He developed a strong connection to music early in life through some family tradition, encouraging parents and many inspiring and influential teachers. Following two years performing abroad on cruise ships and the national tour of Young Frankenstein: The Musical, he was dr

Every student is unique, therefore, lessons are designed to fit the student individually. My teaching style is molded to satisfy each students wants and needs. I also like to focus on developing proper playing habits. I see it as my job to help my students understand and develop the proper techniques to eliminate bad habits in order for them to be the best they can be on their instrument. Lessons are about having fun making music, learning, and improving.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Chairs, music stands and keyboard for harmonic discussions.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to bring their own music notebook and their own instrument. They may also need to purchase their own lesson books when the time comes.

*** Specialties ***
I can help my students learn how to play in a variety of styles ranging from classical (solos, chamber music, etudes, etc.) to jazz (improvisation, harmony, etc.). Whether they're working on a song to play at school, a NYSSMA or All County solo, or just learning for fun, I will help them play to the best of their ability.

I love taking lessons with Bill! I'm returning to clarinet after playing as a child, and Bill has made the entire process really fun and rewarding. He's helped me gain a deeper appreciation for the instrument and the music we're learning, and provides the right amount of challenge to keep me engaged and progressing while still enjoying the process. Bill has really deep music knowledge, which makes him a really versatile instructor. He's helped me even enjoy doing scales!

Very good teacher for my son. He is patient knowledgeable and is able to keep a sometimes unfocused 11 year old, on the topic of learning the saxophone.

My 9-year-old son, Luke, who is on the spectrum (PDD-NOS) studied with David for the better part of a year and the experience was terrific. In addition to being extremely communicative and reliable, David was kind and patient. David kept Luke focused and entertained while also inviting him to think about rhythm in ways that made sense to Luke's brain. We happily traveled from Inwood to "Downtown Brooklyn" for lessons because the level of instruction was that good and, I think, Luke's progress demonstrates that. Luke was bitten by the hockey bug, so we are taking a break from percussion right now, but I wouldn't hesitate to return to David's studio should time allow in the future.

I have been taking lessons with Gabbi for about two months now. In such a short amount of time, I have seen major improvements in my abilities. She provides helpful apps and song recommendations that really expand your vocal range. I record each lesson, as suggested by her, which has made me more comfortable with my voice. Her patience and kindness have allowed me to break out of my shell. She's incredibly knowledgeable and always explains concepts in a way that is easy to understand and replicate. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a vocal instructor!!! Ps- Her accent is adorable!

About Grady
My personal philosophy of music is to explore and learn as much from my students as I can teach them. For me teaching is like going on an adventure to find something together. I've been able to play all over the world and tour with many different musicians and the thing that made the core of every great performance was the human interaction and communication. For me music is about being more human. This is something I just as much try to impart and teach in my lessons as theory and technique. (On a side note I can travel farther than 13 miles as long as it's in the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx).

Grady is teaching me and my girlfriend piano. Has been an amazing experience thus far, and he is fantastic at teaching all "types" of students. I am more of a "play by ear, who cares about reading music" kind of guy, and my girlfriend wants to learn exactly "by the book", and Grady has been able to take a unique approach to both of our lessons. Highly recommended!!
