I enjoy teaching both children & adults of any age. 2 out of 3 students i have worked
with, just over the past 3 months, now play in their school/ church bands with great commendations (see reviews). I also taught a 56 year old beginner last year.

I understand the challenges upcoming sax players face- momentum, applying music basics, developing clean tone, maintaining rhythm, improvisation - most of which I have MASTERED. So I believe we can work together & help you play familiar tunes within 2-3 weeks. Relax & enjoy your play. Hire me & let's jam!

About Carla
I am a professional Broadway actress, having performed the role of Elphaba in the hit musical "Wicked" on Broadway and throughout the United States. I have been fortunate to have traveled the United States, Canada and Asia with multiple touring productions as well. I perform as a guest entertainer singing my own show on board major Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Disney Cruise Lines most recently.

I began my studies in voice as a young girl in my Grandmother's voice studio in Chicago. I went on to focus on classical music at Interlochen Arts Academy and then Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. I finished my Bachelors Degree at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, choosing to switch my focus from classical music to musical theatre. I also hold a Masters Degree in Theatre Education from NYU's Steinhardt School of Education. I have a 4
0 hour voice teaching certification through New York Vocal Coaching.

I am extremely passionate about singing and have been teaching for almost 10 years. Having started in the world of classical music, my expertise is helping my students develop a solid foundation with which to sing any style of music from. I think it's important that students sing the music that brings them joy so we work on anything from pop/rock/country to jazz to musical theatre. Singing should be an enjoyable experience, therefore I encourage my students to be bold and fearless while we enter into the world of effortless singing! All sounds (cracking, quacking, laughing and crying) are welcome in my studio. Singing can be a huge emotional release at first and I am here to guide you through this journey. Beginners welcome.

I am an actress and martial artist but have been wanting to overcome performance anxiety, including singing in public that I have dreamed of adding to future performances. Carla is so wonderful to work with. She is very understanding, nurturing and is able to explain things in a way that help me understand how to create the right sound. I have been finding this has eased my anxiety in performing not only with singing but in acting and has helped improve my way of speaking. Carla has opened my eyes to how my head, voice, but more importantly breathing are all related. I'm finding myself becoming more self-aware and find it absolutely amazing! I am very grateful to have been referred to Carla and highly recommend working with her.

Carla is a phenomenal voice teacher. Her extensive knowledge and her technical prowess make her an ideal teacher for anyone struggling with their technique. She takes the time each lesson to get to know you and what your voice needs. And perhaps most importantly, Carla makes voice lessons fun! From silly (and helpful) vocal exercises to new rep suggestions, learning from Carla has helped me find joy in singing again. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned profession looking for a tune up, I highly recommend spending some time with Carla Stickler.

I am a professional singer, pianist, songwriter. I graduated from Manhattan School of Music, specifically voice.

Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression.

I teach piano students of all different ages and experience levels. I studied classical piano for 20 years. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student.

I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any music and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you t
o become a better musician!

About Alice
As a trumpet player, I was “lured” on to the path of music theory by a fantastic music theory professor. As a result, when Mannes School of Music in New York City hired me as a Graduate Assistant and offered me many opportunities to teach undergraduate students, I swore to myself that I will try to create more music theorists too – or at least, more music theory lovers. I hope to lead my students through the fascinating music theory journey that I went through. Whatever their major may be, I want to train them to listen and think like true music theorists – to be able to see the score in their heads when they hear music, to be able to hear music in their heads when they read a score; to be able to analyze harmonies, melodies, modulations, motives, and structure at ease, and to, basically, understand what is going on with music.

My stude
nts varied – I enjoyed teaching advanced knowledge such as Schenkerian analysis to high-level students, of course, but I take lower level students equally (if not more) seriously. I think it is extremely important for freshmen to have a good teacher when they take Theory I, because that teacher will be their first impression of music theory. Once a beginner student finds his music theory classes boring, we have lost a potential music theorist. I try my very best to make my classes fun and interesting. I am very tough on myself in this regard: if a student walks out of my class or lesson at the end of the hour without any new knowledge, inspiration, or improvement, then I fail as a teacher.

With beginning students, I will lay out the fundamentals, teaching all of the scales, basic chords, key signatures and time signatures, and gradually integrate strategies for reading music. Depending on what the student is interested in learning, I will pull from my pool of repertoire - we could be studying a Bach Invention at the same time as a Billy Joel song. Classical music is great for technique and in many ways textbook for teaching harmony, but I play and love contemporary music, and will teach anything, as long as there is some form of musical knowledge to be gained from the material.
