I have been teaching private lessons to students aged 8 to 65 for several years. Tailoring the lessons to reach the your goals, we can explore areas such as learning your favorite songs, writing your own, while forming a solid basis of musical knowledge, and the tools you will need to grow into a capable and fluent musician.

From my experiences in independent bands, I can also offer consultations and advice on soliciting endorsements, creating press kits, writing press releases, and other ways to promote your album.

About Sally

I grew up in New Zealand playing all sorts of instruments before focusing on guitar. My guitar took me all around the country touring with bands, and then eventually to the USA, where I was fortunate enough to tour extensively throughout the States and Canada as a session player. I think playing music should be about having fun. Lessons are often linked to visions of people sitting down with an instrument and trying to drill a very difficult piece of music over and over until they can play it right. However, my number one goal every time I sit behind an instrument is to have fun and I try to express that to all my students. A music lesson should be an environment in which one can really test themselves, while at the same time, wear a smile on their face and enjoying the art of learning. Their is nothing more satisfying to a teacher than seeing the gears in a student's head start to roll when they are learning something. Then seeing the look on their face when they finally get it is amazing. A proud expression immediately illuminates them after they realize they have climbed a mountain. The benefit is not only the fact that they have reached the top of the mountain, but the climb lead to a wide open space of possibilities.
In my opinion, the drums are fun for ...

About Carolyn

Coming from a large extended family in Hawaii, I was surrounded by luau music, kachi-kachi dancing, Japanese bon dances, handsome local guys singing and playing their guitars and my aunties strumming their ukes and singing old songs. I reveled in walking alone in Nature or playing piano and singing

My daughter has been asking me for ukulele classes for a while and we found Carolyn online, really liked her profile and we just had the first class yesterday. My daughter had a fun and informative class with a nice follow up practice to do on her own. Carolyn was great, \able to connect with my 7 yr old and made her feel comfortable. She even asked me if we were going to be able to meet her in person one day!

When our lessons started, I have low expectations of myself. I never realised I could have enjoyed it as much. Much of the enjoyment could be attributed to Teacher Carolyn's guidance, and tips. I appreciated that she was kind and positive all throughout.

Had a great first lesson! I wasn't sure what to expect from an online music lesson, but Carolyn is a great teacher and I could hear the difference after a single lesson.

"Astrid makes learning fun, knowing how to motivate kids with encouragement and rewards, and keeping her expectations high. She rolls with their distractions and gets them right back on track, which I consider to be a superhero skill. She is always prepared with new songs and changes the key to fit their voices. My 7 and 9 year old have dramatically improved their ability to hit notes, something I could never do. I walked down the hall last week to hear my hyperactive boy playing scales and songs on the piano...without a reminder! I believe music skills will serve my children for a lifetime, and I am so grateful we have Astrid to ignite their interest!"
