musical interests.

At the core, each student will master the instrument. All students will learn:

how music works and how to apply it to the guitar.

About Ronald
I am an experienced professional with a background in music performance, education, composition, theory and arranging.

*** Lesson Details ***
Few musicians or music students have identical goals, musical interests or physical size. So, It is NECESSARY to customize the course of study to meet student requirements. There are common issues for any serious pursuit of learning involving the guitar; right and left hand technique, fingerboard knowledge, chord knowledge, reading and interpretation.

However, to progress, it is also necessary for the student to practice daily.

I try to maintain a healthy balance between the focus on performance and technical issues.

Graduated from Georgia Southern in 2001, with a bachelor degree in music education and Boston University in 2015, with a masters in music education.

Have worked for Atlanta public schools as a band director since Fall 2002.

Private lessons are taught on piano, guitar, and all the band instruments.

I also have a deep passion for Disc jockeying with a bias towards reggae and dance music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students can except a stress free learning process. After learning the basic symbols of music notation, breathing, and simple rhythms the students will continue learning the techniques and fingerings on their chosen instrument. After mastering these basic concepts in music the children will then be given a chance to perform their songs to an instrumental accompaniment. This is good for the student who does not play
in an ensemble to have the opportunity to play and listen to other moving parts.

*** Specialties ***
music, bass guitar, bassoon, children's music, guitar, classical guitar, electric guitar, home recording, African drum, music theory, acoustic guitar, flute, oboe, trumpet, saxophone, tuba, songwriting, french horn, trombone, clarinet, recording school, piano
My method utilizes maracas and rhythm guitar, played Simultaneously to produce a full ensemble effect.

I studied jazz guitar, composition, and theory at the Mannes Conservatory in NYC, NY., and also with several private teachers.
I teach many styles, including rock, pop, blues, folk, and jazz.
(I do NOT play classical or flamenco.)
I tailor my lessons to meet the interests and learning styles of my students. I teach playing by ear, music reading, tablature, and theory. I enjoy teaching students of all ages - children, teens, and adults.
I make lessons fun for young children, by including some musical games and activities. With teens and adults, I have the students choose the songs and styles they wish to work on, and go from there.

This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. While my background is in classical guitar, I enjoy exploring other genres such as jazz guitar. If you're not sure what genre you want to study, let's first learn the basics and then go from there.

About Phil
I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and teaching since 2008. Along with teaching, I've also been pursuing music recording, an endeavor which has produced two full-length albums and one that is still in progress that should be released sometime in 2018.

*** Lesson Details ***
When teaching guitar or any other instrument, I typically use a method book to guide the lessons. In addition to the lesson book, which will cover music-reading, we'll learn scales, chords and strum patterns, among other things. I try to tailor each lesson according to the student's skill level and individual musical interests.

After learning the basics, we can learn different styles of music, including rock, blues, jazz, classical, etc. I look forward to exploring these genres with you!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my own instrument. I would ex
pect my student to have or to rent his/her own instrument.

My years of teaching have helped me to understand what it takes to make consistent progress in learning the guitar. My approach is focused on helping the student acquire habits that will aid them in forging solid technique and musicianship, consequently removing limitations to allow access to all the joy that music has to offer.

About Wes
I studied classical guitar and composition at Asbury College and later more in depth guitar studies rock, jazz, and classical at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I have been teaching steadily for the past ten years as well as spending my time with various other musical projects such as leading worship for my church, performing for various parties and weddings, and composing and recording music for a short film. I use my experience and broad understanding of music to inform the way that I teach, so that my students have a robust experience of all aspects of music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a lesson plan that I follow for beginning students to get them through the basics. As a teacher I am laid back, and positive, but always try to give the student a clear reflection of how they are progressing. I find that some students thrive with
a lot of structure and others prefer a looser approach and I am quite comfortable teaching both ways. If the student maintains a consistent practice regimen, they should be able to play songs from the radio within 3 or 4 months.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room with an amp, keyboard, computer, desk, parents can sit on couch in a separate room

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my student to provide their instrument (including amp if necessary) and any instructional materials required.

*** Specialties ***
I have had a lot of experience teaching beginning and intermediate students with method books, and have used them to teach reading, theory, technique, and repertoire. Most often, I take a slightly looser approach which I feel allows me to mold my teaching to fit the individual student's needs

Beginning guitar lessons include concepts such as simple chords progressing to full chords, barred chords and power chords. Both tablature and classical guitar note reading are used in lessons, with an emphasis on good technic and musicianship.

About Letha
With a performance degree from the University of Georgia, teaching certification from Georgia State and over 25 years of professional teaching experience, I am able to offer my students a diverse range of instructional resources.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons include a warmup, music theory work, vocal or instrumental technique and then a vast selection of song repertoire to support new ideas in both technique and theory. Students are directed to watch or listen to examples of master performances in their field of studies. Clear weekly goals are made between lessons and I am always encouraging! Whatever life throws at you during the week doesn't have to stop your studies cold- we will come up with a plan that fits your lifestyle.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a small Protools setup with microphones and a Kurzwell keyboard. I
like to be able to go online for some resources.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I regularly use the internet in lessons as well as standard published educational texts.

*** Specialties ***
I have been told that I am especially good at helping people make the jump from playing by rote to reading from the page. In vocal instruction, I am familiar with three schools of technique: the psycho-imagery school, the "anatomical" school, and the Italian "open throat" approach. My background in acting also contributes basic vocal projection techniques to vocal training. I am comfortable with all genres of music, including pop, rock, soul, R&B, gospel, jazz and opera. In instrumental studies, I am a woodwind doubler, reading fluently and transposing on-the-spot . As a jazz and gospel artist I improvise primarily on the flute and saxophone. My piano skills are equivalent to a second-year college piano major. I can improvise accompaniments as well as read piano scores. In addition to being a certified teacher in Georgia, I attained national certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2004.

This has led to her improvement and enjoyment of the school band. Letha's teaching style has fit well including providing positive feedback on the spot. I've been playing guitar for almost 50 years and love helping students reach their personal musical goals. I've studied with award-winning players and never stop improving my own skills. I want my students to enjoy music. After all, music is fun!

Each student is different and requires a different approach. We will establish your goals for playing and begin the journey to make those musical goals a reality.

With children or adults who want to learn to read music, I use method books. I encourage children to tell me the genres of music they enjoy so we can start playing their favorite songs as soon as possible. For adults who just want to learn to strum and sing or play with their favorite tunes, we start right in with chords and learn a simple song at the very first lesson.

I would be honored to guide you or your child on a very special musical journey!

About Jody
I'm a retired teacher who has played guitar for over 45 years. I'm a fingerstyle guitarist and perform at weddings and special events. I've taught most styles to all ages. I'm probably not the one to teach your teenager to play heavy metal, however. I do teach fingerpicking, fingerstyle, country, beginning to intermediate classical, pop, classic and even Hawaiian slack key. I specialize in beginning children and adults.

I also teach mountain dulcimer, ukulele, beginning bass guitar , and beginning piano.

With children, I use a method book to teach music fundamentals and balance that by encouraging the child to learn to play songs that interest him/her. With adults, I want to teach what you're interested in learning. I believe we learn best when we are excited by the material and challenged to reach the next level.

I have
taught special needs music students - Down's Syndrome, mild autism, adults with arthritis or who have suffered a stroke. My training as a teacher - I have a doctorate in education - makes me uniquely qualified to work with a wide range of student abilities. I spent 26 years in the classroom, the last 15 teaching gifted education.

I would be delighted to meet you and help you begin your musical journey!

The students I work with should have the goal of having fun and learning a new way to approach things, as music tests our minds continuously. I've had a blast making this my career as a touring musician and I could not imagine a better way to give back to the music community than to make sure the next generation gains the knowledge that was given to me in so many different scenarios. I hope to work with you and test you along the way to become a better musician as well as a better person. Thanks

About Codey
I was never told music could be a job and my goal with my students is them to grow as individuals, learn how to tackle tasks from an abstract perspective, and have A LOT of fun!!!
I've been going around to elementary schools doing careers days and teaching students locally for years and find this as good a way to give back as any. Music gave my life purpose and direction when I had none. I would LOVE to share a glimpse into my musical brain with you and your loved ones.
For the past three years I've play with the Atlanta "farm raised rock" band 'Codey Bearden's Tiny Kitchen and we've gotten the chance to see the majority of the east coast, wake up at the most beautiful places and play anywhere from the top of the Daytona Beach Pier on Memorial Day weekend to festivals tucked in on the side of mountains in Asheville, I've mad

I have been teaching guitar professionally for over 4 years in the Atlanta area. As a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University with a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance, I have developed a deep love for music and the guitar which I thoroughly enjoy sharing with my students. I currently teach and perform, traveling across the United States with various groups performing a multitude of genres, all of which I love teaching and sharing with eager students! I was not a "natural" guitarist, so I have a great method for making guitar/music make sense so that all of my students can be successful. I look forward to working with you!

About Patrick
I am a professional guitarist, composer, and educator living in the Greater Atlanta Area. I started playing guitar while in high school at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. I owe a lot of my success to my time spent here as this school is consistently ranked one of the top schools in the nation.
I wasn't a "naturally gifted' musician, so if you are just starting out don't worry! I've been there and I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks along the way to help you out!
After high school, I decided to further pursue my passion for music and was accepted to Kennesaw State University as a Jazz Performance Major. Shortly after arriving in Kennesaw I began performing all over Atlanta as a sideman in various groups and even started a few groups of my own. I have had some great opportunities to tour and travel across the United States playing
music, it is a really great feeling.I was a recipient of the GA Music Hall of Fame Talent Award in 2014 where I performed on national television for the first time. In 2016 I recorded an album with a good friend of mine, Morgan Guerin, entitled "The Saga" which reached #3 on the iTunes Jazz Charts on the first day of its release.

I have recently graduated from KSU with my Jazz Degree and have been teaching and performing extensively. Teaching has been a very rewarding part of my life, it has given me the opportunity to learn and grow as a musician in ways that performing simply cannot compete with. I really look forward to working with you and being a part of your musical journey!
