About Kevin
I have had a fairly diverse musical background, including playing with bands and orchestras, as well as participating in choral groups and opera. I have a master's degree in music performance for wind conducting, and a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on piano performance.

I have taught private lessons for several years now and I love every moment with my students! I have a real passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with others, both failures and successes. I believe everyone has creative potential, and I believe music is a real universal art form that anyone can tap into if they want. Above all, making and creating music should also be fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I try to keep my lessons professional but comfortable too. I don't yell at students for messing up or anything like that. I usually have an agenda b
ut am willing to adjust and compromise if the situation dictates. If you don't have a curriculum in mind, I like Alfred's piano courses, but will do my best to find one that fits you as a student best. My initial goals are to make sure the basics of reading music and performing are set so that no matter what musical avenue you want to pursue, you will be successful. I do specialize in classical music but enjoy creating and playing in other genres as well.

I now also offer lessons online, as well as tutoring in most math areas!

***CANCELLATION POLICY***
I kindly ask for 24 hour notice whenever possible if a lesson is going to be missed. Generally speaking, if I don't hear from a student and their lesson time passes I will mark the lesson as missed, but I am also usually more than willing to make up the lesson at a later time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a piano keyboard at my home.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would expect students to have their own instruments as needed, as well as music paper, pencils, etc. I may be able to provide some of those materials on occasion as well as some books/recordings, but will by and large expect students to purchase those for themselves.

*** Specialties ***
I am much more familiar with classical styles and Broadway. My music writing style tends to be somewhere between neo-classical and avant-garde.

I have also earned a degree in Creative Writing from Louisiana State University for all of the students wishing improve their writing skills!

In addition to freelance work, (weddings, jazz brunch gigs, etc.) I am the lead guitarist for the Funk/R&B band Water Seed and the soul project RetroFit. I attended Indiana University for jazz guitar and have studied under jazz greats Dan Miller, Corey Christiansen, and Oteil Burbridge.

I pride myself in taking a students learning needs and using that as my basis for their specific lesson plan, always on a case-by-c
ase basis, tailored to each individual student. Everyone is at a different waypoint on their path so why would I use a predetermined formula to try and help them, am I right? I am excited to meet and grow with every single one of you, let's learn to love the life we have and let our studies become radiant!

I teach all kinds of disciplines from guitar, mandolin, banjo, and clarinet, to creative writing, meditation, and even astrology. If you have any questions about my teaching methods, skill level in a certain discipline, or anything thing you can think of I would be more than happy to answer you!

Musically yours,

Grant has been an amazing, patient teacher, even for an old bird like me. I wanted to play as a bucket list thing. Grant is obviously talented himself, but more than that, he is able to share that knowledge in a calm manner, yet be able to push you to do better each lesson. I would highly recommend him if you're just starting out or need help getting better. He is an incredible teacher.

About Tyler
I received my Bachelors of Science in Cellular Molecular Biology, graduated Summa Cum Laude (GPA > 3.9) and Phi Kappa Phi (Top 10% of class). I scored in the 99th percentile of the MCAT, 100th percentile of the ACS National Organic Chemistry Exam, and 98th percentile in the science section of the ACT. This fall, I will be attending a Top 15 medical school.

I grew up with the learning disabilities dyslexia, dysgraphia, and auditory processing disorder. I believe the challenges of having learning disabilities has given me the experience to help others succeed and enjoy academics.

I began teaching by tutoring at-risk students in chemistry at my high school. I mentored students in problem solving and aimed to excite them towards the assignments.

I continued teaching as a teaching assistant for the upper division cell biology class
by instructing students in immunological laboratory techniques (including flow cytometry and ELISA).

My research on rheumatoid arthritis conducted at my college and Harvard Medical School has resulted in seven presentations, three at national medical conferences.

As a chess player I achieved a rating in the 98th percentile of scholastic players and have taught students from 8 to 27 years old.

About Art
I have done many things in my life and as the sun is setting I would love to share those experiences in a manner that would be helpful to those who are finding their way in their own life. I am all about connections, how two boards are nailed together, how two people find each other and build a life together. I have had careers as a submarine sailor, a counselor and admissions administrator at the Boston Architectural College, a partner in an architectural practice, a partner in a psychotherapy practice and the last few years as a residential designer builder. Mostly however I love people as people never cease to amaze me. So fragile, so strong all in one package. Together we can make a difference!

Art designed a bathroom renovation for me to include an accessible shower; a corollary to the project was the design and installation of a second floor laundry area. Art understands the needs of older clients who have accessibility issues. His work is careful and his team is very respectful of the client's home. At the end of a work day, all is clean and in good order.

Above all, Art is extremely responsive to the client's wishes. He is flexible, willing to change course if necessary, and always ready with suggestions to make the project go more smoothly. He anticipated many of my needs, before I was able to articulate them. I am very pleased with the results of his work.

Art designed my addition, which is beautiful. People admire the design from the street and love the space once inside. Art's technique was to learn about me and my family, understand our living style, and prioritize our needs. He worked with us on the design and the result was something unique that perfectly fit our needs. We enjoy and appreciate the addition every day.

To make the addition affordable, I decided to build the deck myself. Art agreed to be my teacher. This was no small project -- this was an extensive hardwood deck that transformed the common area of my house into an impressive indoor / outdoor living space. Art taught me how to align the joints, how to ensure structural integrity, how to create interest and visual appeal, how to solve problems and do jobs on my own, how to use all the power tools safely and how to work with wood. Working with Art, our vision was transformed into a design, a plan and a finished product that looks fantastic.

My house is not a building and my desk is not a weekend project. My house fits my lot, connects with the land and enhances my lifestyle. My deck is a bridge to the outdoors that seamlessly integrates indoor / outdoor living. I don't just live in these living spaces -- I experience them, every day. Art helped me and my family create a space where we are comfortable, mindful and connected with our community. Working with wood is a metaphor for working on life.

About Matthew
Hello, there! My name is Matthew! I've been teaching private lessons since 2014 and have loved helping my students learn the knitting/crocheting basics, expand their understanding of their abilities, and find a proactive way to relieve stress and bad moods. I teach knitting English or Continental style, multiple cast on methods and when to use them, different increase and decrease methods achieving different looks depending on the pattern and desired outcome, and finally different bind off methods.

I knit and crochet for a high fashion handcrafted company (The Third Piece), I have an Etsy shop, and am commissioned to crochet for international competitions. I'm a kind and outgoing person and my teaching style is relaxed yet focused, goal oriented, and fun! Knitting and crocheting are wonderful ways to express yourself, relieve stress,
and to make gifts for multiple occasions. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Matthew has been an outstanding teacher and has been very patient with me in his teaching. I frequently get frustrated early with myself on projects, but he was excellent in making me pace myself. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable about various techniques. He adapted his teaching to the technique of knitting which worked best for me. I HIGHLY recommend Matt for Knitting Lessons!
