The student is constantly moving from computers instructional programs to acoustic instruments and synthesizers.  We teach the full range of musical styles from POP, Gospel, Jazz and R&B and some lite classics too.

I have a fully equipped state of the art digital recording and teaching facility in my home. My two car garage area has been professionally convert and treated for sound.  I employ full use of the available music high tech equipment and learning programs including MUSIC ACE, Seth Riggs's The art of speech Level singing. i have both acoustic piano and an array of electric keyboards and virtual instruments stored in my IMAC 24 computer.

I have sung and taught gospel for over 20 years. My parents are pastors and I have worked with several pastors on improving their music departments so I am intimately aware on how to increase your stage presence, awareness and proficiency.

I began studying at Queens College at 6 years old and was a recital pianist by the age of 12. I studied the Music Theory lessons on Saturdays, piano lessons on Thursdays and voice lessons on Saturday afternoons, my life was filled with music. 

I completed my first demo at the age of 13 and started performing for Queens College audiences at 14. I went on the rank high in the NYSSMA series in both piano and voice and study music in college. At the age of 21, I began touring with gospel troupes nationally. Since then, I have done many workshops, Master Classes, tour dates, assemblies, concerts, events and theatre shows. I have over 20+ years teaching voice, training public speakers, actors, teachers, piano and broadway singing as well as curriculum creation, development and implementation for private, charter and public schools.

Celine was very concise with singing and voice care advice. She's also extremely patient when there are struggles; learning how to sing from scratch can be a long journey and she definitely eases my worries with how patient she is with me. I am a very laid back instructor, though the classes are very well structured. 

Usually, we progress with a chosen curriculum according to the student's or parent's vision and initial overview during the 1st few classes.  However, all curriculums are supplemented to enhance student performance and comprehension.  Our supplemental material is used to go swifter for material that you grasp well and understand, and slower with more repetition for that that you need more practice, without being monotonous.  It is also used to provide appropriate but exciting reinforcement of all material to ensure that material is retained. 

We are forever updating material and also incorporate games and enhanced activities to keep lessons interesting and refreshing as well!

• The most important thing to me when working with singers of any age or ability is: 
Helping them release tension from the voice so as to gain full vocal control and sing healthily without fatigue.

• A Beginner Lesson Plan begins by covering the main foundations of healthy, happy, powerful singing:

• I will be teaching all vocal techniques above via my main methodology: Relaxation-First. 
My Relaxation-First Method works to: 
- Debunk misconceptions about how to breath, produce sound, sing powerfully, and belting 
- Pinpoint exactly where the student is experiencing tension or discomfort, and why their body tends to do this
- Find alternatives areas to send the tension, and eventually, eliminate it all together. 
- Take stretching the vocal range, belting, singing riffs/runs, and improvisation from a frustrating experience to an effortless one. 
- Protect the voice from damage, eliminate vocal fatigue, and heal from past damage 

• Something that I feel is important to instill in all my students is: 
- Confidence and stage presence. 
I put a heavy emphasis on feeling comfortable and confident as a singer through discussing societal misconceptions around singing, and why we want to sing in the first place. 
This not only prepares some students to achieve their goals of public or internet performance. It is also vital to help students understand that singing is something they should do and deserve to do, even in the privacy of their own homes. 
- I use my Stage Fright Survival Guide to give my students a step-by-step plan for getting through pre-performance butterflies and feeling comfortable on stage.
When covering the Stage Fright Survival guide, I also make sure to deconstruct societal misconceptions about performance/singing in public. 
This works to help students graduate from viewing singing as "pass vs fail" to viewing it as a gift every singer gives to themselves and to their audience.

: : Meditation Lessons : : 

• The most important thing to me when working with students of any age or ability is: 
Learning that the success of meditation is not based on what happens during it, but simply sitting down to do it in the first place. 

Once my students see that meditation is not a complex nor strenuous exercise, that it is all based in simple mindfulness and relaxation techniques, and that ones mind does not need to be made "blank", they may realize how capable of meditating they have been all along. 
They may feel brave enough to try meditating all on their own. 

• I begin with brand new meditation students by teaching them about basic mindfulness meditation.
Mindfulness meditation does not center a certain goal, but rather encourages the meditator to passively notice what is happening in their  external environment, and eventually their internal environment. 

This gentle and judgement-free practice is very accessible and requires no stillness of mind or even patience of any kind. 
I find that beginning with mindfulness meditation helps to demystify meditation in general. 
And this demystification is key to building a gradual path towards independence and curiosity as to what ones mindfulness practice can be, even outside of class. 
 
• I also specialize in guided, full body relaxation. 
This is an excellent practice for beginners as well. 
Full body relaxation aids in insomnia, healing from trauma, releasing chronically tensed muscles and blockages, managing carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic stress, and decreasing anxiety and depression. 
This practice tends to be so relaxing that when my students are already tired, they will fall asleep! 
This is totally natural and welcomed, as you are here with me to be comfortable and supported, in whatever way your body and mind tell us they need. 

• I like to make it clear to all my student that I am not a licensed therapist or medical professional. 
I have been meditating with teachers, pre-recorded audio, and completely on my own since age 14. I have explored Mindfulness Meditation, Full Body Relaxation, Transcendental Meditation, and Hypnosis. 
Meditation helps me manage anxiety and depression, has helped me heal from trauma, and has been an absolutely integral part of my self care routine for over 14 years. 
I have come to learn that meditation is something we can learn, practice, and then take with us into our daily lives. We do not need to become Monks or dedicate every moment of our day to Mindfulness just to be able to meditate regularly, on our own. 

I want to be a resource to anyone looking to incorporate practical, easily accessible meditation into their lives. I am here to be a comrade and mentor to anyone interested in re-prioritizing or even just balancing their contemporary and fast-paced lives.

Lessons are really informative and loads of fun too!

Disorganized and she drags her student into her drama and problems rather than truly focus on the student and their needs and goals.  She did not use the takelessons platform, but she used Zoom.  She did not send me a link so she doesn't seem too technically proficient.  She rambles and is all over the place talking about technical challenges, different platforms like outschool.  I had to get her to start after ±12 minutes of rambling to do warm-up exercises.  My warm-up singing is concurrent with a recording of another lady who is singing.  She also didn't sing herself at all until I asked her to sing to show me how to do it.  After ±5 minutes, I asked her if there was any feedback and she said "I can't hear you so I can't give feedback."  Nice.  She supposedly has years of experience, but she doesn't seem to enjoy teaching or maybe it's because I'm a guy or maybe it's because I'm young or both.  I have no idea.  She didn't smile once and she seemed to want to milk the clock and just ramble on and on rather than conduct well-organized warm-ups, singing lessons, etc.  just because someone is good at something doesn't mean they can teach it.  I have zero interest in working with her again.  

We have fun!!  We will learn to sing a wide range of music.  We work on vocal skills but mostly learn different songs.  I have a rotation of songs.  Each song is used for 2 months, 3 new each month and e rotate off each month.

Hi!  I hope you will enjoy my classes.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology.  I worked in the telecommunications field for 10 years.  I have a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology and just need to finish my dissertation for my Educational Doctorate in eLearning and Organizational Leadership.  I formally taught English as a Foreign Language to children in China from home.  I love teaching.  
  I have a wide range of interests and hobbies.  I love gardening, sewing, needlework, crafts, singing, reading, and cooking.  I am currently an Arkansas Master Gardener.  I have 2 grown daughters, 3 granddaughters, and 1 grandson. 
  I work with children at my church and am excited to teach about Christ. 
  I have been singing and performing since I was 5 years old.  I studied voice at Collin County College and Texas Women's University.  I have taken private voice lessons and taught vocal coaching for over 15 years.

  I have been a sub teacher in the public schools for over 17 years.  I sub 4 days a week currently.  I have tutored all subjects and grades. I love reading and read a book each month. I took many singing lessons as a kid, and one thing that I took away was comfortability. Getting to know what a student, or you, are comfortable with is always so important if not one of the most valued things when it comes to a student-teacher relationship. Especially when learning how to sing, it can be nerve-wracking or seem embarrassing to sing in front of a stranger, but when you've done it a million times (like me), you learn ways to make things slightly easier on everyone. 

We will be going out of our comfort zones, that's how we learn, but I work on creating a relationship of trust, I'm not here to make you feel embarrassed or ridiculous, I'm here to help you grow as a vocalist. 

The lesson revolves around how you learn, not how I teach. Open communication is always encouraged, for example, if I'm talking about something you don't understand, tell me to back up! I am always willing to break things down and try to explain something in a way that makes sense to you.

Hey there! My name is Ky, I've been teaching privately for about 5 years and joined teaching with Austin City Lessons in May of 2022. When I'm not teaching, I'm performing all around the Austin Texas area in a band called Let Flo Go. My musical experience comes from many different music teachers over the years. I've taken multiple courses in vocal techniques (that's how you should and shouldn't sing), and to test out my skills, I've played over 200 shows in multiple states.

When learning how to sing, we will learn the healthiest way to maintain and grow your voice. I also work with those that struggle with pitch, maintaining a note, or going off key. Doing things such as breathing exercises, tongue twisters for pronunciation, plugging your nose, and talking like a witch, are all things we work on to create the best voice that you are capable of having. If you are taking lessons, I recommend practicing at least 3-4 times a week to maintain your growth. This prevents the repetition of lessons and is needed for your singing abilities to improve. 

 While I focus on teaching vocally, I am open to anyone that would like to learn how to play ukulele or guitar as they sing. I teach basic rhythm, chord structures, strumming patterns, etc. I'm currently taking piano lessons, so maybe in a little, I can add that to my teaching skills as well.

I focus my lessons on my student, I've learned how to say one thing in many different ways because we all learn differently! Music is my greatest passion and when I teach I hope that it is shared and creates an environment where you want to practice and learn more about the musical entity that you are! I am open to all beginner and intermediate levels of music.
