I am an orchestral clarinetist, K-12 music teacher and home school parent offering Christian clarinet lessons to students ages 10 and older. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA, a Master of Arts in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and I have studied with teachers who graduated from Julliard and Manhattan School of Music. I have also been influenced by the teaching style and signature sound of clarinetist David Weber, as well as Russian and Slavic traditions of teaching, all of which emphasize the art of clarinet playing - the combination of proper technique with fluent, beautiful musicality. I have a passion to help my students enjoy making music for the glory of God and offer lessons which are fun and inspiring!

My name is Andrea Trudeau. I am a homeschooling mother of four. We have been homeschooling for almost twenty years. It has been such a journey, learning and improving as we go. One great addition to our homeschooling is music. My children have all played instruments and sang in choirs. Driving around to all these activities was taxing at times. When we met David Knizewski and learned that he taught clarinet lessons online, I was interested, but skeptical. I liked the idea of not having to drive to one more activity, but I wondered how the quality of the lesson would be. Well, it has been working out wonderfully. It feels as though David is in the room. His warmth and charisma flow through the computer! David is a skilled teacher. He is able to explain and demonstrate even though it is all over the computer. I don’t know how he does it, but he does. Another blessing to doing this type of lessons is that we never had to stop, due to COVID-19. We were able to continue with the lessons, uninterrupted. I highly recommend it!
Libby
He is a very enthusiastic teacher who puts a lot of time and effort into the lessons. He breaks challenging things down in a way that is easy to understand and is very patient. I highly recommend him!

I first met David Knizewski when he was hired as the music teacher at our PS-12 private school, Wakefield Country Day School. What I loved most about David as a teacher was that he respected his students enough to expect the best from them and also to expose them to the fundamentals of music theory and rich timeless classics and classical pieces. There seems to be a trend today to dumb things down in an attempt to always make make learning "fun." David helped the students understand that there is a deeper joy to be found in stretching themselves to put forth their best effort in learning these more challenging pieces and appreciating the beauty that results in doing something well. No matter how cringe-worthy (in some cases) the result might have been for these budding musicians, David always beamed with pride in their doing their very best. On a personal note, David was the first person who noticed that our daughter had a special talent for vocal performance. She was in elementary school at the time, and as her non-musical mother, this was difficult for me to perceive. He worked with her to help her develop good singing habits. She has had a number of voice teachers since those days and today she is double majoring in vocal performance and speech and hearing sciences in her freshman year in college. I wonder sometimes if we would have invested in her gift that has brought joy to so many, if David had not been such an encouragement to her in those early days. He also worked with my son personally with instruction in Clarinet. I was amazed at how much he learned in a very short time.

Instruction also includes how to play correctly so as not to develop negative playing habits. In the case that you have developed negative playing habits, how to correct them.

Emphasis is also placed on proper warm up techniques, stretching exercises, holding the sticks correctly, posture, plus drum kit "throne" seat placement, and correct stance, if playing concert snare or percussion. Independence is also developed through simple easy to grasp exercises. In addition, drum exercises are individually tailored to the particular needs of each student.

Chuck has also developed a special ear training method utilizing CD and MP3 technology. This method reduces the amount of time it normally takes to develop good listening skills. These listening skills decrease the time that it takes to learn new songs, and learn how to interact with other musicians.

"Milton has been a really good fit for our son, because he is easy-going, knowledgeable and always comes ready to teach something new. His relaxed style suits our household without seeming unprofessional, and he is extremely encouraging. These lessons all started during a rough medical situation for our son, and Milton just rolled with it, making sure our son created music and didn't focus only on his health. It also gave our son something positive and creative to work on, making him feel less like an invalid and more like a musician. Overall, we have been so happy with Milton and would highly recommend him to anyone."

"At 40, I decided to pick up the tuba that I’d kept since playing in college. I wanted to get off to a solid start. I found in Bryan a solid teacher with a wealth of all sorts of musical knowledge. I implemented the lessons into practice and felt myself grow stronger in some areas than I had ever experienced in my first 10 years of practice and learning. I was also able to see a marked improvement in my bass guitar skills by applying many of the same concepts to the playing of that instrument. These lessons have been a great investment for my musicianship."

"Aaron is a really great musician, a phenomenal teacher, and just an all-around awesome person to work with. I took guitar lessons with Aaron for about two years and he was very accommodating for my busy, inconsistent schedule. He is a great listener and really tries to cater his lesson plans to his student’s interests. While I was studying with Aaron we covered a huge spectrum of genres including funk, jazz, rock, r&b, and studied artists like Led Zeppelin, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and John Scofield, all according to my own personal interests. In addition to teaching you the songs that you want to learn, Aaron is also really great at finding easy and relatable ways to integrate theory and technique into his lessons plans. I found that almost every lesson I would walk away with some useful or nifty trick that helped me understand and navigate the fret-board a little better. He’s got great taste in music, and will inevitably introduce you to some really awesome new artists and songs that can help you to expand your musical interests. I also love writing music, and Aaron spent a lot of his personal time helping me write, record and produce my songs. Whether you are a beginner or have just gotten out of music school, I would highly recommend studying with Aaron. Stop by Wally’s Cafe any Tuesday night to hear him play and you’ll know why!"

"More than just a teacher.

I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently.

Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him."
