I have been an orchestral tubist and university teacher for the past 10 years. My students regularly have been featured in the region band, all-state band, scholarship recipients, graduate assistantships, regional and international competitions, and regional and international tuba euphonium conferences. I have a strong focus on developing the fundamental of brass playing, so the instrument acts as an extension of their artistry.

About Douglas

Dr. Douglas B, Jr is the Tuba and Euphonium Faculty at Winthrop University, where he teaches applied tuba and euphonium, directs the Winthrop University Tuba-Euphonium Choir, coaches brass chamber music, teaches brass methods, introduction to music technology, and serves as coordinator of recording

Dr. Douglas Black is not only an accomplished and extremely knowledgeable tuba player, but he's also a clear and thorough instructor. Tuba and euphonium players looking for their Master Yoda need look no further. Plus, he's a fun guy to work with and is flexible when unexpected life events come up. His rates are a bargain when you consider his level of experience and the quality of his instruction. 5 stars.

This is a high-quality studio. I strive to help students achieve goals small and large. I believe establishing proper technique and efficient practicing habits early and quickly opens doors.

My goals are:
-Provide a comfortable, encouraging atmosphere that inspires growth in and outside of music.
-Inspire a life-long love of music.
-Provide optional performance and competition opportunities in the community.
-Develop a work ethic that crosses over to other areas in life.
-Most importantly, we have fun at this studio.

About Grace

My style of songwriting is unique in that it does not follow prescribed curriculums or theories taught in institutions. My experience comes solely from years of hard work, learning as I go, working with other artists, touring and releasing records. I am an independent artist, just like most of you, as well as living proof that with enough heart and determination, anyone can learn to express themselves through song. My aim is to help students find their own unique voice rather than impart them with my own. Good songwriting is about communicating the emotional experience of an individual, and every individual has a story to tell. Let me help you tell yours.

I have gained over 5 million streams across Spotify and Apple Music, performed official showcases at SXSW, and been featured in articles by Billboard, Noisey, Nylon and more.

Recording vocals and instruments with Ableton Live

About Heinrich

I was one of the first 4 Ableton certified trainers worldwide and have been re-certified several times since. I started the first US Ableton curriculum at the legendary Dubspot in NYC, where I was also teaching for 8 years, both in the physical school and online. I've been teaching Ableton at a

Heinrich is a great teacher and a great person!
He knows so much and is so enthusiastic and patient while teaching. He has a lot of experience and he is a warm-hearted person, definitely the kind of person you wanna spend your time with :-)
Demitri Kesoglides
Heinrich was hands-down one of the best music instructors I've ever had. He has such a celebrated history as a producer and engineer, yet he still remains humble in the teaching environment with his students. He also adapts to specific learning styles and knows how to get through to you if you have difficulty with a particular topic or module. He's also a geuine, great guy - once you are his student he has no problem helping you or giving you advice long after his course is completed. To this day my brother and I still consider him a friend and a mentor. Highly highly recommended!
Andrew
I learned Maschine and Native Instruments MK3 from Heinrich and he knows his stuff!!! He is very patient and very supportive. He is one of the few official Maschine experts who are available to teach.

Maschine is not easy to learn but Heinrich tried to simplify topics into something easy to understand. He was open and flexible to my learning style and how I wanted to approach my lessons. That's the biggest benefit to private lessons with Heinrich!

I read the review by Cezanne about Heinrich not having enough interaction with students and that was not my experience. In fact, I felt sometimes I got too much time with him (sorry Heinrich, sometimes you talk a lot haha!). Don't get me wrong, the things he had to say were very valuable, I can just be too eager sometimes to move on from a topic so that's really on me and not Heinrich. Any time I had questions, I could text him and if it was too much to text back, he would call me right away.

Heinrich is also very chill and relaxed when it comes to working with you to find a good time to meet up for a lesson.

"I've always LOVED guitar... but I NEVER thought that I'd be playing it myself someday! That is until I found my music instructor Russell. I took up keys at first, but I felt this urge to want to learn the guitar. Russell is an awesome instructor, in fact he also taught my 7-8 yr. old (at the time) drums, which she picked up quick. He was always very patient, in fact he always walked in with a smile and a positive attitude, which is really important for parents of kids taking any kind of lessons. Anyway, back to the music, Russell is a multi-instumentalist and a fantastic producer and engineer as well, but I have to say that he is truly one with the guitar... so I was very lucky to learn from a pro but more importantly someone who is truly passionate about teaching. I have applied all the knowledge I've gained and applied it to my own music productions. Thanks to Russell, my musical compositions have grown tremendously. I love that I can learn new guitar songs and put techniques I've learned to good use, as well as with the keys! Thanks so much Russell!"

6 New Ideas for Piano Warm-Ups

We all know the importance of warming up - but do you actually commit to a proper warm-up every time you sit down to play the piano?  If you're in a rush, it's easy to forget it.  However, an effective warm-up is essential for avoiding injuries, such as tendonitis, and can also help increase the dexterity of your fingers and hands, allowing you to reach certain tough chords. Before you get into the "meat and potatoes" of your practice session, you'll want to spend a good 10-15 minutes focus …
