I tried to teach guitar in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play lead guitar, or how to finger pick. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

About John

Hello, Thanks so much for taking the time to inquire about studying music with me. Music and studying music has always been a passionate experience for me. I have been so blessed with the teachers and fellow musicians in my life. You should realize that your study of music may start with me,

My experience with Kathy has been great. It's been roughly five months and I learned a lot and I'm also much more confident to sing. Learning the right techniques is crucial. Kathy is extremely patient and she adapts the classes to the student goals and aspirations. English is not my first language and she was also always very respectful and patient in explaining everything twice or maybe three times until I get it.

Curtis is a fantastic teacher! He is patient, enthusiastic, and encouraging. He teaches the type of songs you want to learn and not some song from a guitar guidebook. My first lesson was two hours and it quickly went by. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun and am looking forward to my next lesson. If you are in search of a guitar instructor, I would highly recommend him.

"I started lessons with David a couple of months ago unsure about whether I'd stick with guitar lessons at all. I mean, the web is full of tutorials for playing. But I figured I'd give lessons a try.

I have been extremely pleased with my lessons and my progress thus far. Our lessons are a nice mix of learning songs and techniques and always emphasizing what I want to be learning. Considering I'm 39 and years out of school, this is important for me.

David has also been a remarkable teacher for my 8 year old son. Both my wife and I are very happy with the instruction we have received. Yes, David is slightly more expensive than some others here, but you get what you pay for! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for anyone looking for lessons."

"I started playing guitar at age 10 but had let it go over the past couple decades. Eager to re-learn the instrument, I recently started taking lessons with Jonah Rosenthal and he's fantastic. Exactly the kind of teacher I was looking for - thorough, creative, encouraging, and most important - patient. I can't recommend him highly enough, for someone just starting out on the guitar or a lapsed player like me."

Seriously though, it’s one thing to take lessons, it’s another to take them from someone who has consistently played in front of huge crowds around the nation and the world. Patient, dedicated and knowledgeable are the phases that come to mind with this instructor. Money very well spent."
