It is to no one's surprise that I completed my first demo at the age of 13 and was performing for Queens Colleges audiences at 14. I went on the rank high in the NYSSMA series in both piano and voice. I also went on to study music in college and began touring with gospel troupes nationally. Since then I has done many workshops, Master Classes, tour dates, theatre shows etc. Too many to date. I am a sought after teacher for voice, piano and broadway singing. I train public speakers, actors and teachers as well.

A bit of information about myself: I have been tutoring for over seven years and am very familiar with the public and private school systems in Manhattan. I teach everything from Algebra II to American History, specializing in organizational and study skills.
I am a Columbia University graduate. Graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a 3.97 GPA. I currently tutor full-time and also run a music education non-profit, Nvak.
I am meticulous, patient and loving. I invest 100% of my energy in making sure that the kids that I take on are getting the individualized attention they need and that they are becoming more independent and more confident each session.

I'm a Brazilian musician around 35 years old, MASTER in Piano Performance, Professor at a University in Brazil and in the US, also Bachelor in Singing and Composition. I love interacting with classes of piano and Jazz singing, for kids and adults. I have a big repertoire of classical music, pop, musical theater and all the Brazilian songs. Also, the practice can include harmony studies, ear training, improvisation and composition. The concept of my methodology is using creativity, technology and good music to make the students play all the songs they want and develop skills. I can teach in English, Portuguese or Spanish.

Professor Cândida L. B. is an inspiring world class musician, classically trained and rooted in Brazilian culture. Her artistic work mixes folkloric music, bossa nova, pop, latin and african music, jazz, and all styles of world music. After 15 years teaching in a University in Brazil and in the United States, now she also created a program in which she offers her experience as a music educator for all ages music students and from all over the world. Master in Piano Performance, Bachelor also in singing, composition, studies in music production and electronic music, sound therapy, special needs and coaching, Professor B. is a true educator and artist.
Her methodology consists of modern approach to music education and music therapy, that connects creativity, repertoire, technology and skill development. Choose your subject: piano, keyboard, jazz voice and singing, music theory, ear training, harmony, songwriting.

You can connect by Skype or you can also choose to use FaceTime or Google Hangout. There are easy instructions that you receive to make sure you are all set to start. You have the chance to record your class and you will receive a link to all the material we use in class. In tour or local, classes must go on!

If you are in New York Area, come for class in one of the studios. We are at midtown west, in great locations and professional studios.
You can choose between 30, 45, 60 and 90 minutes lessons. Combo choices of more than 1 subject – you can combine piano and singing, or singing and songwriting for example.

Anything I write down doesn’t feel quite enough, really. She has become so much more than a music teacher (or maybe that’s how the best teachers should be?). A friend, a wise guide in the world of music that’s so easy to get lost in and burn out. With a day job and family, I could have stayed a noodler on various instruments forever, but thanks to her I now can call myself a musician - while keeping that tricky life-music balance. I really believe that in teaching, a language a primary focus should be on life skills. Not being an English native-speaker, I learned how important it is to be able to express basic needs and to perform primary activities. However, it is important to consider other points like grammar, reading, writing. I also think that no matter what a teacher should always take into account the needs of the students and subsequently I plan my classes reflecting on the student's demands.
As to the different approaches and materials that I use, I suppose that it is important to change them frequently in order to keep the classes more interesting.
