I achieved my Juris Doctor at California Western School of Law in April of 2016, but a traditional law career is not one that I envision for myself. I want a career that is meaningful, gives me purpose, and has a positive effect on other people's lives. Prior to law school, I honed my writing and editing skills and worked full-time as a certified teacher. I worked on creating school curriculums for school districts in the United States. The more work I do, the more solidified my goal to help anyone in whatever capacity I can.

My past students are from different corners of the world, age groups, generations, and lifestyles. It was a pleasure helping them navigate the complex rules of the English language.

In my free time, I enjoy creative writing, journalism, and yoga. My poems have been published in books, my news articles published b

After 15 years working in high-tech I had enough of the constant stress, demanding work and long hours scrunched at my desk trying to solve other peoples issues. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next so I started taking classes in anything that sounded interesting. I took my first cooking class at the local community college and loved the way it made me feel. It wasn't until I took my first baking class in this degree program that I knew I was home. After graduating with a hospitality management degree, I transferred to Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island to earn a degree in Pastry Arts

My first job was with the Rhode Island Hospital. This hospital had received great recognition for the quality of food the kitchen produced. The director wanted to create a pastry program to expand the selections even more. Thus starte
d my career.

Coming back to the bay area, I wanted a more autonomous position, so I went into business for my self; first with a whole sale bakery which morphed into a catering business. I did this for 12 years, and loved it. All this time I was teaching community baking classes, adult education baking and pastry classes, and teaching part time at Mission College in Santa Clara.

I was then asked by Mission Valley ROP program to create a culinary/pastry program from scratch. It was a real challenge, but I found I really like challenges. From there I went to work for Whole Foods as a Pastry Chef.

After a few years of working for WFM I started teaching at the Art Institute in San Francisco. From there I went to Le Cordon Bleu, Also in San Francisco.

In the middle of all this I got married to a wonderful man.

The Cordon Bleu closed in September of 2016. Which brings me to the present. I am passionate about teaching baking and pastry, and hope to create a program which will allow students to understand baking, not to just follow recipes. My goal is to flame the creativity, and passion in my student, and fuel the desire to keep learning.

We hired Stephanie to do baking classes for my 11 year old daughter and could not be more pleased!! I came home yesterday to not only delicious pastries, but a brightness and pride on my daughter's face that is rare for her. Seeing her shine and develop her passion is priceless! Thank you Stephanie and we look forward to many more lessons in the future!

Had a great time learning the basics of pie and bread making with Chef Stephanie. She is very knowledgeable, patient and hands on. She helped create a curriculum that I was interested in and was well organized, so I was able to have everything I needed before the class to ensure it's success.

Taryn studied fashion design and art therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She worked for Anna Sui and milliner Tracy Watts.

Taryn first started teaching sewing to displaced youth at Hollywood Arts 10+ years ago. She taught "R'ashion" (recycle fashion/sewing) at Environmental Charter High School for 5 years. She headlines EcoFashion workshops all around the world including Zambia, South Africa, and recently at the Green School in Bali. Jack Johnson has donated leftover Tour T-shirts so she could do upcycling workshops at schools. And she's had the opportunity to teach celebrities how to sew at the EcoDivas Upcycling Lab at Sundance. (DJ Aoki was the most fun.)

She taught “Sustainability and the Fashion Industry” at FIDM for 7 years. She is the founder of Beyond the Label, a charitable organization that gets people
to think about "What's in my tee?" She encourages people to think of fabric like ingredients and does whatever she can to relate food to fashion including making nutrition label T-shirts to show what's actually in the tee. Due to multiple allergies, you can learn healthy alternatives of what to put in and on your body.

She is on the Advisory Board for Fashion Revolution USA, and the Fashion Department at Santa Monica College AND LOVES TO NERD OUT ABOUT SUSTAINABLE FASHION AND HEALTHY FABRICS.

My 7 year old daughter had been asking to take sewing lessons for months. She's learned so much in a short amount of time. She’s learned both hand sewing and machine sewing techniques and is looking forward to her next lesson.

Chef Anna hosted a handful of dinner parties at my home in Boulder, Colorado. Everything was amazing, of course, especially the delectable confections she whipped up for our daughter's bridal shower. She and her catering partner Carrie came to teach us a French macaron class and it was amazing!
