About Denise
I'€ve always had a love for music. When I was 8 years old, I taught myself how to read music before my first piano lesson because I was so excited to learn. I continued taking piano lessons throughout my school days and became involved in choir in high school.

When I began college I decided to study business. I auditioned for choir and realized that my dream was to become a music educator. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I studied piano, voice, clarinet, and music education. I had a lot of experience playing the piano and singing that I decided to learn the clarinet and join the concert band so I could have band experience. I was also involved in hand bell choir and continued to perform with the choir after I graduated. After graduating, I taught piano at various private eleme
ntary schools throughout San Diego. I also had the wonderful experience of being the pianist and vocal soloist at my church. I am a substitute teacher and have the opportunity to work with students from preschool to high school and am able to use my knowledge of each age group and school curriculum in teaching music.

"Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance" - Samuel Johnson

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are tailored to each individual student'€s needs. I think everyone is special and has their own unique way of learning and customized lessons should reflect that. I believe that music theory is important and I include that in lessons. For piano lessons I mainly use Alfred'€s piano books. In each lesson I will demonstrate the necessary skills in order for the students to feel comfortable in taking the music home to practice. For voice lessons I include vocalizations, vocal technique, and song study.

I want students to have fun with music. I am very patient and I think it'€s important to encourage and praise students. I hope to instill the desire to learn in each student.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room, full size keyboard for piano lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a portable keyboard.

I’m a beginner so Denise gave me a cd to practice my breathing and warm ups even when I’m not with her. THis was my first voice lesson so I don’t have much to compare her too but in my opinion she’s was very professional. I’ll deffinetly be going back to her In the future.

About Rhonda
With over 20 years of experience as a musician, piano teacher, and music director, I am able to explore all aspects of musical theory and make the piano an enjoyable and exciting instrument to learn to play.

My lessons will be rhythmically exciting, and never boring. I always have book lessons as well as personal musical pieces that the student would like to work on. I most often will incorporate ear training in all of my lessons without being obvious about it, as well as performance. I believe it should be music that speaks to the heart.

Not only will students achieve their goals in learning to play their favorite song or actually play well, they will find a peace and a calm in freely exploring the art of music. Whether they find it to be an escape from it all, or their future with a musical career, it shall be achieved.

D
id you know that a troubled child can find rest and recovery from getting involved in the arts, especially that of the piano? Did you know that as a remedy from feeling despair and hopelessness, the piano is a proven healer? Wouldn't you like to play a song to a friend or a neighbor and make them feel better today? TAKE PIANO LESSONS!!... YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY...

Living Room: 3 pianos (upright piano and 2 digital 88 keys weighted). Microphones, amps. Music stands, additional seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
A piano, or at least a 40-key keyboard instrument that has depth of sound. A good quality instrument, because if not, they will lose interest.

I have a Roland-88 key traveling digital piano instrument. This can go wherever I go. I also own a Technics Digital piano that has all sound capabilities and recording features. I also own an Howard or Baldwin Upright piano, which plays beautifully for those getting to know a true piano sound and control of its pedal.

My daughter Kendra is 12 and has practiced under Rhonda for about 3 years. Kendra has simultaneously advanced in her confidence as well as in her piano skills and technique. She has displayed her knowledge at church and in front of family and friends. I have also noticed that her math concepts have been strengthened. Our practices are always friendly, warm, encouraging, and uplifting.

Ms. Rhonda not only teaches my son piano, but also how he should present himself. I'm extremely happy with this development. Not only is he learning to play the piano, but also to build his confidence.

About Katie
I have been teaching young students piano for seven years. I have completed my education for a music education degree, and am the former president of the Cal State Piano Society. I have been playing piano for nineteen years and love every aspect of music. My goal is to pass my passion for music onto my students, and allow them to develop a deep appreciation and understanding for all genres.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a strong believer in making the learning process fun and enjoyable. I want my students to be motivated to learn and practice as much as possible. My teaching style consists of starting with the basics (technique, theory, and reading music) then graduating to style and phrasing. My students will always leave our lessons feeling accomplished and confident. Learning an instrument is hard work, but with enough effort a
nd commitment, anything is possible!

*** How Long of a Lesson? ***
For very young beginners, I recommend 15 minutes. For beginners, I recommend 30 minutes. For intermediate, we can do 30 to 45 to 60 minutes. For advanced, you would benefit from 45 to 60 minutes. If you are beginner and want to have a 45 or 60 minute lesson, each lesson will focus on any of these categories: technique, repertoire, theory, ear training, and listening.

***Cancellation Policy***
Please notify me at least ONE HOUR before the lesson if you need to cancel to avoid charges. I may or may not be able to reschedule, and I will allow up to one month for a makeup lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Baldwin Upright Piano
Various Piano Books
Metronome
Internet access for resources

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect all music students to provide a piano and the required materials (i.e. metronome and specific music books)

Tutoring: Please provide the class work, assignments, and projects for the subjects that need tutoring (if possible).

*** Specialties ***
I believe that technique is very important when it comes to piano. I start with teaching the basic scales, hand positions, and good posture. Then I begin teaching music theory, in which the student learns how to read notes, rhythms, dynamics, etc. Once the student becomes proficient in reading and technique, I give them more difficult pieces in order to work on style, voicing, and phrasing.

William is probably one of the only players that I've seen understand the ins and outs of trumpet playing at his age. He really helped me out early into high school and has continued to inspire me in trumpet playing. While taking a lesson he evaluates every aspect of playing and gives lots of instruction that applies to much of trumpet playing. The inspiration he gives is the most essential trait he shares with students. William is a positive influence and an amazing teacher!

I was hesitant at first to take lessons from someone I found online, but I'm extremely glad I chose William. Not only is he a fantastic player and knowledgeable teacher, but he is easy going and an overall great person to be around. He takes the lessons at a comfortable pace, and will always be honest about your playing. I would recommend him to everyone in the area, after only a few lessons, I can already see a difference in my playing, I've never been more excited to pick up my horn. If you're considering finding a teacher online, he would be a great choice, no matter the skill level.

I started to learn the violin since I was 3 years old. My mom chose this beautiful instrument for me, she thought it's convenient to carry. I came to America after I finished my music education degree in China, then I studied two years in the US for my Master's degree in violin performance. After I got my Master's degree, I found out there are still a lot more space I want to improve, so I came to California to continue my violin study and I got my Artist Diploma in violin performance. I played hundreds of concerts, including chamber and symphony concerts. I have given 5 violin solo concerts in the past years. I have been playing with the professional symphony orchestras. For the violin, no matter which area you want to improve, I can give you the most useful and effective suggestions to help you improve fast.
