As a teacher, my goal is to instruct as well as inspire each student to reach for his or her highest potential. I hope to give each student the tools to progress so that one day they can be their own best teacher, and play with a sound and style that is uniquely their own. Most importantly, I hope to instill a desire to learn and a mindset that the art of flute playing is fun and that it is just as we call it--playing.
Parental support and involvement is key to any child’s progress. All levels of NYSSMA are taught and prepared for perfect scores .

Emily was patient with me as a beginner. Her instructions were very detailed, easily understood and very helpful. Her pace was just right - not too slow, not too fast. She took the time to observe my technique and make corrections gently as needed. I would highly recommend Emily for online violin instruction to students of all ages.

I have gotten so many amazing opportunities working with her, such as joining youth orchestras, playing in recitals, concerts, etc. No matter your level, she always motivates you to do better. Monica is wonderful!
Wow! I was impressed by Monica's recap from her class about reading music. She made things so clear- it helped me a lot, now I can explain them to my own student more easily! I also love her positive attitude!
Sawyer ..
It doesn’t get much better than hearing from my child “Monica is so awesome. At the beginning of the song it goes super low and I couldn’t hit the notes. She helped me with my technique and by the end of the lesson it was easier to hit them! And even though I know I did awful trying to hit them at the beginning she didn’t make me feel like she thought it was bad!”

My kids love their lessons with Monica, she is always positive and supportive with them and I can tell they are improving vocally. Very happy we chose her!

Experienced teacher of 40 years, with a strong background in classical piano. I have been fortunate to have studied with three superb piano teachers throughout my life, and have learned from each how to relate to students and encourage a deeper knowledge of the repertoire, as well as solid practicing and performance technique. I am not intimidating at all and I meet each student where she/he happens to be on the musical journey.

About Will

I'm a professional pianist/ accompanist with over 40 years experience as a teacher and performer. I enjoy helping students progress and increase their ability, as well as their musicianship. If you give time to practicing, the piano will give back much more, and become a rich part of your life.

I have known Will for many years. He is an incredibly talented musician and an excellent teacher. I worked with Will in a number of musical shows and projects in our area and started classical piano with him when I was 30. In a very short period of time, I was playing with confidence and went on to write, record, and release two full-length original pop albums using piano as a main source of instrumentation! Will is highly recommended!

Will Duchon is an excellent piano teacher. He not only teaches technique with great clarity, but most importantly, he possesses the wonderful ability to convey a deep sense of musicality to his students. He does this with patience and passion, with a focus on the joy of musical learning rather than simply the pieces themselves. He knows how to balance challenge with fun, while gently encouraging and motivating his students every step of the way. I highly recommend Will without hesitation!

"Aldrin is very good. I have him teaching my 9-yr old and she has had only 1 lesson so far so it's hard to say too much yet. I would say perhaps though that maybe 9 may be too young to focus on the things that you need to learn in regards to the basics, for example breathing, etc. My daughter finds it hard to follow along sometimes. I think it's going to get better though. Aldrin is very patient."

Pink Floyd Guitar Lesson | How to Play Like David Gilmour

When it comes to incredible guitar players, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd takes the cake. In this article, teacher Bernard M. shows you how to play the guitar just like the legend himself...   Many musicians strive to sound like their heroes. They want to get that special something that makes those legends stand out from the crowd. One of the best ways you can do this is to learn their parts -- beat for beat, note for note. While this can be difficult and time consuming, it's on …

How Does Violin Restoration Work?

What is Violin Restoration? Violins are can be finely crafted instruments made by master luthiers with decades of experience or machine-made student models put together on an assembly line. These are the two extremes that one can encounter when owning or renting a violin.  There are, of course, many variations of these extremes that will affect the cost and value of these instruments. One thing that all of these different levels of violins have in common is that they come from the workshop or …
