Bachelor of Arts in English from St. John's University
With a degree in English Literature I have studied English and British Literature my entire academic career. I know how to help you confidently navigate and come to a more complete and nuanced understanding of what you are reading, the main morals/motifs of the piece, and inspire you to develop your own bold and unique opinions on what you are studying or reading.
Since 2017 I have been assisting students with both American and British Literature in standard college prep high school classes, AP courses, core college courses, as well as advanced Bachelors and Masters level courses.
Bringing a wide range of experience in Writing, English, Communication, Language, and Business, I help to make lasting adjustments that improve writing, communication, and overall efficiency over the long term. My practice started out and continues to function as an academic tutoring practice for

I am an emotive cellist with two decades experience. I have toured internationally performing my original works including London, Paris, and Berlin. As a member of the Pierce Quartet I regularly arrange and perform music for weddings and other special occasions. I love sharing classical music with all levels of students. Hello there! My name is Lauren, and I'm an NYC-based violinist with over 15 years of experience teaching violin. I earned my BM and MM degrees from Eastman School of Music in Violin Performance and perform regularly at venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center.
As a teacher, I adapt my teaching methods on the spot to introduce and reinforce concepts in a patient, enthusiastic, and creative manner tailored to each student. In addition to equipping my students with proper violin technique, students are empowered and develop their communication skills and confidence while fostering a lasting curiosity for learning and a genuine love for the imaginative and expressive capabilities of music.
Lessons generally focus on four major areas: scales, etudes, ensemble parts (orchestra and chamber music), and solo repertoire. Music theory and ear-training activities supplement work in these areas. A portion of lesson time is also devoted to preparing students for ...
In addition to my teaching, I maintain an international career as a performer. I've performed at festivals such as Venice Biennale, Acht Brücken, Newport Jazz, Beijing Modern Music Festival, and Lincoln Center. I've worked with artists and composers such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Richard Carrick, C

BFA Jazz Performance from CCNY
I'm a specialist in Brazilian Guitar and have played and used American Folk Styles to teach finger picking for many years. This includes Travis Picking, Blues and arrangement of all sorts of melodies for guitar. One of the first world musics I played was Irish music and I have a nice repertoire of these melodies to help the student learn how to play a linear melody. Reading is not necessary but I'm expert at getting people to read by using simple familiar music. I have been playing Jazz acoustically fingerstyle for a while and have been a good understanding of Swing guitar styles too. Repertoire and recordings are essential in the process. This I also provide to the student
Billy N. has played Jazz, Brazilian and Classical music in the NYC area for the last 20 years. He has actively taught both finger-style and pick guitar for the last 20 years. Indigo approach to the guitar is exactly what I was looking for: A harmony / melody first approach that is guiding me through theory in a simple, natural way.
I don't need to memorize scale shapes, chords shapes. In a couple of weeks I've learned to understand them and I we're starting to dive deeper.
Overall Indigo is clearly knowledgeable, extremely patient and is able to communicate complex subjects in a simple way. I feel that I am evolving a lot each week and this is even more than I was looking for.
I highly recommend Indigo if you're looking to learn to play the guitar or understand it like I did!"
Love it or hate it, practice is a significant part of every musician’s life. This is especially true for those learning the violin, as there are many complex techniques and skills one must learn. As every musician can attest, finding the time and motivation to practice can be difficult, especially when you’re used to practicing the same songs over and over again. Rather than bore yourself to death, try switching up your practice plan by adding different genres of music--such as roc …

If you're a fan of classic country music, you've come to the right place. Here, guitar teacher Willy M. shares his favorite classic country songs for guitarists... I grew up in the late '70s and early '80s in the rural Midwest when "Hee-Haw," a country television program, was something that everyone knew about. It was the Grand Ole Opry’s rendition of a high-theatrical experience, and a showcase for classic country artists to play their tunes. Willie Nelson, one of my favorite songwr …

Do you play guitar warm ups before you practice guitar? Here, teacher Kirk R. shares three guitar exercises that are perfect for players of all levels. There are literally thousands of exercises and warm ups for the guitar. There are some that are great for beginners who are just getting used to having their fingers on the guitar, and some that are designed to challenge and grow the technique of seasoned players. But who has time to learn thousands of guitar exercises? Wouldn't you rat …
