About Madeline
I'm an opera singer who's been making music since before I could talk, and I can't wait to share my love of music with you! I graduated from Vassar College with my BA in Music and Italian in 2016 and recently moved to New York to pursue my career. I have experience teaching Voice, Piano, and Early Childhood music lessons.

I began taking voice lessons at age 11. I had wonderful teachers who taught me classical technique to keep my voice healthy, supported, and controlled. Though I later chose to pursue a career in classical music, I initially was interested in musical theater. I am eternally grateful to my teachers for teaching me to sing classically and I maintain that all voice students should have that same foundation in classical bel canto technique, regardless of their preferred performance genre- good technique can be applied to wh
atever you sing!

In addition to Voice, I teaching beginning piano. I began studying piano long before voice, when I was only five years old. Learning to play the piano is crucial for any aspiring musician and aids in the development of fine motor skills, reading skills, and math skills in young children.

Whatever your skill level and whatever your goals, I would love to work with you to develop your musical skills. I feel confident that we can make some amazing music together!

About Emilie
I was born and raised in Norway with a multicultural background. I moved to the US permanently in 2012 and have lived in a city I love beyond words ever since - NYC. I have two bachelor's degrees in Economics and Africana studies, and just finished my MBA with a specialization in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

As I'm sure is obvious, I have experience with a lot of different subjects and have been a student for most of my lifetime. In my view, this makes me better equipped to teach people because I have an appreciation for the fact that we all process information in different ways. Learning has to be fun to be truly worth it, if you ask me! And having teachers who understand that makes all the difference. My academic progress has not just been the result of my own hard work, but but also the work of some great teachers alon
g the way.

I teach both online and in-person from my home, but I am also happy to meet up somewhere in Brooklyn or lower Manhattan. I may be available at a different time than what's shown on my calendar, so feel free to send me a message through the TakeLessons platform to see if we can find a time that works.

I wanted to learn to play drums as I've always dreamt of being able to play so I started taking lesson with David. He is very patient and has been able to discover a "sense of rythm" I didn't even know I had inside of me. His approach to teach me was very powerful and he transformed me from total dummy to a good drummer in a very short time. I will never stop to thank him for his professionalism and his patience. I highly recommend David to everyone who wants to learn how to play Drums or becoming a pro.

I think drums lessons are not the easiest thing to do online. David was incredibly prepared for that and had all the necessary tools to have a good sound from skype so that i could hear everything, and specially all the necessary instruments prepared so that i could fully take advantage of the hour lesson. Also his Online lessons are pretty fun, sometimes he would make a little funny statement just to break the little ice that online communication can create through a screen, which I found out is pretty important.
Finally, when it's online the lesson is also focused towards music knowledge and suggestions about music history that we all should be aware of.

I've been studying with Emily now for around 5 months and in this short time, I feel I have learned a lot. Emily is a very organized teacher with access to a lot of good Greek teaching materials. She is kind, patient, and very receptive to your needs as a new learner to Greek and she tailors her lessons according to these needs. Her schedule is generally very flexible, and she's willing to work around conflicts. I highly recommend her if you're looking to learn Greek.
