A high-quality studio with a teacher trained by Julliard graduates. I strive to help students achieve goals small and large. I believe establishing proper technique and efficient practicing habits as early as possible opens doors. You don't want to take forever learning pieces and I don't want you to struggle forever. My goals are:
-Provide a comfortable, encouraging atmosphere that inspires growth in and outside of music.
-Inspire a life-long love of music.
-Provide optional performance and competition opportunities in the community.
-Develop a work ethic that blends with other areas of life.
-Most importantly, we have fun at this studio! (We may have a pool party social event for the kids but no promises just yet.)

About Grace

As a graduate of Berklee College of Music, I hope to share my "expensive" knowledge of Music theory in a more approachable way. Music theory through composition and production techniques. "Huh?", you ask? No worries, I teach music theory to what inspires you, by creating and analyzing songs that you love. It's fun and helps you to learn more. Slow and steady is my motto but each student has his/her own pace and we will go through it together. You could learn the usual way which is diving straight into music theory or you could go into a less academic yet knowledgable and fun way. This approach is great for beginners of any age cause it helps you develop what you want to learn so that you don't forget.

If you are looking for professional music lessons for learning to play the piano, I am a perfect match for you.
I am a professional pianist with substantial experience in teaching piano for students of different ages. I hold a Mater of Music in Piano Performance from Kharkiv National University of Arts, Ukraine, and a Master of Music degree from Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy, Germany in cooperation with " Giacomo Puccini's" State Music Conservatory, Italy.
While in Germany, I was performing as a solo pianist, playing chamber music and teaching at a private music academy.
As an experienced piano teacher I would say that no matter what kind/style of music you prefer to play, it is always better to have a classical background. It does not mean that you only need to focus on the classics, but learning and working on things like your technique, understanding harmony and music theory will help you in the future no matter what you decide to do: teaching, performing, ...

I've been taking lessons from Scotty for over a year and have learned a lot about theory, form, and style. Had taken lessons from other instructors and felt that I should had been further along after 1 year. One hour lesson time is perfect for me and I always leave wishing I had more time.

Great Teacher

Great teacher takes time to cover theory of music, and does hour lessons unlike most teachers in town who do 30min lessons. Have taken lessons from other teachers in the past, and all they do is teach you songs without explaining the reasoning behind it. Have learned more in the last few months then I’ve learn in years with other teachers.

"I started receiving lessons from David a few years ago, to improve my guitar abilities. I always used to tell people, "I've been playing guitar since the Eighties, though you would never know it." At the time I started, I knew some Metal riffs, three-chord Punk Rock progressions, and simple 12-bar blues. Though I took two guitar classes and first-year Music Theory in college in the early Nineties, the only scale I could say I knew was "blues pentatonic," emphasis on the quotation marks.

My goal was to relearn Modes/Scales, and brush up on theory, so that I could write more complex material. David taught me that, and so much more. Over these few years, I've learned Progressive Rock, Fusion/Jazz, and even some Country styles, as well as a great deal more about Metal and, yes, even Punk from David. I can play leads and solos with much more proficiency, in timing with the rhythm, and more tonally correct, than I ever could before. He has also helped me read music better, construct more professional-sounding compositions, and has started me on my own path to produce my own recordings, from recommending and using recording software, to capturing dynamics with mic placement, to mixing the rough takes to get the most out of the sound.

For a musician of any level or caliber, having an instructor like David is a true asset--for he has the knowledge and skills to take an entry-level musician every step of the way to becoming a professional performer, recorder, mixer, engineer, and producer. The only limit to the lesson's potential is your own level of determination, which David quite expertly helps you to improve with every session. Even if your goal is to simply learn to play one song on one instrument--and David teaches MANY instruments--he will have you playing that song like the musician who wrote it before you realize it--as long as you stick with your practice between lessons. That part's up to you!"

6 Tips for Singing and Playing the Piano at the Same Time

Artists like Billy Joel and Elton John may make it look effortless, but singing and playing the piano at the same time takes time and practice to truly master! Understandably, it’s difficult because you’re multitasking by "playing" two instruments simultaneously – your voice and the piano. It’s easy to lose concentration on one, while the other goes a little off; if you focus on your voice, you might mess up the timing with your fingers, and should you pay too much attention to the p …
