About Virginia
Welcome to Takelessons.com! There are many lovely teachers on this site. I am here to help you succeed. I offer English, Writing, Piano, Math, Test Preparation, Dissertation writing, and Homework help.

Music: I can offer you a well rounded plan of study and you can choose what and how you would like to learn. For example, young students generally want to learn to read the notes. For these I give classes in theory, music history, ear training, and technique along with the note reading. Older students generally want to learn to play songs they know by learning notes in the right hand and putting chords in the left hand. For these students, I emphasize the theory so they will understand what notes go together to make a nice sound.

My background has been in church music. I started playing at church for services when I was 16 years old.

I am a licensed Spanish teacher for grades 7-12. I learned Spanish, my second language, by living with a Spanish family in Valencia, Spain, and by studying at the University of Valencia for two semesters. I am in my 9th year of teaching Junior High/High School Spanish, and I also have been tutoring Spanish one-on-one as well as group lessons for 7 years.

Thanks to the internet, I invite the world into our lessons! I use many online resources to support all facets of the learning process, i.e., reading, listening, writing, speaking (the highest rung for the skill ladder). This approach enables my students to practice/grow between lessons, AND it exposes them to the many different sounds of Spanish (depending on which of the 21 Spanish-speaking countries the speaker is from). When I am supporting Spanish students, these websites are particularly helpful with more difficult grammar tasks. When the student I am tutoring uses such websites during our lessons, s/he is provided with ...

About Cheryl
I am a Licensed Spanish Teacher, and I am fluent, flexible and fun!! I would love to help you with Spanish--whether you are just beginning or in AP classes!

Why? Because I love Spanish! I began learning Spanish in a middle school in the Midwest. It was my second language--just like it is for you. So, I know what helped me remember the vocabulary and the grammar rules, and I am ready to share my personal tips and tricks with you.

My immersion experience included living with a Spanish family in Valencia, Spain, and by studying at the University of Valencia for two semesters. What an eye-opening experience!!

I have completed 9 years of classroom teaching at the Junior High/High School level. I also have been tutoring Spanish since 2012. Besides supporting middle/high school and college students, I also taught a 6-month course
to managers at a distribution center for a very popular fast-food chain.

So, when would you like me to start helping you improve your progress in Spanish? I am ready when you are!

Learning Spanish could be easier and faster than you think...
If you want to learn or improve your Spanish skills, taking lessons with a native speaker is the way to go. I'm a native Spanish speaker who knows how to address students needs and provides efficient tutoring by evaluating the student's current level during the first talk and setting small goals that help to gain confidence.
Regardless of the student's age, there are always 2 things that make a lesson successful and valuable, and those are having fun while learning and practicing new concepts with examples that are interesting to the person.

About Augusto

Take Lessons with a Native speaker, in a communicative environment. My focus for the lesson is that you learn in context with real life situations. Grammar structures are very important to learn a language but to memorize them and learn them isolated and out of context would be boring and tedious. So, in my classes I offer you to feel you are using the language in real situation and with meaningful understanding, in this way you will acquire language skills forever and will never say that you study Spanish for years but cannot speak it.
I love using different resources such as songs, videos, skits, technology tools, among many others to strength your language skills.

About Diana
Hola!!! I am a Spanish native speaker from Colombia. I love teaching and sharing information from my Hispanic culture. I have been a teacher for 11 years and I have experience teaching all levels from children to adults.
I offer you a unique experience with a communicative approach that will focus on producing the language wile understanding in the context of real life situations. Grammar and vocabulary will come along with it bit not with the tedious memorizing and repeating process. You will acquire the language and be able to communicate just like you did with your first language.
I use different strategies and personalized your lessons according to your needs and goals. I look forward to having an awesome experience with great students.

I've enjoyed learning this captivating Latin language and I'm confident that you'll too!

About Dana
Hi!

First of all, I have to say that I am a proud mom of a 5 years old girl and a 8 years old boy. I work part-time as a Group Exercise Instructor since I have always enjoyed working out and staying active.

Secondly, I am very excited to be part of your succes in learning a new language since I know and I have seen the positive impact of mastering an another language in my own kids. My current job allowes me to spend the rest of my time with the kids which is amazing and I'm very grateful for. My kids first language is English, but the Romanian and Spanish language is what we speak the rest of the time. The best way to learn a language is by practicing it every day!😉

Last, but not least, I would love to be able to help you learn any of these languages, so please let me know when you want to start!

I am a personal trainer for your brain. I get to know you and figure out what is unique about your individual learning. From there, I design customized lessons and plans to help you master the target language (Italian or Spanish.)

As someone born speaking English, it took many different approaches for me to find what worked for me. I have been fluent in these languages and have gone on to Masters and Doctoral studies conducted exclusively in the language. Once I found what worked for me, there was nothing stopping me. My personal philosophy is "anyone can learn a language: it's all about finding what works for you!"

About Samantha
¡Hola!/ Ciao! My name is Samantha. I am a NYC based language teacher in both Italian and Spanish. I have experience teaching levels from corporate, to University , to college preparatory high schools! I have been teaching my unique language acquisition techniques around the world since 2010.

I would be a great teacher (or coach) for you as I know where you are and where you need to be. I, too, am a non native speaker. So why pay me when you can get a native speaker for $20 an hour: because I know what struggles you have as a native English speaker and how to train your brain towards a path of potential fluency! Vocabulary cards and worksheets are not going to get you to enjoy a fluid conversation with a native at a caffe in Mexico City or in Rome. You need someone to walk you through the "false friends" and logic of idiomatic expression
s while bringing you into immersion. I can help you do this!

I gained mastery of these languages both from studying/living abroad and from my nearly decade of graduate studies at the Middlebury College Language schools (Masters and Doctoral studies done exclusively in the target languages)

I began my career teaching in companies such as: Exxon Mobile, La Nación, and CABJ Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I taught English and Italian native Spanish teachers. I weaned them off their own languages in order to learn new ones. I went on to teach in Padua, Italy afterwards at the British Institute.

In 2013, I began teaching Spanish and Italian at the University level. I taught college students ages 17- 65 techniques in order to introduce them to these languages. I taught at Mercy College, CUNY, and at Pace University.

In 2018, I began my teaching career in Secondary Education at Xavier High School (an all boys Jesuit prep school.) I went on to teach Co-Ed at St. Edmund Prep, where I currently teach 160 young men and women Spanish 2&3 and IB Italian 1&2. I love helping my students think outside the box in order to grasp materials they may not have fully understood before. I also love helping my students speak and write in the languages with unique assignments of acting and creative writing.

I love what I do! Let me help you reach your language goals. It won't be easy, but we can do this together!
