"Molly is the best.
I came to Molly because I had never really sung before, and had wanted to pick it up after playing different instruments. I was pretty
self conscious about the whole idea of singing, and didnt really have that much faith in it. I really didnt know what to expect from singing lessons at all, but Molly really broke things down for me and made the experience positive. She wasn't judgmental or pushy in any way at all. She listened to my ideas of what I wanted to sing, and some of the artists I got inspiration from. Not only that, but she's really awesome because she likes so many different genres of music! I would think that most vocal teachers prefer more classical types of music, but Molly could totally relate to rock n roll, alternative, etc. After my first lesson with Molly I felt 100% more confident about training my voice, and everything I was looking for in voice lessons I found. Thats why I keep taking lessons from her. She set me up with many different exercises to practice by myself, and she does a really good job of breaking things down so that a person with no singing experience can understand everything. Overall, I would recommend anyone, regardless of age or music preference to go to Molly for vocal lessons.
Also, she does skype lessons which is a HUGE help for me considering I live a little far from her. (I didnt know what to expect with that either, but you'll be surprised how well it works).

"I've found the right person to build my career
I already had a new music career underway with two releases on the international marketplace, but I knew i
n order to compete against the masses and gain the attention of more fans, I needed to step things up a notch and push myself far beyond my safety zone. When I spoke with the folks at TakeLessons.com, they told me about Julia, about her credentials, and felt she would be the best fit for me. Julie has been nothing but a blessing! Not only does she have advanced education in music, but she also has the experience to get me where I need to be. Weekly, she has worked with me not only on voice theory and techniques, but I was able to bring my own vocal pieces that we've been working on for my album, and my singing has never been so good! If you're serious and are looking to really change your life with music, this is the person you want and need. I have no desire to go anywhere else."

"The Number One Teacher
Lena has been teaching me for 5+ years and I have learned alot over the short weeks. From "Mary had a little lamb" to "Colors of t
he wind", (And even more challenging pieces too-- of your choice) you have to say that's alot to learn throughout the years. Not only her teaching is excellent, but she teaches you to read the notes --along with tactics on how to do this, it's better than not knowing anything but mechanically remembering the whole song. I would recommend anyone to Lena, being she teaches all ages (and I mean all ages) and provides pointers, practices, basic, intermediate, advanced skills, Lena works on all of these. With Lena, you'll be better at piano than before."

"Corey is an excellent teacher.
I appreciate Corey and his style because it is apparent in how he approaches teaching that he knows what he is doing. He a
dapts the work to the student's abilities, but also challenges with singing in different languages and different styles. He is fun and keeps it interesting but he also respects his craft. I applauded him when he ended the lesson early because the student took a cell phone call."

"First time music student
Learning to play the violin had always been the top item on my bucket list. I am very excited that I have been able begin this j
ourney under a patient, understanding and experienced teacher such as Ashlie. Being a first time student to anything arts or music related I had some reservations, however all fear or hesitancy has been easily cast aside under Ashlie's tutelage.
Ashlie is a very calm and encouraging instructor who is able to implement a multitude of teaching techniques in order to help you progress in your lessons. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can express, in order to better encapsulate the degree of confidence and admiration I hold for her and her abilities, is that I am also going to start bringing my 7 year old niece for lessons and begin her journey with the violin.
I believe Ashlie's personality is perfect for teaching students of all ages. I look forward to continuing my musical practice under her guidance and to sharing this overall experience with my niece."

Lesson was great. John is very patient and pleasant to be around and to follow his instructions is simple and informative. He is Very good at his craft, the most important thing about teaching is having the patience to teach anyone at any age at any level. That alone is a gift.
Teaching music is my passion, it is more than just a career. I value each student and the time I have with them; helping them to explore the world of music. Hopefully after each lesson, my students walk away with a deeper understanding of music theory and have enjoyed their time. I am available to teach Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Bass, Upright Bass, Banjo, Ukulele, Mandolin, Piano, and beginner Drums.
I am a husband and father. I teach all age ranges.
*** Lesson Details *** I approach each lesson differently because every student is unique. During the initial
lesson I will begin to assess the student's ability, determine the best teaching technique for them, and setup a practicing at home guideline. My job is to help the student reach their individual goals and support them along the way. I feel every student deserves to learn to read music and I will concentrate on this with them.
Lessons are taught in my personal music studio; it is a laid-back, family friendly environment. There may be specific books and supplies I recommend purchasing (these will enhance the success of a budding musician). I will most likely also hand out sheet music of songs to practice and may recommend certain artists within specific genres for the students to listen to and familiarize themselves with.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in Classical/Flamenco guitar. I can teach many different styles such as Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc. I am always learning, and am willing to learn so that my students get the best experience possible.

He was great! Learned what I was looking for. Recommend!
Jeff is a seasoned instructor in guitar, songwriting, music performance and music business. He also offers lessons in public speaking, voice-over performance and ukulele. He welcomes students of all ages and experience and has successfully and happily taught beginners to pro-level musicians and recording artists. Jeff is pleased to announce that he is currently accepting Takelessons online students via Skype.
Jeff can teach guitar and songwriting in all styles and is an adept acoustic and electric guitarist. His knowledge of chords is extensive and his acoustic fingerpicking skills ar
e formidable. Jeff structures all lessons around the individual goals and playing level of his students. Jeff's students tend to study with him for quite some time, as his wealth of knowledge, diversity of instruction and patience are extraordinary. Jeff prides himself on customizing every student's lessons based on their particular preferences, goals and skill level. "It's a very personalized kind of instruction, as I never take a cookie-cutter approach to teaching…". Jeff's 3 promises to all students is to give them personalized lessons, be attentive to their needs and goals. and to make them feel like every lesson is worth their investment of time and money. As long as students practice regularly, they can expect to dramatically increase their clarity of playing, their chord "inventory", their musical ear and awareness and play the songs they've always wanted to learn.
After honing his craft as a songwriter and performer, Jeff created and taught songwriting and music business classes at colleges, universities, and music schools throughout the country for many years. Some of the places he taught include UCLA Extension, Santa Monica College, Pasadena City College and The Harrison School Of Music. When asked to summarize his views on teaching and music: "Teaching and playing music always puts a smile on my face; especially when I see that the student is having fun, learning what they want to learn and feeling the passion about music that motivated me to pursue my own musical career".
As a working singer/songwriter/guitarist, Jeff is known for his memorable melodies, intelligently crafted lyrics and heartfelt vocals. His compositions have earned him over 35 awards from various national and international songwriting contests and he's a former staff songwriter for the long-standing New York City-based publisher, Bourne Music. He has also won best music video awards at 3 international film festivals.
Some of the artists that Jeff has been compared to as a guitarist and vocalist include Keb' Mo', James Taylor, Kenny Loggins, Ry Cooder, John Mayer, Bill Withers, Jim Croce, and Don Henley.
Jeff is a NJ native, but lived and performed in Los Angeles for many years, where he worked in the studio or shared the stage with well-known artists such as Dave Koz, Norman Brown, John Daversa, Hiroshima, Little Richard and N'Dea Davenport.
Jeff catalog of over 450 songs and compositions spans virtually every genre, but many of his tunes are amalgams of pop, blues, jazz, R&B, country and rock. Quite a number of Jeff's songs have appeared in film and TV. One that Jeff is particularly proud of, is the dynamic pop ballad, "Journey Of The Heart" (co-written by Jeanne Smith), which was licensed by the N.C.A.A. (National Collegiate Athletic Association), who deemed it "the official anthem" of their NCAA Hall Of Champions facility in Indianapolis.
Jeff has commercially released 4 CD's of his original material: The most recent of these is his 2013 release, "Blujanova" (a merging of blues, jazz and bossa nova), which was praised by platinum selling and Grammy-nominated jazz star, Dave Koz: "Jeff's voice is so clean and pure...the production is lovely...warm and inviting...I love the interesting and surprising takes on some classics too, especially 'I Feel Good'…that brought a smile to my face!". The other CD's stretch into other genres. "Truthteller" (bluesy pop/rock and singer/songwriter material) "Me, Myself, and I" (acoustic) and "The Spin" (pop, rock, and country-tinged singer/songwriter material). All of Jeff's albums are on his label, Relevant Records. The late great John Braheny, author of the best-selling "The Craft And Business Of Songwriting (Writer's Digest Books), gave high praise to Jeff's CD, "The Spin", calling it "honest, crafty, melodic and the songs are all exceptional". Patch.com called Jeff "a consummate songwriter".
*** Lesson Details *** At the first lesson, I will ask you to tell me what songs you want to play and artists you want to play like and I will set the table for that by providing the chords you'll need, chord and scales and exercises to enable you to play them and guidelines and tricks on how to make it happen as quickly as possible. I know a wide variety of songs in all styles and styles, including current hit songs as well as pop, rock, blues, jazz, country songs. if you have a song or artist that I don't know already, I will learn it (often on the spot) and if not right then, at the next lesson. I have taught my students to play songs by artists as varied as Taylor Swift, U2, Jason Mraz, Adele, Eric Clapton, Django Reinhardt, Doc Watson. And that's just naming a few.
I always make it clear to my students at the first lesson: "There is no such thing as a stupid question". I want you to feel comfortable to stop me at any time to clarify what I am teaching you, ESPECIALLY if it is too difficult or vague. I pride myself on always being organized for your lesson and making sure that you grasp whatever it is I am teaching you. The goal is to get you to be able to play what you want as quickly as possible. This will take practice and dedication on your part, but I will do everything in my power to help you get there.
I never force anything on any of my students. but I feel it would be beneficial for you to learn to read music OR read tablature and chord diagrams. You tell me which one and we'll go in that direction. If you'd like to read music, then we can decide on a book for you. I have used Hal Leonard instructional books (with CD's! this way you can play with a backing track and get a sense of rhythm, which is very important), but I'm open to other method books you might have or like.
After 3 to 6 months, you will feel you are significantly more skilled on the guitar than you were before we started lessons. You will know more chords (and move from chord to chord), be able to do at least some basic fingerpicking and be able to read some music or tablature.
*** Specialties *** Acoustic fingerstyle guitar (a la James Taylor, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Keb' Mo', Jason Mraz, John Martyn, Jim Croce, etc.
Blues guitar a la Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Keb' Mo', Jorma Kaukonen, Ry Cooder, etc.

Songwriting (any aspect and any level; musically, lyrically, structurally, etc.)
the songs of Taylor Swift---quite a few of my younger students want to play her material, so I have about 15 songs ready to teach you and always learning more (by popular demand)
Adapting songs that are keyboard-based and creating arrangements of them for acoustic guitar. Examples include songs by Adele, songs by Elton John, Irina Menzel's huge hit song from "Frozen", John Legend's "All Of Me", Coldplay's "Viva La Vida", etc.

Anastassia was patient and kind with my 12 year old daughter who had never had singing lessons before. When my daughter started to feel nervous she quickly calmed her and had her sing one of her favorite songs along with a you tube video of the artist. She helped her with her pitch and range and breathing too.

I have been a music teacher for over two decades, teaching individual piano lessons, group workshops on piano technique/music theory/music performance, and early childhood music. To me, teaching is about the person (student), not the curriculum or material - my focus is always on the student first, the material second. I like to engage and motivate students based on their interests and learning styles. I am always looking to develop as much rapport with my students as possible and connect with them personally and also through music.
My training background was initially in piano performan
ce, with a BM from Manhattan School of Music and a MA from Queens College (CUNY). Currently I am in the doctoral program in Music and Music Education at Teachers College Columbia University.
I am always looking forward to having fun with my students in lessons, and learn and grow through the wonder and joy of music!

My son has been taking lessons with Central Jersey Piano for the 5th year now. Over the years, through Ms. Catherine's guidance, he has developed proper piano fingering skills and habits. He has learned a lot of classical music and Ms. Catherine also stimulates him by suggesting fun pieces of his interest such as video game music. He looks forward to his lessons every week.
