I have been teaching voice lessons in the Seattle area for over ten years. I teach students how to strengthen and develop their natural gifts to free the voice within. Singing is a skill, just like riding a bicycle and I believe anyone can learn to sing!
I start with warm-ups to target specific technical issues with singers. I teach singers proper breath management, legato, interpretation, tone colors, passion, dramatic truth, etc.
About Holly

I've taught students who have never taken a voice lesson before and those who have been singing and studying for 10+ years.
I especially love teaching those who are new to singing because there are issues in confidence and finding the unique qualities for their voice while still building healthy vocal technique. If this is an issue for an advanced singer, I'd love to help out.

I have been teaching this subject for over 16 years. There is no specific curriculum as each student will come to lessons with their own unique skills, needs, and goals. Lessons are tailored to those specifics. It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Music is not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it may be selected from the western classical, musical theatre, and popular rep based on the student's goals and learning needs with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique and reading. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

I can't help but notice an immense improvement in the quality and control that I have over my voice since I switched from my last voice teacher to Mrs. Hayes. She has helped me improve my posture, breathe control, sound placement, and ease with which I can sing. She has taught me IPA, which allowed me to better understand, pronounce, and sing different vowel sounds comfortably in different languages. She gives such precise instruction that I know that I can only improve even more from now on!"
