About Mya Mya Seinn
Hello there!

My name is Mya and I am a very patient instructor and understand that students learn at a different pace, after all everyone is an individual!

Availability changes every week and please contact me for availability.

I received my degree in Geology from Yangon University in Yangon, Burma in 1993. After I moved to New York City in 2005, I earned a M.A. (Geology) from The City College of New York in 2010. I learned crocheting and sewing from my mother. I also took a bauble, bangle and bead string class, Draping I and II classes, and pattern making I and II classes from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

I’ve been teaching private sewing lesson (since 1998), beading and pearl knotting lesson (since 2009), and Burmese language (since 2014) and I have loved helping my students.
Although trained in
standard teaching methods, I developed my own method to fulfill my students’ needs.

I am looking forward to helping new students to achieve their goals!

Ok...First I have to say, I am so pleased to have signed up for classes with Mya. Choosing to take sewing classes with Mya is hands down one of the best decisions I made and will continue to make. She is intelligent, very knowledgeable in her craft (or rather crafts), friendly, considerate, patient, and a great conversationalist. I hands down recommend taking a class or classes with her.

Mya Mya is helping my daughter alter her prom dress. Obviously, my daughter was anxious about it, but with her calm and relaxed personality, Mya Mya immediately put my daughter at ease and now my she feels happy and empowered about this project.

The sewing studio is beautiful, quiet, clean and welcoming. Perfect for immersing yourself on your sewing adventure. We are truly fortunate to have found Mya Mya.

Mya was an awesome teacher! I am/was a complete novice prior to this lesson and, after an hour, she had me confident enough to go out and buy my own machine and start practicing with easy projects. After I get all set up at home and get some practice in, I will most definitely be returning for more lessons! I also love that she sent me home with notes and the practice samples we did so I can remember them later. Great experience - will definitely be back!

Greeting! I love to crochet, and have been doing so since my grandmother taught me as a child. I have made everything from dish cloths, to purses and bags, clothing, blankets and wall tapestries, using many different stitches. Crocheting has become one of my artistic passions. I love making beautiful things, and would like to teach you how as well! My goal is for you to start creating something beautiful from your very first lesson. We'll start with the basics, then grow from there, accomplishing a goal you have set. You will also experiment with different fibers and different size hooks. Crocheting may just become one of your ways of artistic expression too!

About Cheryl

I am a very back-to-basics teacher. Crochet is a craft where learning the absolute basics will allow you to create incredible things. Just using the basics of chaining, single crochet, double crochet, color changing, and crochet in the round, I was able to invent patterns for a create over a dozen unique pillows for my friends. Learning a stitch like a half-double back post crochet may sound impressive, and can allow you to create a unique design, but it's not necessary to make something beautiful.

I will walk you through the basics of crochet and teach you to make a few basic things to get a feel for the craft. I can also assist you in reading a pattern you may have found somewhere, as well as trying to determine how something you found was made so you can try to recreate it. I will also walk you through the basic terminology and mechanics of the craft, such a hook size, yarn weight, and things like that.

About Samuel
I am a law student currently looking to do some extra work and make a little money on the side. I began to crochet about three and a half years ago, picking up a how-to book, a hook, and some yarn from my local Micheals. I wanted something to do with my hands while watching TV aside from playing Minecraft for the thousandth time, and crochet became the answer.

Crochet is an excellent hobby, especially for a person with ADHD like myself. It allows me to occupy my hands when doing something else, while at the same time creating creative and useful. It can also be a great stress reliever, allowing you to get lost in the repetitive, almost mindless motions of the hook and yarn.

I look forward to meeting with you and passing on the knowledge I have acquired.
