About Christy
I was exposed to Spanish throughout my childhood from my dad who is from Colombia, and from my great Spanish teachers. After minoring in it at college, I perfected my fluency from living in Spain for 2 years and studying it for 18 years! My adventures with the language led me to pursue an MA in Spanish. I am currently a PhD student in Spanish Literature and work as a university instructor for Spanish conversation. I've also been tutoring individual and small groups of all levels for the past 5 years - Young children, high schoolers, college students, and adult learners! I enjoy leading creative, interactive lessons that are different for each student I work with. My students have gone on to pursue bilingual positions, live in South America, or improve their performance in Spanish class by 2+ letter grades! I truly enjoy the work I do in
helping others learn an important new skill.

Because I became fluent while immersed in the language, I believe language learning comes from speaking and communicating! So, my lessons focus mainly on speaking. I create interactive activities that help students learn speaking skills like making comparisons or ordering food. I also make sure to cover other aspects of the language (grammar, listening comprehension, reading, and writing) through explanations, in-class activities and homework. But, every lesson I teach is different! I tailor them to each student according to level, goals, pace, and learning style. And I make sure to get feedback from students at the end of each lesson to help plan future lessons. Overall, I am a resourceful, enthusiastic, attentive and creative tutor. I strive to challenge students while creating a comfortable and fun learning environment. Students of any level are welcome!

I look forward to possibly working with you... ¡Hasta pronto!

I appreciate her willingness to accommodate me and my schedule and, although I have only had 1 lesson so far, can feel that I am already growing in knowledge and confidence. I really like that she gives me assignments I can work on between lessons so that I can make the most of my lesson time with her.

Hello! Thanks for visiting my Takelessons profile. Let me start off by telling you a bit about myself:
I have been performing for over 25 years as a musician, acting since I was a small boy, and working consistently with public speaking, accent reduction and other presentational skills throughout my career. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many incredible opportunities from touring the world to performing in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most respected artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance skills through acting in various plays, musicals, television, and film.

Performing has absolutely b
een my salvation! Throughout my life it has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might help them to find the same joy. After more than 10 years of teaching, I have so many new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I spent nearly 10 years performing with Disney in California and abroad in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that those experiences, vast and varied as they are, have given the word "performance" a depth that I couldn't have imagined. Those experiences have made me excited to dive into every lesson with fresh ideas that will mesh well with many tried and tested teaching techniques.

Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm proud to have expanded my studio to serving clients all over the world with online lessons via Skype and FaceTime! I get such joy from sharing my experiences with a diverse group of people from so many walks of life.
If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!

For Students of Voice: Teaching Style

Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person.
To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.

Hello, I'm Victoria. I'm a native Californian, and a graduated of Graziado School of Business, Pepperdine University, Malibu CA, with a BA in Business Management and a MBA with a concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship.

During my time in college, I was privileged to gain a great deal of knowledge from some extremely talented and dedicated professors. Their extensive knowledge in their field of profession, real life experiences and the pure honest desire to help others reach their educational goals inspired me. So much so, it inspired me to use my talents to teach as well.

It first started with preparing my nephew for school, he was about 3 at the time, and now I teach my nieces age 4 and 6. I am a strong believer in early education for setting the bases in future educational success. With the knowledge I have gain I inspire and
share my gifts through teaching and tutoring with an approach that makes learning fun.

I'm excited to play a part in helping students grow and reach their fullest potential. I'm flexible and open to parent or student suggestions and resources they can provide. About Emily
I LOVE having FUN while we learn. So, that means singing, laughing, smiling, being silly to break the ice...I incorporate fun activities to learning to help ease the tension of the classroom for the Learner. It is amazing what a little laughter can do to defuse the bewildered, confused 'I don't know what I'm doing?' look on a Learner's face.

I am in love with pronunciation! I strive very hard to instill in Learners the proper (over) enunciated sound of a phonics blend, letter sound or word pronunciation for them to hear what it should sound like and with practice, they can hear themselves and thus find their 'English voice'.

I do believe each Learner is seeking to find their 'English voice' and with time, hearing the language, practicing what they hear, and applying by speaking they will acquire their own 'English voice' and not s
top speaking in their new tongue!

I enjoy teaching very much! It is an innate ability I have with no stress or restraint. I am very creative and thrive in my creativity when I teach; using a diverse amount of objects to assist in the diverse abilities of the Learners.

I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
