I have been teaching dance for over 10 years. In that time I have found that, regardless of what style you are learning, everything is made of a few fundamental principals and components specific to that style. There are only so many ways you can move your feet and body. By understanding these principals & components, you can then put them together in any order with different style to create different dances. By laying the proper foundation, students have an easier time following choreography, learning to apply their own style, and even keeping up with a class. Once a dancer has a foundation to work up on, I introduce new concepts in layers to help dances feel better and develop a nicer aesthetic.

In this class we will learn and practice solo basics for waltz, rumba, cha-cha, samba, and other ballroom classics. No partner needed. We will work on drills to strengthen your ballroom dance footwork and artistry.

I have experience in varied street and self-taught techniques in Waltz (Traditional & Viennese), Tango (American & Argentine), Cha Cha, Foxtrot, and Latin Ballroom (Salsa, Rumba, Samba, Bachata), just to name a few. My Teaching Method: I assess each students' levels, knowledge and styles of learning, determine the best learning paths to incorporate into the lesson and bring a "natural movement" approach of training and education. With my method, this is to provide a collaborative & supportive environment as well as actively develop a person's life, culture and well-being. I teach Social Ballroom dancing which can be used on cruise ships, special events and weddings. My students will truly learn how to lead/follow. I've been teaching private lessons since 2008 and have loved helping my students feel good about what they are learning, and accomplishing the goals they set forth.

I have competed primarily in International Latin and American Rhythm styles, though I have extensive training in International Standard and American Smooth styles as well. I teach both social and competitive styles of dance, and gear my lessons toward the student's preference. During my lessons, you will learn appropriate dance techniques for your dance level and style, timing, musicality, expression, and partnering. I can also create a dance choreography for a special event, or for a competition.
