The things students would expect from me in a lesson would be the concept of keeping time with a metronome. Playing grooves that the student enjoys to hear. Using rudiments which would build creativity in the students playing. Exercises that building the strength of the student's wrist . The basic concepts of reading sheet music . And mainly to have fun playing over songs the student loves listening to.

Enjoyment and engagement precede technical study— always!

Why are you drawn to this instrument, piece of music, or performance situation? We will study all of the things you’d expect: scales, exercises, études, and repertoire. But I like to think I add more value than the notes on the page. And learning to play an instrument is all about reflecting your joy of playing it to the world! Precision is necessary but first is passion. This is why we always begin with enjoyment and engagement.

I consider the whole person I am teaching. I like to approach playing any musical instrument with the whole mind and body. You’ll learn how to most naturally hold and play your instrument with as much ease as if you were simply walking down the street. Only with ease can we play these instruments for life!

I'm excited, passionate, and eager to teach drums. I think a review on my Google business are a good place to start:
"Nithin is a phenom drum instructor. He’s super professional, organized and encouraging - three traits that are extremely important to me. Professional - timely, super knowledgable about the drums, and focused. Organized - had a series planned for each lesson and filmed them during the class so I could return to them later. Encouraging - understood the difficulty of learning new techniques and encouraged me to try to push through the discomfort, which often lasted for less time than I expected."

About Nithin

Hello! My name is Nithin and I have been a drum teacher for over 20 years! I have spent the past 7 years touring the world as both the drummer and bass player for critically-acclaimed, and current Late Night with Seth Meyers guitarist, Marnie Stern. My curriculum is specially designed to make drum

"I am so impressed with Jared’s ability to teach me in a way I wanted to learn. I am probably the most difficult student Jared ever had. I wasn’t particularly interested in strumming. I just wanted to play in a way that the songs would be recognized without any accompaniment. I was also very specific about the pieces I wanted to learn. Jared was always so patient with me and I suspect he spent a great deal of time outside of class figuring everything out for me."

"I have never played piano before--ever--and in three lessons, Karen has me playing with both hands, and understanding music theory. She is SO sweet--even my husband thinks she's adorable and kind. I really enjoy my hour long practice with her once a week. She is getting me kickstarted so I can eventually play songs along with Sara Bareilles music and the like."

"Debbie T., my piano teacher

I am a senior who decided to learn the piano. This is something I have wanted to do all my life. I began with a private teacher and studied with him for 6 months. Although he was a very good instructor something was missing. I searched the internet and found TakeLessons.com and found Debra's profile. I have been studying under Debbie for one year as of January, 2014. She is the absolute BEST! I have only praise for her. She is patient, kind, funny, very very knowledgable, She is professional, energetic, and flexible. I just can't say enough good things about her. I see our relationship lasting for many years to come! I just love her!"

"I love my lessons with Chris! I have no music background and have always wanted to play the guitar but never got around to making it happen. Now as I am older I think why not now?! I looked around for local lessons and found Chris's site. I loved his philosophy of how he teaches an individual based on what they want out of it! His statement of "some people just want to learn to play their favorite song" sold me! So glad I found him! It's never too late to pick up a guitar!"
