Besides my experience and love of music, I'm a people person with a gift of teaching, so it's a win-win. I have a B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee with a minor in music. I'm a concert level clarinetist (over 30 years) as well as barbershop singer (25 years) and worship leader (20 years), & guitar player (25 years), sax player (10 years). I also play handbells, have directed three youth musicals, and have led music at youth camps, conferences, retreats, Kairos prison ministry, and other service projects. I currently lead a nine member bluegrass band which is a blast.

Hi, there! My name is Daniel and I can't wait to meet you! I love music, and have played the piano since I was 6 years old. I was one of those kids who loved to practice. I am passionate about teaching and love imparting the techniques, wisdom, and practicality that I was taught to my students. I understand that every student learns differently and I cater each lesson to the individual student. This guy did not even show up for the first scheduled class. The class was scheduled 2 weeks before and I sent a text message to remind 2 days before the scheduled day. He sent an email 30 mins before the class to tell me he is not coming. Dd not even have the courtesy to call.

Jen has an extensive musical background. At 7 years old, she started taking piano lessons, and at 10 years old, she started playing the saxophone. She continued playing and studying seriously through high school, and then majored in music education in college. She graduated from Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan) in 1998 with a Bachelor of Music Degree. Jen has performed on saxophone with many ensembles through the years...concert bands, symphonic bands, jazz bands, church / community bands...and has taught private lessons on piano, clarinet and saxophone for over 20 years. s an Assistant Elementary Band Director in Southfield, Michigan (1998 - 1999), General Music Teacher at two elementary schools in Port Huron, Michigan (1999 - 2000), Private Lesson and Keyboard Band Director in Cooper City, Florida (2000 - 2001), Director of Bands at Polo Park Middle School in Wellington, Florida (2001 - 2009), Kindermusik Educator and Business Owner in Rock Hill, South Carolina (2013 - present), and Private Lesson Instructor (present).

*** Lesson Details ***
All lessons will begin with students playing assigned pieces for instructor to assess the performance, and then new musical selections will be discussed, explained, demonstrated, and rehearsed with student. Finally, weekly assignments will be given.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I teach out of the loft in our home...it's a big, open room. I have an electronic keyboard for piano students to use. There are specific method books I like to use for teaching, and those will be required of students. I also have sheet music that will periodically be given to students as part of their weekly assignments. I have extra chairs for caregivers to stay and listen...family members are always welcome to stay for the lessons.

I specialize in beginner, intermediate, and advanced piano students. Having been a middle school band director, and a woodwind player myself, I do have experience teaching all wind instruments and percussion instruments. However, at this time, I am only accepting piano students.

I currently play and teach all the orchestral string instruments, all forms of guitar, electric bass, and all forms of brass instruments. I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance from Emory and Henry College and then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance with a concentration in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I have performed in many ensembles throughout his career including: the New River Brass Quintet, the Symphony of the Mountains, the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, the Emory and Henry Trumpet Ensemble, the ULM
symphony orchestra, the ULM Wind Ensemble, and the ULM Jazz Ensemble. I had the opportunity to travel to Austria and Germany to perform as well as across the United States at events such as the International Trumpet Guild Conference. I currently serves as the Albemarle Road Middle School Director of Strings as well as teaching private lessons in wind and string instruments. I am a member of the National Association for Music Educators, the International Trumpet Guild, as well as the American String Teachers Association.
