*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is relaxed and supportive while always aiming to increase the knowledge of the student. My strong technical background combined with a deep sense for wide-ranging musical styles allows me to find what inspires a student initially, and use their interests and strengths to lead them to new discovery and technical efficiency.

Private study covers technical aspects of the instrument, including body awareness as well as reading, theory and musical expression and improvisation.

While each individual learns at a different pace, I strive to point out the progress my students have made because I find this recognition of achievement, no matter how small, is essential in a student's continued love of studying music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
lessons in dedicated music room with all instruments and equipment; upright piano, drum set and percussion.

About Beau
*** Lesson Details ***
I studied music performance at UMass Dartmouth. I have the tools and resources to teach the students what they need to know in order to teach themselves. In lessons, I focus on what the student wants to learn, however for younger students I tend to stick with the methods books for a while.
I am a big fan of applying relevant elements of music theory to the music we're learning: it helps to understand the science behind the music. Noticing patterns and understanding common terminology will make it easier to learn pieces and play with other musicians.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Kimball baby grand piano.
I can teach at my house in Attleboro as well as come to you.

*** Specialties ***
Music theory and classical piano. (Classical and pop)

Beau is patient and kind, and yet persistent and focused with my 8 year old daughter. She has major anxiety issues and is often both frightened by new people and hyper sensitive to correction. Beau navigates her through her fears and shares his love of the music. She has had half a dozen lessons now, and we fully intend to continue lessons with Beau.

Kathleen is a classically trained bass clarinetist and flutist who has over 15 years of experience.

Kathleen then attended the Community College of Rhode Island where she graduated with an Associates in Fine Arts with High Honors. She showed promise in music theory, and her orchestration of the Annie Overture was chosen for the opening of 2011 Hello Broadway!

After receiving her Associates, she continued her studies at Rhode Island College where she received a Bachelors of Arts with concentrations in Music Theory and Music History. She showed a high aptitude for counterpoint and twentieth century theory, and concentrated on female studies in her musicology studies. While atten
ding RIC, Kathleen had the benefit of studying clarinet under Ian Grietzer, principal clarinetist for the RI Philharmonic Orchestra and Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and flute under Mary Ellen Kregler. About Teresa
I was born into a family of musicians. We must have had every style of music floating around every family gathering. I would roam with delight among the Mariachis, Rockers and R&B singers and musicians in my family. As early as 3 or 4 years old, in an effort to get me to quit bugging them, they began to invite me to sing with them.... at least that way I wasn't twirling around knocking down their equipment, or asking a bunch of questions while they were rehearsing or jamming. Music was always and continues to be part of my existence, as normal to me as breathing. I love to sing and enjoy sharing that passion with others. It makes my day to see my students grow in their talents and confidence.

From beginners who just want to sing for fun to the more experienced vocalists, I can help you understand how your voice works and how to ge
t the most out of it.

**In your first lesson, I will get to know you by asking for your vocal history, influences, goals, and style. Most importantly, “What would you like to get out of this lesson?” Every singer has different challenges, needs, and goals, so I approach each student and lesson as a unique experience where the student’s most pressing needs will be addressed.

I’ll give you an honest idea of where your voice needs to grow and then will work with the tools to get there! You will get a personalized lesson plan to practice with. Like a gym workout routine, these exercises will target your weak areas to correct bad habits and build a strong, balanced instrument.

**I will ask you to sing a song…… your latest repertoire, “Happy Birthday,” "twinkle twinkle little star", something just to get an idea of your voice and style. Then I will take you through a few singing technique exercises to quickly assess your strengths and challenges.

**As your technical abilities grow, you need to apply them to songs. The key is to maintain the same easy feeling in your songs that came out in the exercises. Bring in your music and we can work out any kinks and I will also suggest appropriate material in your key and style that will build upon the successes of your exercises. Stylistic and performance coaching is available, but our focus is technique, if you don’t learn HOW to sing, WHAT you sing will always be limited. I will work with you so that as a singer, you will be able to sing through a greater range with more consistency. As a performer. you will become confident that your voice will deliver time after time. My goal is to help you sing in a free, natural manner, while keeping your lessons engaging and fun.

-EAR TRAINING -
As a choir and vocal director, I am trained to listen and pay special attention to all the details including pitch, vibrato, dynamic and harmonies. I will help you learn to listen and gain confidence to "hear" progressions in the music and their voice.

-STYLES/GENRES -
Being a worship leader, choir and vocal director in a major urban church in the Sacramento area, I have over 13 years experience as a gospel artist and contemporary christian singer, singing, performing and recording with many gospel artists and contemporary christian artists, both local and professional. I have recorded and performed with such artists as Israel Houghton, Lincoln Brewster, BJ Putnan, Trent Corey, Darnisha Taylor and the Porter Brothers.

-SINGING/VOICE TRAINING -
I am a Voice Teacher (student) with the Institute for Vocal Advancement. The IVA technique is based on 17th and 18th Century principles of singing developed by the Old Italian School of Singing. Our goal is to train voices to sing in a free and natural manner, smoothly, from the bottom of the range to the top with no breaks or sudden changes in quality. Training in this technique gives the singer access to all dynamics, with tonal clarity and flexibility. Also, training in this technique helps improve a singer's range, endurance, stamina, breath control, resonance, vocal strength and vocal quality across all styles of music without fatigue or damage to the voice. We accomplish these results by training the singer to find a balance between airflow and intrinsic muscular resistance, all within a resting laryngeal posture.

=PERFORMANCE OR AUDITION PREP-
As a former entertainment business professional and singer, I have experience in dance, choreography, stage blocking, performance technique and vocal coaching. I will help you prepare for your performances and/or auditions to present the best YOU, that you can be!

I am very lucky to have Teresa as my vocal teacher. Her passion for music is contagious and when she sings, her soul comes through. She's patient, encouraging and energizing. I love lessons with her, she truly cares for all of her students and she adjusts the lessons based on how comfortable you feel. Not only is she a great teacher but she also has an amazing personality and a tremendous amount of energy.

Within a few months, my vocal range has extended and I learned how to make my voice sound more powerful. Vocal training really doesn't get any better than this!

About Stan
Hi! I am a private music instructor offering lessons both in-studio and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music (Summa cum Laude) and I have over 35 years' full-time experience as an instructor.. I also have nearly four decades of experience as a professional jazz, rock, and theater musician. My experience has taken me from nightclubs to concert stages, as well as on television, radio, and recording studios. Finally, I am a published author with several titles dedicated to helping musicians becoming the best they can be.

**** MY TEACHING STYLE ****

My teaching style is often referred to as laid-back, gentle, informative, and very supportive. My focus is on enrichment, encouragement, and great results. I don't work with “one-size-fits-all” methods. Each lesson is customized to make the most of each stu
dent's own unique abilities, limitations, preferences, and interests. Whether students prefer, or do better, with traditional materials, playing/singing along with their favorite recordings, jamming with me, or anything in between, I am more than happy to accommodate and bring out each student’s best!

I teach real music -- students begin playing music they love almost from day-one. For example, many of my piano and guitar students pride themselves on learning to play every song on Beatles One ... playing right along with the CD! Reading, playing by ear, improvisation (jamming), singing while you play ... there are so many ways to play and avenues to explore in music.

**** MY STUDIO ****

My studio is spacious (very spacious – no cubicles here!), well-appointed, and very quiet. Unlike music stores and multi-lesson facilities, there are no other lessons on the premises, no drummer going crazy on the other side of the wall. This means students can concentrate better and learn faster. There is also plenty of room for parents and siblings who may wish to sit in on lessons.

**** STYLES / GENRES ****

I believe that students make the most progress learning music they love and I am very happy to teach every student the style of music he or she loves most.

My most requested genres are: pop, rock, country, blues, film/television, classic rock, jazz, and classical. Some students arrive knowing exactly what they want, but most are happy to explore various styles that interest them in search of the perfect fit. It is not at all uncommon for a student to spend part of their lesson polishing up a Beethoven piece or jazz standard, then finish up playing the chords to “Hotel California” along with the CD. Another student might start off their lesson learning a Taylor Swift hit, then move over to doing some blues improvisation. Variety is a wonderful thing and it is highly encouraged.

**** MY STUDENTS ****

Over the years, I have taught students from four years old to eighty-somethings. I’ve taught absolute beginners (most of my students start from square-one), hobbyists, seasoned professionals, even a Grammy nominee and a Grammy winner! Many of my young students have gone on to perform in school bands / jazz bands and/or professionally. In all cases, they acquire a skill that will last for a lifetime and provide joy, enrichment, and satisfaction.

Do you have a song or two in your heart. Contact me today and I will help you reach your musical goals no matter what they may be!

About John
I have adopted the philosopher Bennett Reimer’s beliefs. He believed in music for music sake. In other words: Music was an art-form to be admired and not always performance based. Reimer believed in music literacy and wanted every child to understand and know how to read basic music notation. Music is also an interpersonal and multicultural art-form designed to excite and engage all cultures. If you can link any and all subjects to music, you will be able to grasp more students. Knowing how sound waves are made and the history of the piano, is just as important as knowing and demonstrating singing or playing instruments. My own philosophy on performance is, “Not only is it necessary, it is a necessity.”

He is an all-in-one coach with a fully decked out studio that I was also able to take advantage of. Every standing ovation I have received is thanks to mister John Jannis. Kyle gave me a few lessons during my college woodwinds methods class on the sax. As a pianist attempting to learn a wind instrument Kyle's advice and time were a HUGE help to a total beginner like myself. He definitely knows the sax inside and out and without his help my sax test grades in woodwinds would have been considerably lower than what they were. I definitely encourage any students looking for a sax teacher to choose Kyle because of his extensive knowledge on the instrument and approachable nature.

About Ethan
Hello, My name is Ethan Lyons and I’m a graduate of the Bishop Hendricken High School Class of 2017, and I give private drum lessons to people of all ages in the comfort of their own homes. I recently auditioned and was accepted to the University of Rhode Island’s Music program, and will be studying music education in the fall of 2017.
While I love to perform, I believe that my passion is teaching. Over the past year I’ve been teaching and mentoring younger students as well as my friends and colleagues, and I wish to expand my clientele. I give private drum lessons to people of all ages, with a concentration in rudimental snare drum. Over the winter I was invited to march in the 2017 Rose Bowl Parade, Bands of America Honor Band in Pasadena, California as a snare drummer in the drum line. Marching snare drum requires an extreme amount
of meticulous concentration to technique, and I believe that this focus on technique is the key to being a good percussionist, which is what I focus on in the beginning of the private lessons. I also teach basic music theory in rhythms, so that the student can read drum music at a basic to intermediate level.
After I feel like the student has grasped the ideas of the technique, is able to apply it to the snare drum, and is able to successfully read sheet music, we then move over to the drum set and apply the same ideas around the drums. I play professionally in small jazz ensembles, and in a local rock band called “The Naticks”(recently named Best Indy Band in Ri by Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.) I’ve also played in numerous school ensembles, and at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School for some time. The drum set lessons focus primarily on rock and jazz, with some basic lessons on other genres like latin and afro-cuban.
My goal is to foster a love and appreciation of music in people of all ages. Being able to connect with people of all cultures and languages through one universal connection, like music, is something indescribable, and I wish to share my passion with other people.
