Baking is a hobby of mine. I will teach you a few organizational tricks regarding effective ways of laying out the ingredients ahead of time that expedite the mixing processes and make putting them together a smooth and enjoyable experience. I will reinforce the importance of keeping the wet and dry ingredients separate for as long as possible. I will also introduce some clever ways of dusting an oiled pan with flour before inserting the batter.

About Samuel

I've been a performing singer-songwriter since 1993. My influences include Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Richie Havens. I've been teaching private lessons since 2011 and I tailor my lessons according to the individual needs of my students. Everyone learns at a different pace and in a different way. My objective is to provide instruction that both challenges as well as respects your rate of progress. I'm a primarily self-taught musician. Although I impart knowledge of scales (the major and the blues ones specifically) and the theory behind them (both of which I learned from formal instruction) as a central component of my curriculum, the bulk of my knowledge came from listening to and imitating delta blues artists such as Robert ...

I have had known Sam for many years. I am friends with his parents and his sister Emmy, also a very talented musician.
Although I don't live near him, unfortunately, when he visits NYC I make it a point to check in with him and ask for his his advice on my rather limited guitar skills. I always come away from our sessions feeling much better about my playing and can see what an improvement he has made for me. He is very patient and so eager to help, even a beginner like myself. i just wish he lived closer!

When I joined Sasona's housing cooperative community, I didn't know how to do anything. Sam provided an orientation for me that was above and beyond. Whenever I didn't know how to do something I knew I could ask him and he would not only tell me how, he would teach me how. Teaching is an integral part of who he is. He is conscientious, compassionate, and committed to his students. I absolutely recommend him as an instructor for people of all ages.

Having taken almost a dozen lessons from Sam, I can say with assurance that he is a competent, serious and sensitive instructor. Before the first lesson he inquired as to my purpose in learning the guitar and my goals. He then tailored his instruction accordingly.

As to his competence, he is a talented artist who plays with mastery and teaches with the belief that with time and practice, the student can attain comparable skill. He looks for and provides alternative methods when I have difficulty with a chord. He provides links to artists online so I can work on subtle changes in a tune during my week's practice.

Sam teaches scales which we review at each session. We also review songs/chords with an emphasis on clarity and rhythm (and graciously, not my singing). He is very serious about getting it 'right', but he is also sensitive.

Besides being sensitive in correcting mistakes, he is also sensitive to my preference in music. Without abandoning the basics, he is kindly teaching me more Blues songs than campfire ones since I like the moody melodies.

I'm very pleased and happy with my experience as Sam's student.

In this course, you will learn how to make a cake from scratch and your own frosting using unsalted butter. We will walk through the basic techniques and I will show you how to decorate the cake using simple old fashioned decorating with simple kitchen utensils.

About Kayisha

Kayisha started cooking and baking at the age of 10 in her parents kitchen in FarRockaway, NY. Kayisha's parents left her home as they had Season tickets to a Knicks Game at Madison Square Garden. Her older siblings were suppose to come home to babysit her. Out of boredom and curiosity, Kayisha decided to open up a cake box mix and voila a baker was born. Her parents came home to a baked and frosted cake. The siblings were ground :) Kayisha was on a hiatus from baking as she completed her undergraduate studies. She picked up her spatula back after graduating from LIU. She hasn't put it down since. She took cake decorating courses at Viking Cooking School of Atlanta, Cake Art, and Wilton. And, she started teaching for Wilton Industries from 2008/2009 as a Cake Decorating Instructor.

Chelsea has been a wonderful acting instructor for my daughter. She covers what my daughter will need to know for her future in acting and really helps her understand what she needs to do. She also does more than just teach, she has been invaluable to different resources and really has my daughter's best interest in mind with everything she does. My daughter is more outgoing and not afraid to be silly in front of others anymore. She can't wait to do more acting because of Chelsea's teaching and support.

Chelsea has been giving my 14 year old son acting lessons. She is wonderful. He is a new student to acting and she is not only speaking to him as an educator but as someone with her own experience as a young though very knowledgeable, actor. My son is very shy and introverted and this is a great way for him to come out of his shell and we couldn't have picked a better instructor. She listens to his concerns and gives him great advice. We will definitely be signing up for additional lessons with Chelsea!!

A great, intuitive teacher/weight-loss coach. She knows what she's talking about and is capable of working with you to create a plan or help you with the path you're already on. Offers advice and guidance but doesn't force you into any dietary dogma. Makes herself available in-between lessons if need be. Knowledgeable, funny, and easy to talk to.

Cheyenne is a former employee of mine at a Huntington Learning Center. She worked as an ACT and SAT tutor. I found her to be outstanding in her knowledge of the content and the test structure. More importantly, she is the type of individual who has a knack for finding ways to explain things in meaningful ways to students of all capacities. She always found a way to convey material in interesting, relatable ways to her students and always kept them engaged.

Cheyenne and I really connected... we're more than just a tutor and a student, we're friends... but she still teaches me a lot and knows how to be both a tutor and a friend, which is what I need. So many tutors are SO dry and boring but Cheyenne is not. Before working with Cheyenne I worked with 3 other tutors, and she is the first one that actually helped me improve my ACT score, because I can actually stay awake when she's talking.

I am really a smart person, I just didn't do my homework and failed Chemistry last year. I came to Cheyenne to retake it and she helped me pass it with an A! I was really having trouble understanding stoichiometry and organic chemistry but Cheyenne was really good at teaching it and now I totally get it.
