I have been teaching classical and electric guitar for about 9 years and I structure my lessons according to a student's goals, and objectives on the instrument. My students have been able to learn tunes by ear, and understand chord progressions and structures, and play with a pick or finger style!
I specialize in rock, metal, classical and jazz, and I can also teach extended range guitars and alternate tunings. Learn to shred, sweep, alternate pick and hybrid pick like no one's business!

About Poh Hock

Hi! My name is Poh Hock. I have been playing music for at least 20 years and I have been teaching the guitar for about 9 years now. I provide lessons at your home, my studio and online! I have a very hands-on approach to teaching and I believe that students should have fun while learning. I als

Poh Hock is a well-rounded and versatile teacher. He is capable in many styles of playing and has a powerful understanding of music theory to reinforce his teaching. He is very patient and relaxed; I never feel stressed preparing for or during lessons. He is able to tailor his lessons more around exercises or learning songs depending on the wants and needs of the students. I've been taking music lessons in different instruments for 10+ years; learning with Poh Hock has singularly been the most positive and productive experience in that time.

Poh is awesome. He's super talented and educated in music. He has a great personality and challenges me in a positive way. I'm always looking forward to the next lesson!
Julian
Poh Hock is a great teacher that really has a passion for playing and teaching guitar. His style of teaching is very precise and methodical. I learned a lot of songs taking lessons with him but more importantly Poh Hock taught me how to practice material that I was working on. The lessons were really more like guided practice sessions. While some teachers that I've had might just use the lesson to teach material and have me practice over the week, Poh Hock used lesson time to really drill sections and get them to sound good. I absolutely recommend Poh Hock as a teacher for anyone who seriously wants to improve their playing and their approach to music in general.

Jackie taught my son saxophone lessons and my daughter flute lessons for a year while we lived in Belmont. She did a fabulous job and my daughter made it into advanced band when we moved to Texas. My son also made a lot of progress as an absolute beginner. I highly recommend Jackie for music lessons for children and teens.

Jackie is a fine teacher who has been playing the flute since grade school. Her ability to connect with young people is unique. I recommend her without reservation.

Those who want to play viola are different- I love teaching people how to play this awesome instrument! The most important things in playing viola are intonation (since the viola often harmonizes with other instruments) and bow control, as that is the key to a good sound. You'll also learn rhythm and how to read music. Come learn the best instrument in the orchestra with me!
*Note: at this time I am only taking on intermediate students, as I can only teach lessons online at this time due to the pandemic. I would consider anyone who has been playing for at least 1 year to be intermediate level.

About Crystal

My name is Crystal and I've played viola for over 25 years. I can teach both violin and viola. I play professionally and just for fun. I have a bachelor's in music from Vanderbilt University where I studied with Kathryn Plummer. l love teaching people of all ages how to make music!

"I began taking piano lessons with Gabe in middle school, and he continued to teach me and help me grow for the next 9 years. He is a fantastic guy who teaches fundamentals and music theory, but knows how to keep lessons fun as well. He was always pushing me to learn how to play music I liked, and anytime I found sheet music for one of my favorite songs, he would work with me to show me what I needed to do to practice it until I could play it. Gabe organizes his own Piano Matters recitals with all of his students to play for senior citizens, and he and his wife are incredibly supportive of everyone performing. If you want piano lessons that will challenge you without feeling like a chore, Gabe is the guy to call, hands-down."
