I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance and Musical Theater. In the spring of 2007, I travelled to New York with one of the many touring singing groups I have been a part of and performed a concert on the stage of Carnegie Hall. I have performed in and directed numerous musical theater productions and currently teach with an after-school arts program in the Denver area. I continue to perform in shows and musical reviews and now teach from my home studio.

Offering beginning voice lessons to all ages in all genres and styles.
Lessons are catered to the individual student's goals and learning styles.
Unlike instructors who only use karaoke tracks for accompaniment, I accompany my students on the piano. This allows me to make accompaniment recordings for the students to practice with. I provide warm-ups, melody tracks and full piano accompaniment tracks (at appropriate tempos). This is very beneficial for students when practicing as the accompaniment recordings can "grow" with their skill level on each song. It also gives the student the flexibility to choose songs that would normally be outside of their vocal range, because we can transpose the song and make recordings in a key that works for them!
I specialize in working with young voices that are still developing and helping students learn the differences between choral singing and solo singing.
About Kit
With 2 degrees in music and more than 12 years of teaching experience, I offer piano and voice lessons to any age and any level! I consider the most important aspect of teaching to be creating an environment where a love of music can be discovered and nurtured. Everyone is offered the opportunity

Singing is the most wonderful thing in the world! First of all you don't need anything besides- you! And you can do it anywhere (I've gotten requests at work before!) Then it's also relaxing and fun and it makes everybody happy, not just you but also the people around you! It help to connect with your own emotions as well as stimulating empathy! Did you know that birds have 2 larynxes so they can keep us entertained all day long? Well I don't think I need to tell you any more about the pros of singing! You have to try it!
When I meet a new student, my goal is first to get to know you and find out your personal preferences in music. Then I usually start with warm-ups, exercises, body movement and scales to determine your level. I suggest pieces that you like and that I think would be beneficial to your progress. You get to choose from my wonderful collection of music! Oh did I mention that I have a beautiful Kohler & Campbell Upright at home? Why don't you give takelessons a call so ...

I have been teaching voice for over 15 years, both in classroom and private lesson settings. I hold a Bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis in performing arts (such as musical theater) and a Master's in early childhood and elementary education, but I believe anyone can be taught to at least carry a tune-so all ages and skill levels are welcome. I fervently believe that a solid foundation in music theory and technique goes a long way, but I also know from experience that choosing to sing the types of music you love is essential to successful learning. I have been trained in classical voice, musical theater, and church music, but my passion is leading worship in the church and singing music of an acoustic folk or country style. As a professional musician I have done all of these styles (and more) many times over the course of my career. What that means is I have the experience to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be! Whether you have always dreamed of learning or are
