I'm not young, and I'm hard to teach music theory to, but he was patient, and is helping me figure a way into learning important stuff that I find kinda dry and not fun to practice. (I'm a good player, but music theory is very challenging to me.)

I’m a bilingual professional drummer/musician with a Masters degree in music. I have also been teaching drums for more than 18 years with students of all ages, from beginners to advanced drummers. I have also toured worldwide with many top artists like Becky G., Thalia, Oscar Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui, etc. Part of the things I think are important to learn as a drummer are: How to develop independence, hand/foot technique and speed, rudiments, theory, how to play different genres among other things.

My experience spans over 25 years of performing and teaching every drumming style. Each lesson will include period of rudimental work, rhythm reading, and playing different styles behind the drum set. I believe in creating an environment that is focused on playing music well and where the student can have fun while gaining confidence. It is important to develop drummers into functional musicians with good technique, reading skills, and time. We will cover all styles of drumming from jazz to rock/pop, including funk, progressive rock, all of the Latin styles, even hybrid drumming and other percussion as desired.
About Mariano
My experience as a performer and teacher ranges from early music to today's rock and pop, including various percussion instruments from around the world. When studying for my bachelors and masters degrees in music, I did course work in music recording, jazz studies, and music history. In addition,

I am a well-rounded drum teacher, meaning I have learned and studied genres ranging from blues, jazz, rock and indie rock. I will give you tons of music to listen to and interpret and teach you how to learn tunes by ear. You will understand the forms of jazz tunes such as aaba Aba and abc. You will learn how to play the tunes you listen to and take the concepts of drum beats and drum rudiments used within them o make them your own and use them in your original playing. I also teach how to read standard drum notation, and can teach you how time signatures work and the values of notes if you don’t already know.

Hi future students! I’m Eli. I know how tough it is to teach yourself an instrument, because I struggled with it for years and years. One of my biggest issues was learning how to practice, so if that’s something you struggle with, I can certainly help you develop a routine to which you would follow

Why TakeLessons?
Hear From TakeLessons Drum Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I first discovered Anthony’s drumming hearing him at the Newport Jazz Festival playing the drums with Grammy Winner and virtuoso pianist Danilo Pérez. Never have I been more blown away by hearing a musician live. He was in his early 20s at the time and had all the signs of someone with a special gift who would go very far in the music world. The drumming spoke for itself.
Then, later that day, he taught a drum clinic for hundreds of under-privileged high school students and adults that had the room buzzing. I saw the profound difference in the students’ playing immediately. And it became clear why people all over the world contract Anthony for his teaching.
We kept in touch over the years and I took lessons whenever I was in Los Angles at his studio. After the first lesson, I found I had already learned more facility at the drum set than from years of slogging through method books and teachers who didn’t know what they were doing.
Since the beginning of this year, I have switched over to weekly online lessons, which I found to be just as effective as in-person studies. We are now studying advanced concepts and exercises for developing technical facility and versatility as a drummer in the 21st century (and I played my first gig on the drums!). I feel truly fortunate to be able to take lessons with one of the world’s greatest drummers. No matter what genre you play, and whether you’re a complete beginner or advanced drummer, I know you’ll benefit immensely from Anthony’s experience, world-class artistry, and personable approach."

Learning to play the drums is not something you can do in a single day or a single lesson. Drumming is an art form, in many ways, and it takes time to develop. Beginner drummers can get frustrated easily, but stick with it and you’ll be playing the drums (and playing them well!) sooner than you might think. While private lessons are the quickest most efficient way to learn to play, you’ll also need to practice at home to really develop your talent. Combine this with the right drum books, and …
