About Carla
I have been signing since 1998, spending every chance I can among my Deaf friends and immersing myself in the language as often as possible. I received my BA in Music with a certification to teach at Lubbock Christian University in 1998. Later I attended the Interpreter Certification program at Burlington County College in New Jersey from 2009-2011, and during that time took a summer course at Gallaudet University for the Deaf in Washington DC. Then in 2014 I received my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with Instructional Technology from Houston Baptist University. I have been teaching ASL at the high school level since 2011. I am also one of the interpreters for the Deaf at my church in Fort Bend County, TX, outside of Houston, where I am a member and actively involved in the Deaf Ministry.

Please feel free to ask me any questions y
ou have. I'm happy to get back with you, and I look forward to teaching you!

Working with Carla has been incredible! I had a minimal amount of ASL experience before starting lessons and Carla has helped me learn so much in such a short amount of time. She's wonderful at helping you to incorporate what she's teaching into conversations so you can practice using and understanding signs.

I was able to use my short 4 weeks of private lessons on a recent trip where I was able to have a lovely conversation with a member of the deaf community - thanks to Carla.

I look forward to continuing on and developing a much deeper understanding of ASL!

About Sharron
My resume includes graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts and continued studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art until I decided I didn’t want to be a “Starving Artist”. So, I graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Management. My education also includes 27 graduate credits that were leading to a Master’s in Public Administration when I decided to discontinue that path. After twenty-five years in the public sector, I decided to revisit my passion for art in my spare time. As a youngster, I remember wanting to teach art in schools, but I did not want the restrictions that are present in the classrooms and more so today. All forms of art is a freeing practice that is practiced and developed over time.

Highly recommend! Sharron is very talented and encompasses many different skills in the arts. Classes were always enjoyable - I learned and most importantly had a lot of fun! I appreciated how personable she was and feel more confident in my painting skills.

Sharron was an awesome instructor!!! She was very professional. She showed up early to set up for my daughter's paint and sip party. Sharron gave very detailed descriptions to help guide the amateur artists. Everyone enjoyed the personal feedback that was given. Sharron made our party a huge success. I would definitely recommend her services.

I have taught jewelry lessons in different settings - through our church, at booth sales, and with friends. I love to see what ideas the students come up with! I may give the same materials to 5 students and each item is a different work of art. It makes my heart happy to have satisfied learners, so I will do my best to teach slowly when necessary and help define your unique style. Please do not hesitate to ask questions - I love to talk about jewelry!

About Morgan
Greetings!

My name is Morgan and I have been knitting for nearly a decade now. I believe that knitting is a deeply meditative experience and that it can be an emotionally and mentally healing exercise. Also, there are few things more satisfying than casting off a beautiful piece and wearing it the same day!

I have taught many different age groups, from 7 year olds to retired grandmothers who want to knit for their loved ones. I am an ambidextrous knitter (also called mirror knitting) so I happily teach left or right handed or mirror knitting. I do not like to tell people that they are knitting a wrong or right way, if you get the desired results and can translate a pattern to your understanding, that’s great!

I believe in slow ethical fashion and investing in clothing that will last years and be family heirlooms. My most movi
ng experience with knitting was while on a mission trip in Uganda. I was able to teach 30 women and nearly 50 young ladies/children to knit. It was the experience that cemented for my belief that absolutely anyone can learn to knit when given the time, patience, and supplies needed. This is why I am willing to provide supplies to students who are unable to buy their own. I believe in meeting students where they are at and using only positivity to teach.

My teaching style is to be student lead, hands off, and to discourage negative self talk and doubt. When the teacher behaves like the student is 100% capable, the attitude of the student reflects that confidence. It is my sincerest desire to spread the joys of knitting far and wide. Please join me for a lesson soon!

About Jai
I am currently a semi-professional poker player as I am pursuing a Masters of Engineering degree at Cornell University. Before attending Cornell I was located in the Las Vegas area where I played poker for a living. I was making $50/hr playing $1/2 and $2/3 with just a few months of study and commitment.

I first developed a liking to Poker while playing with a few friends at parties or casually. This interest slowly developed into an obsession which prompted me to pursue this as a full time career rather than a hobby. Poker is not a Short term oriented game but a game fundamentally based on getting an edge which has fruitful implications over the long term.

One common misconception is that Poker is all about luck! Of course, luck is a major element, but over the long term you can overcome the short term variance and come out as a big w
inner! Being a full time poker player is a realistic career choice. With just a few months of studying and practice you could be making up to $100/hr playing poker online from the comfort of your home.

I teach poker to students of all different ages and experience levels. I can teach students to learn basic poker rules and theory as well as more advanced concepts which include Game Theory. My course will be customized to each student depending on their goals and experience levels.

As a semi-professional poker player I frequently take trips to local card rooms in the New York area as well as Las Vegas when school permits. I love to mentor students who have a strong passion to take their game to the next level. I want to enable poker enthusiasts of all backgrounds to take a shot at understanding this great game of No limit Hold'em and eventually help them achieve their poker dreams.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better poker player!
