About Jillian
I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Classical Voice); certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional writer and editor.

...I find joy in a lot of places! And often I find these areas of study inform and augment each other.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism spectrum disorder, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances and developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.

I incorporate my experience as a therapist into the educative se
tting.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I am a professional vocalist in NYC. I perform liturgical and classical music, as well as musical theater repertoire. I participate in professional operas, choral groups and other concert series, as well as professional theater work. Performing gives me a sense of bliss and completeness that is indescribable.

As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout NYC. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I went on to complete advanced trainings and now specialize in restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, yin yoga and therapeutics. I offer private yoga instruction and meditation at my home studio, and on occasion in my clients’ homes. My studio comes fully equipped with all yoga props, aromatherapy, and music. Hands-on-assists and personalized sequencing to deepen your experience.

It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

Please feel free to inquire about any of my services!

*Note: If you don't see a time slot that is suitable to your needs but would like to try a session with me, feel free to register for the Flex Plan, and we will work out week-to-week times!!**

**Note: If you are interested in music therapy, please email me with a bit about yourself (or your loved one) and your personal goals, as well as the qualities you hope to find in your therapist.

Wow Sergey is really great at this! My daughter just turned 5 and is still practicing her headstands against the wall hours later. Sergey's advice to have her 'help' me practice MY stretching is a double win and making her more willing to do her pushups and splits too. We are really looking forward to the next class already. Thank you so much for all the advice and feeback post class too, Sergey!

I am a professional singer, songwriter, actor, and teacher. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre (with a minor in Spanish)! Originally from North Carolina, I moved to New York City in order to pursue my dream of being an actress! Upon my arrival in New York, I quickly found that I also have an incredible passion for songwriting and teaching. Currently, I am pursuing a career in music and working as a teacher.

If you choose to study voice with me, you can expect to improve your technique weekly using a variety of vocal warm ups and songs. Because every person's voice is just as unique as they are, we will work through your individual strengths and opportunities for growth as well as work towards building up your repertoire - all while helping you gain more and more confidence in you
r vocal abilities!

If you are interested in studying acting with me, you can expect to read lots of plays/musicals, as well as work through a slew of monologues! We can work on material that I find for you or we can work through whatever you need to prepare for your next audition! I can help you find compelling objectives and beats and help bring your character to life!

In my Spanish lessons, you can expect to work through grammar, speaking, reading, and writing. I learned Spanish through an immersive academic program (K-12) and then I minored in Spanish in college so I not only have an understanding of the language from an academic standpoint but I also have been speaking Spanish for nearly the entirety of my life! I have worked with beginner Spanish speakers to native Spanish speakers helping with grammar and writing skills. We will work together to build up your confidence in speaking and understanding Spanish and before you know it, we'll be able to have our lessons fully in Spanish!

I am looking forward to meeting you and working with you soon!!

About Lauren
I'm a professional actor/musician in NYC, currently playing the Fiddler in the hit off-Broadway revival of The Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Oscar and Tony award winner Joel Grey (2019 Drama Desk Winner Best Musical Revival). I am available for in-home, online, and in-studio lessons, where I can teach violin, flute, singing, acting, and English (ESL).

I received my BFA in Acting from Boston University's school of theater. As a classically trained singer, violinist and flautist, I've been able to incorporate my musical talents with my career as an actress. I play a range of professional gigs, from churches to rock concerts to pit orchestras. I had the chance to travel around the US, performing in theaters around the country for the Broadway national tour of the tony-award winning actor/musician musical, Once! My range of experience h
elps me cater lessons to you and your specific needs.

I have been teaching music and theater for over 5 years, and two years ago I began teaching ESL to elementary students in Turkey. I fell in love with teaching English, and feel my training in theater and music helps me use different, exciting teaching techniques in our lessons. I am conversational in both Turkish and Spanish as well!

No matter if we're working on music, acting, or English, I'm incredibly committed to my students and want each lesson to be fun and motivational. I'm a patient, supportive teacher, and know that each student is unique and moves at his/her own pace! Please reach out to me, and I will be happy to answer your questions!

We love Lauren. She is making violin a great experience for our daughter (11 yrs old). She is very thorough and encouraging, and introduces interesting music that is fun and challenging for a beginner student. Our daughter says she can truly feel her own improvement, and is really happy to have additional lessons with Lauren, beyond what she receives in school. Lauren is flexible with scheduling and very reliable, and we intend to stick with her - and with the violin- for the duration!

Lauren Thomas is an excellent musician with a tremendous amount of patience and a seemingly boundless supply of talents. As a fellow musician who has played professionally alongside Lauren, I have witnessed first hand her skilled mastery of both the flute and the violin -- as intuitive as she is technically proficient. Apart from her musical abilities, she's kind, fun and sensitive and would make for either a great beginner violin teacher or as an instructor for someone with intermediate skills looking to expand their abilities. Cannot recommend her highly enough! Whether you're seeking instruction in the flute or the violin, Lauren's the woman for the job.

About Sabrina
I am currently completing my undergraduate degree in bassoon performance at New York University, with a minor in business studies. I am a member of the NYU orchestra, my chamber group Air Nouvea, and the New York Youth Symphony. Additionally I have played in small musical and opera productions in New York City; worked as a counselor at Luzerne Music Center in Lake Luzerne, New York; and interned at the Summertrios Music Festival in Lancaster, PA.

My beginning to advanced level students would learn how to advance their technique using practice techniques to increase productivity and efficiency through the study of scales, arpeggios, etudes, and solo repertoire. I would also emphasize posture and breathing as well as teach reed making and adjusting.

In addition to bassoon, I teach math, science, history, French, English/writing, and
ACT/SAT prep. In high school, I was a member of the French Honor Society, competed in Washington D.C for We the People, and was a national merit semifinalist.

About Carla
Hi!

My name is Carla, I am currently in a Masters program for Mental Health Counseling and thought it would be a great idea to tutor on the side as I love teaching people my favorite subjects -- Spanish and French!

I was born in Argentina, therefore I am a native Spanish speaker (and continued to speak it throughout my upbringing). I also was homeschooled from 1st - 12th grade through an online Spanish system (which helped with learning all about Spanish grammar and the history of my country) while also attending public school here in the USA.

As per my French interest, I studied French Translation (as well as Psychology) in college and also lived in Paris for 6 months to fully immerse myself in the language and culture. I feel very connected to this language (I started learning it when I was 12), and wish to live in France after my g
raduate studies.

15 Fun-to-Say Japanese Onomatopoeias (With Audio)
What Are Japanese Onomatopoeias? An onomatopoeia is a word where meaning is derived from a sound, or when a word sounds like how it looks. We tend to notice them most in comics as sound effects: zippers "zip" and light switches "click." They're fun to say and they certainly aren't hard to learn.
