John is very patient and knowledgeable. You can tell that he's been teaching for a very long time. I'm self-taught and have been playing for over 20 years and within minutes of viewing me play, John was able to pick out immediately my flaws. He gives me homework every week, and gives me a hard time if I do not do it. Exactly what I look for in a teacher.

Bill has been a very good piano instructor! He is very flexible and understanding of our busy schedule and does his best to accommodate us. He has taught a 13 year old girl to play Taylor swift songs, which are her favorite! I would highly recommend bill to anyone trying to get their children into piano!

About Sara
Hello, and welcome to my page! My philosophy for singing is that a truly great singer is versatile, and that the ideal voice is a flexible instrument that can handle a variety of genres and styles.

My personal training is primarily in classical, and I have a Master's degree in classical voice/opera from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. However, I also actively sing pop, musical theater, and even heavy metal!

Singing can be challenging, and while I work with the student intensely to diagnose and fix vocal issues, it is very important to me that the student feels happy and confident. I encourage students to express their creativity by singing in styles that they feel comfortable with, choosing their own songs, and even adding their own riffs/runs/ornamentations.

I like to place a heavy focus on music theory and sight-singing (I
offer private lessons in these subjects separately as well); It is extremely important for young singers to be able to read the notes on the staff, to understand rhythm and key, and to find pitches on the piano.

I accept beginning-intermediate singers of all ages. I additionally offer music theory, sight-singing, and diction lessons as well as beginner/introductory piano.

My daughter is learning a lot from Sara and so am I. We look forward to the classes as Sara is patient, encouraging, explains everything very well to my daughter and very knowledgeable about vocal training. We feel fortunate to have found her. My daughter who is shy is opening up to her, I can't wait to see where Sara could take her.

About James
I'm currently a professor at EMMAT, a member school of the Berklee International Network. I have over a quarter-century experience teaching people of all backgrounds and styles. My education is a mix of formal and informal, and in addition, I have worked as a professional musician and singer my whole life.

I consider everybody that comes to me to be reachable and teachable, and pride myself on having accomplished what many people considered to be impossible with my students. I believe that through dedication and discipline anybody can accomplish their musical goals, no matter how hard it may seem.

In piano, I have my own custom method that borrows heavily from the exercises designed by Donhanyi. In voice, I follow closely the techniques taught by great teachers such as Seth Riggs and Brett Manning, but I have more than a few trick
s of my own.

If you’re serious about learning to play piano and willing to put in the work, I honestly cannot think of a better instructor than James. His teaching methodology is creative, fun, yet challenging catapulting students to higher proficiency levels than typically possible with more traditional teaching methods. My 11 year old learning from James is quickly surpassing other kids with many more years of lessons studying other dated, traditional approaches.

James has played for some well known professional acts during his career in multiple music genres (including a presidencial election ceremony)...point being he’s been on the big stage and has reached a level most only dream about. Yet he continues to follow his true passion which is helping others learn and reach their own individual musical aspirations.

In short, James is your guy...look no further.

About Hannah
Hey there! My name is Hannah, I have been teaching piano for about 7 years, and over that time had 15 students. They were all completely new to the piano (and music in general), but over time were able to read music, understand simple technique/theory, and play music both at home and in church. I love being able to take a completely new student who is willing to learn, and see him/her learn to enjoy (yes, enjoy ;) playing the piano.

All three started out with no music knowledge and have learned exceptionally well how to play. I’m so pleased with how they love her and want to learn because her.

Teaching is one of my many passions and I strive to go above and beyond the call of learning an instrument. My students also learn the importance of a stage presence and how to record their own music (if interested) through music, you also learn the importance of discipline and dedication that can and will lead you to become successful in life.

INSPIRE. CREATE. EDUCATE. ADVOCATE.

These are the four words that define my life's passion of music and what I instill into my students. I started learning cello when I was 11 years old and my middle school orchestra teacher helped set the ground work for my love of music. My high school years were heavily involved in creating music; constructing arrangements of the music I loved while growing up, and building the basics of my music career. While attending Winthrop University, I learned the skills needed to teach students along with beginning my journey as an educator. I also learned how to advocate my love for music through volunteering with the local middle schools and high schools and the Union Symphony Youth Orchestra . Now I'm looking to inspire my students to love music by teaching them not only cello and violin but music theory, a
rranging their music, being able to express themselves by composing and understanding music beyond simple ink on a piece of paper.
