Did you hate math as a child? Was it dry and boring? These days math is taught through so many methods (including games and contests) that most of my classroom students look forward to our math lessons! For parents who are taking part in distance learning, I understand the challenges of navigating a school’s assigned curriculum and the various ways of reaching their goals. I would love to be the person to take that duty off your list! I have a fully stocked classroom here at home and I am prepared to teach in whatever way works best with your child’s learning style. I promise you, your child will feel successful and this drives them to keep moving ahead! I have taught all subjects in both elementary and middle school. However, elementary math is where the fun is! I look forward to meeting your child, and beginning our journey of growth, success, and only the memory of the frustration of teaching your own child!

Students can expect detailed examples using real life scenarios to help understand math concepts. My goal is to ensure students have a strong foundation and are able to demonstrate that comprehension by creatively making their own examples after leaning something new.

I am a math and physics tutor with a first class Bachelor's degree in mathematics from Imperial College London. I also took the Part III of the Mathematical Tripos course, which is a world renown graduate course at the University of Cambridge. I will also graduate with a PhD in physics from The University of Texas at San Antonio on May 2020. I have 4-5 years of teaching experience from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
My availability is flexible and I can help with homework problems and boosting confidence. My goal is to help students not only solve problems but also to help them understand and highlight fundamental concepts and principles in order for them to see the bigger picture. This way students will see how various ideas in math or physics are connected and hopefully then develop an enthusiasm for the subject.

Hello,
My name is Hiyab. I have taught math for seven years. I was an elementary teacher until three years ago, and now I focus on private tutoring. I have always pushed my students to do well and perform the best of their abilities in any subject. I believe that students can learn best when provided with the proper materials in addition to having a capable teacher who can communicate and deliver the materials properly. Throughout my job as a tutor, I have always made sure that my students are satisfied with the lessons I provide. I am very punctual and value my clients time.

Hiyab met us online through the Zoom portal and cut straight to the bigger challenge. My son doesn’t know how to organize his homework! Hiyab told him to write his numbers in a smaller size which changed everything -- now there is space on the page to organize his work. He showed my son how to number his homework problems 1), 2), 3). Hiyab gave him a trick to put “/” marks between the steps of his math problems. After my son saw HOW to organize “showing his work”, Hiyab started going through the examples in the workbook which actually teach you how to “show your work”.
I really like our school district. I appreciate our teachers, but they just do not have an hour to sit down with each and every kid to get them on track. It is totally worth it to me to get my son the help he needs from someone like Hiyab -- he is great!
