Chris’s trumpet pedagogical practices are derived from multiple sources. For his beginner students, he utilizes “Essential Elements for Band” from Hal Leonard to create a solid foundation of sound pedagogy and engaging music to start their musical adventure. “Essential Elements” features both familiar songs and specific exercises to focus the student on the unique characteristics and unique sounds of their instrument. After the student reaches an intermediate level, Chris implements method books by Arban, Clarke, and Irons into the practice routine to further improve technical facility and be able to perform more challenging and advanced pieces. For those students interested in learning how to play jazz, Sporer supplies them with ear-training techniques, sheet music of jazz standards, and listening material for reference. He also demonstrates characteristics of this type of music including musical patterns that can be applied over common harmonic sequences and landmark solos for ...

I am a certified Music Educator who's worked in high level International Schools for the past 6 years. I have worked a lot with both adults and children extensively in professional settings. In my former job I was responsible for lot of concerts, theatrical productions and instrumental concerts.
I've got a lot of different organized methods and curriculum that can be used to develop one's Music Theory and Ear Training.
As a teacher, I've done a lot of Kodaly Method based things with beginners that can help establish basic musical skills and terminology etc;
I also spent an extensive amount of time preparing students for exams in Music Theory & Ear Training for both ABRSM and Trinity (which are International Recognized Exams from the UK).
Fortunately I have a lot of wide ranging, organized curriculum based material to help any student (of varying levels) get on the right track to improving Music Theory & Sight Singing in general!

There are so many good things I could say about Arlys. I came to her with only a few weeks to prepare for an audition and with no previous lesson experience. In only the four and a half hours she taught me, I feel like it made a huge difference. She has wonderful teaching techniques that she learned professionally, but she's also wonderful at learning along the way. She work with you and suddenly there's a whole new way she finds to teach you. She seems to learn from every lesson she teaches and is so obviously enthusiastic about what she does. Even outside of our lessons, she did a bit of research into my audition song to try and find a way to make it easier to learn. She even called me after my audition to see how it went.
Her wonderful teaching skills aside, she's also great at making you feel comfortable. I went to her full of anxiety and within the first few minutes I was immediately comfortable around her. She also was able to teach me an amazing meditation technique that's not only calming but also makes you more alert, something none of my therapists for my anxiety were able to do.
In short: She knows what she's doing, she learns along the way, she's so easy to relax around, and she shows a great deal of care for her students."
