first lesson. She had her smiling the whole time.....we are coming back next week for sure.

My first vocal teacher and the best!

Ms. Rachel was an amazing vocal teacher! We would always start off with simple and fun warm-ups, breathing techniques, and would practice singing songs from musicals. My first couple lessons she taught me how to sing I Feel Pretty from West Side Story and we both had so much fun with it! After a little while we learned Cups from Pitch Perfect and then we got into the Vaccai book and I learned a couple songs from there. Overall Ms. Rachel was the best! She even offered to Skype a lesson with me since she moved. She cared about me and always helped me improve my voice in every way she could. I love her!

Learn while only playing songs you love! I will always keep an eye on technique - and I'm happy to help you learn to read, learn how to follow chord charts, play by ear, or all three - but I believe students should never look at it as homework. Piano has been a best friend since I started playing 40+ years ago and I love sharing it. So we only learn through your favorite songs. I've been teaching for 25 years, have performed with 8 Grammy winning acts, and have composed for much film, TV, and internet - from Spike Lee to MTV to major film studios. I was classically trained, accepted into conservatory while still in high school, and started playing in bands when I was 12 :) I also teach guitar, singing, and songwriting. I have taught junior high, high school, and college English and writing. I have taught special needs kids. I also work as a book author and screenwriter - but I love teaching and always enjoy having students. Pop, rock, reggae, R&B, classical - you name it, I can help! ...

About Scott

Learn to play by ONLY playing songs you love! I started playing classical piano at age 6. Piano lessons were a bit dry so, once I could, I started playing my favorite songs on my own, out of songbooks and by ear. 45 years later, piano has probably saved me a ton on therapy :) And, it's helped me m

"My 4 year old daughter started piano lessons with Kendra in the fall of 2015. Being this young, I worried if she would have been ready and able to sit through a lesson. From the start, Kendra created an environment for my daughter to express herself, while still providing the structure needed to learn from the lesson. She has been a phenomenal teacher. She is patient, uses age appropriate engagement strategies, and knows how to scaffold a lesson so that my young child can successfully learn to play the piano."

"Dan is the best piano teacher I've ever known. He is currently teaching my two kids, and I just signed on for lessons myself. On day one of my children's lessons, he had them sight reading. Dan has a true enjoyment for music, and it comes through in his patient and encouraging teaching style. I would highly recommend him if you or your children are interested in learning how to both play and appreciate music."

"John is a fantastic piano teacher! In typical fashion, I was classically trained for many years as a child, dropped piano for ~30 years, and then re-started at around 40, again with a classical instructor. After a year or so I began working with John, who was a real breath of fresh air. First the first time in my life I began to truly understand the instrument, music theory, and composition; all while having a lot more fun. We've worked on a wide variety of music - pop, classical, blues, etc. - great for me as I get bored easily. John is incredibly patient - I am no great talent and often have weeks where I barely practice, but he takes it completely in stride. In addition to being a great instructor, John is an incredibly talented pianist in his own right - sort of like taking golf lessons from Phil Mickelson. He has also worked with two of my daughters, who prefer him to any other instructors they've had."

"My two children have been taking lessons with Dan for the past few months. He is excellent!! He is very engaging, energetic and enthusiastic about music. This helps keep my kids motivated. He as been very flexible with our crazy schedule and the online flexibility is fantastic. My kids are progressing well and learning things they never covered in their previous in person lessons. Without Take Lessons, my kids would probably not be in piano at this time. Thanks!!"
