Samir is an excellent language tutor! He can craft lessons to suit any needs whether you are a beginner or advanced! He also provides relevant supplementary materials so that you can practice and apply the theories learned in your lesson. I found that this consistent practice with actual speaking was a big factor to achieving better spoken fluency with my language of study, arabic. I highly recommend Samir as you will not be disappointed.

For homework, Samir sent me several videos of Moroccan dialect. We discussed the vocabulary during the lesson; as always, he provided many examples to demonstrate the broader usage of the words. He is a skilled teacher. Highly recommended.

About Valentina
• Russian native speaker
• Professional proficiency in English and German
• Familiar with Romanian and Turkish language
• Experienced instructor
• Able to plan and organize a classroom curriculum
• Able to communicate and coordinate with a wide range of individuals

Hello, my name is Valentina. I'm a Russian and German teacher.

German

I specialize in teaching German at the High School level. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in German and spent a year working and studying in Munich, Germany. I then found work in a private school and instructed over one hundred students. I have since continued tutoring individually specializing with online lessons.

My goal is to improve my students’ language skill through conversation and I push my students to speak German from the first lesson. I believe this helps students gain fluency an
d lose their fear of making mistakes while speaking. No one can be perfect in a month but the student needs to be comfortable enough with grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation so that they can communicate in German and improve through conversation and dialog.

My youngest students were 6 years old and I have also taught older students. I enjoy working with children and am fascinated by how quickly young students can learn and grasp languages. Especially when learning is incorporated in a game where a student can passively learn to use new vocabulary as a tool to win a game among others. I am very grateful for all my students and the wide variety of experiences that I have had interacting with them.

Russian

I am an experienced language teacher. My experience is teaching German as a second or third language to Russian and Romanian speakers, but since I am a native Russian speaker I can use what I have learned teaching German to teach Russian.

My teaching philosophy is to learn through practice. Everyone makes mistakes and part of learning a new language is overcoming the fear of making mistakes and being willing to work through errors to convey an idea or thought. People learn a language best when they use it as a tool to achieve a goal.

I am a native Russian speaker and I have studied Russian since elementary school. I graduated from Chishinau university, where 40% of the courses are taught in Russian including Russian grammar and literature. I have taught private courses as a German teacher, to Russian speakers, and therefore I have experience explaining Russian grammar and conversation. I have a deep appreciation for Russia’s literary heritage and am constantly reading classic Russian texts.

I have experience teaching online Russian language to English students. My materials are adapted to English speakers and my beginner students are excited and able to engage in Russian small talk within 6-8 lessons. My lessons are efficient, well planned and productive.

I’ll teach you spelling and grammar rules, I’ll extend you vocabulary and we will always be practicing and reviewing previously learned the material. I help encourage my students to study Russian. With me, you will smoothly move from a beginner to more advanced. I create a low stress and efficient learning environment.

I enjoy working with children but also find it rewarding to work with motivated adults. I am looking forward to working with you.

About Naomi
I am a performer and teacher, specializing in cello and English as a Second Language. I graduated with a bachelor and master degree in music performance (cello) from Ball State University (Indiana). While a student, I had a multitude of teaching experiences ranging from music theory, music history, ear training, and English as a Second Language.

For the past three years, I have taught beginning/intermediate cello students. My teaching experiences began at a non-profit community music camp, Music for the Sake of Music, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. During this experience, I found a passion for teaching beginning students because of the fundamental need to provide a solid foundation. These early teaching experiences also inspired my teaching philosophy. Students can expect to focus on technique while simultaneously working on challenging and
exciting repertoire. Although there is an emphasis on strong fundamentals, I strive to demonstrate the fun and beneficial qualities of studying music. Music should not be a chore but rather a source of creativity and enjoyment.

I am open to teaching students of all ages and levels, although the majority of my experience is in beginning and intermediate levels. I've studied the cello for 14 years. I have experience in tutoring music theory, sight-ear (ear training), and music history. Also, I have been certified through the National College Learning Center Association, completing training that emphasizes engagement of students. Through this training I've learned how to help students learn independently and overcome challenges through trial and error. In music, these skills foster efficient practice techniques that often lead to a quickly developed technique.

During my studies, I was also a classroom instructor of ESL. I taught academic English to university students with various proficiency levels. In these classes, I taught between 2-15 students. This experince strengthened my classroom management but also taught me how to prepare lesson plans catering to individual students. I have received a graduate level certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and in doing so I have studied materials development, classroom assessment/creating assessments, and methodologies for teaching English as a second language. Lastly, I have tutored individuals in ESL, working closely to improve listening, speaking, and vocabulary.

As a performer, I have played in many regional orchestras throughout Indiana such as the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, Muncie Symphony Orchestra, and Kokomo Symphony Orchestra. I also have experience performing outside of a classical setting, especially in recording. In previous years I have recorded on pop albums for independent artists and composers. My most notable experience includes recording with Tony Award winning actress and singer, Sutton Foster on her newest album Take Me to the World.

Studying music is not about achieving perfection; it is about creativity and joy and obtaining skills that transfer to numerous fields. I look forward to meeting you and helping you develop a wide variety of skills that will enrich many parts of your life.

A storm had our session a bit laggy, but we overcame that obstacle. Naomi started simple and went over basic foundational aspects such as parts of the instrument, proper posture and body positioning, and tuning.

After that we moved on to intonation on the C major scale. A lot of musical theory was discussed throughout the lesson and she was very good at explaining the concepts. I already highly recommend her, and will continue lessons, so you should start.

As I speak two languages English and Russian, I can teach both. Russian is my native language, so students can learn Russian from the native speaker. And that is the best way to learn foreign languages. I've been teaching Russian since 2010 and I use my own method, which is not like in boring books. Students have to get what they need to fill the gaps and go further. Who goes, he reaches the destination.

About Barbara
Thank you very much for your interest in my profile. My name is Barbara, I was born and raised in Germany and worked for 15 years as a Training and Quality Executive in the hotel industry, one of the companies being The Ritz-Carlton, one of the best training companies in the world. I was a public speaker for The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg and provided quality and service training sessions for German companies such as Audi and Siemens. I was also in charge of all in-house training sessions and spent up to 20 hours per week in a classroom environment. I transferred with The Ritz-Carlton from Berlin, Germany, to Miami in 2005 and enjoyed working as an Executive at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach until 2009, when I got married and had my daughter.

I decided to fully homeschool my now nine-year old daughter for two years, who, as a result, is fl
uent in German in both speaking and writing. We moved to NYC in 2013 and I was approved by and followed the official NYC Department of Education guidelines for homeschooling. I joined an after-school program at my church in NYC, taught in English, for Grades 1 to 6 as a tutor in 2014 and have been the director since 2015. I work remotely, with a team of eight volunteers and we assist between 8 to 12 children every week. We focus on Common Core English Language Arts - spelling, writing, reading, and Elementary Math. My family and I just relocated to Florida - Tampa this time - and we are enjoying the sun!

My husband is of Japanese origin. Being in an interracial marriage and raising a child in a household where multiple languages are spoken, I truly appreciate and understand the importance of learning about different cultures and languages.

Having tutored for many years and being a language student myself (intermediate Japanese), I know how to keep students interested in learning - and I love to work with different materials such as games, books, worksheets and role play to keep it interesting and motivating. I spend some time in Germany each year and purchase new and stimulating learning materials on a regular basis. If you are interested in beginner or advanced German lessons for yourself or your child, I am looking forward to meeting you, either in person or online!

About Helen
I am a native English speaker and fluent Spanish speaker, having lived in Argentina for three years. I love all of the intricacies of language, which makes me both enthusiastic and patient while teaching.

I am a graduate of the University of San Francisco, with a degree in International Studies and a minor in Latin American Studies. I've spent time in many Spanish speaking countries, like Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Peru, so I am happy to work with whichever type of Spanish you already speak in order to learn English.

Because I myself learned Spanish first in a classroom, I have been through the same things you have in learning English-- looking over grammar worksheets, memorizing vocabulary and then forgetting it the next day. But when you take lessons with me, you'll quickly find that I'm not that kind of teacher.

More than anyth
ing, my goal is to make you feel comfortable speaking English with others. Whether you've taken a few classes in school, or have only heard the language in music, or are looking for someone patient to speak with your kids, I will make sure we build a strong foundation to develop English skills that are reasonable for your level and age.

Here's the bottom line: learning English with me is not a stressful process, but I can assure you will see progress within weeks. The world will open up for you if you dedicate yourself to learning English with me. Please let me know what questions you have, and I will be back to you promptly!
