B.A. in Music from Hofstra University
Classical music is the foundation for everything else!
I have been teaching piano for over 40 years, full-time for the past 15. Besides the actual repertoire, technique and theory are always included in my lessons because they are essential. Sight reading and ear training are also included in some lessons.
I stress accuracy in playing and attention to details! I also teach my students HOW to practice. Slow, accurate practice is the answer. Practicing takes patience!
Please note: Home lessons must be at a location that I can get to easily with public transportation. I do not have a car.
I started to study the piano at the age of seven with Hrant Minassian in my hometown of Island Park, New York. During high school I continued my studies with Jack Chaikin , a graduate of the Juilliard School. I attended Hofstra University where I received a B.A. in Music in 1979. At Hofstra, my pian

Anfangen ist leicht, Beharren eine Kunst. This classic German proverb—which, translated into English means “Starting is easy, persistence is an art”— is the perfect description of language learning for beginners. German for beginners can be difficult. Only practicing during your scheduled lesson time simply isn't enough. You need to find ways to incorporate regular practice into your everyday life. After all, gaining a deep understanding of the German language takes time, prac …

French is a language that has reached over 25 countries and touched many cultures over the centuries. It was the lingua franca before English overtook it, and still remains a formidable language in the international community. Perhaps one of the places on which it maintains a significant stronghold is in Quebec, Canada, and certainly Quebecois is the most well known French-speaking former colony. French settlers established communities there in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the language i …

Humor makes our lives better, but can it make your Spanish better as well? Today I’m here to show you how you can increase your vocabulary and heighten your cultural awareness through jokes in Spanish. Understanding humor in our target language is a milestone in our learning process, and my favorite kind of humor to introduce students to is wordplay. I believe wordplay in any language is one of the most charming, creative ways we can express wittiness or silliness and it’s semantics …
