As a younger brother at the age of five, I began studying the piano because my older sister did. After my foundation in music strengthened I fell in love with the trumpet. At first, each note took time to develop and I enjoyed the challenge. The trumpet allowed me to travel all over the Southeast later in life and even to China with a 1940's Radio Show. I enjoyed many top-level bands the kindled my love and passion for good music. I want to share that kindling with my students in a nurturing and guiding situation, just like my teachers gave me. Nicole is a musician that wears many hats. She has been featured in The New Yorker, Time Out New York, and New York Magazine for her project "The Titanics," a big band in which she acts as pianist and lead arranger, and she has recently performed solo Classical repertoire at the prestigious 92Y. In the past, she placed in several piano competitions, and more recently she was a winner of the 2014 Hunter Symphony Concerto Competition. She completed her B.M. in piano performance at Georgia State University, during which time she performed at various venues in Atlanta such as the Rialto Theater. I have studied music since I was seven years old, and I have a real passion for sharing music with others. I have 2 bachelors degrees in music, (one in music education, one in performance) from Brooklyn College, and a masters degree from Manhattan School of Music. I perform regularly around the world, and I use my real world experience to hone in on what you need to accomplish your musical goals. I have spent substantial time in New York City Public School music classrooms assisting and teaching with fellow instructors, and my private students have gained awards and admission to regional and state honor groups.
I completed my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a certificate in Music in Education from the New England Conservatory of music and completed a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland Opera Studio. I have performed in places such as the historic Jordan Hall, Avery Fischer Hall, Carnegie Hall, The Cornerstone Arts Center, the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and the National Gallery of Art.
