Hello, future students!

My name is Jihye and I teach Piano and the Korean language. I grew up in Seoul, Korea and currently living in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from Kyung Hee University and earned a Master's degree at the California Institute of the Arts.

I have been teaching piano for 20 years and Korean at Korean language schools. Recently, I worked as a guest speaker at the new social media platform Clubhouse that launched as a new program at TakeLessons. In the past, I have met many K-pop and K drama lovers so I decided to share my culture and language with them. 

So far I have met many passionate and enthusiastic students whom I feel very lucky to work with. I offer a personalized curriculum to each of my Korean and piano students. Also, help students who prepare piano level exams such as CM, ABRSM, and SATII, TOPIK for the Korean language.  I sometimes use clips of songs and dramas to help students who learn Korean.

Jihye does a great job at teaching the basics. By the second to third class I was familiar with the alphabet and could already read certain phrases and has only improved since then. At times explanations are a bit difficult to understand and lesson transitions can be unclear. Jihye makes sure to correct mistakes and continue advancing each week. 

I was extremely nervous before my first lesson but Jihye made me feel at ease. I’ve only had two lessons so far but she’s a great teacher and very patient. Easy to build rapport with and friendly environment for learning. The Korean textbook has great visuals for each lesson.

Jihye 선생님 is an excellent teacher. She is well-versed and helpful in correcting my pronunciation. I am glad I am learning more about Korean history while growing my vocabulary.

Jihye is amazing! She's patient and is great. I knew very little of piano and she was able to pick up where I left off. I'm definitely coming back for more classes with Jihye.

My daughter enjoyed the lesson. We will sign up again.

🎹 So far I have had two lessons with Jihye and she has been great. She immediately found out what I wanted to learn and where my skills were at, and then started giving me exercises to move me in the right direction. I really like how much knowledge she has and how clearly she teaches. I've been excited to play every day since our first lesson.

Jihye is a wonderful teacher!! She is super accommodating and flexible, responds to needs / requests quickly, and is so thorough, patient, and helpful as a teacher.

I speak Korean fluently but my foundational grammar/spelling and reading/writing were never great. At the same time, my boyfriend is learning Korean for the first time with no experience. I was looking for someone who could accommodate both our experience levels while teaching not just about the language, but also about Korean culture - and Jihye more than delivers! We have so much fun learning Korean every week and I'm so grateful to have found her!

2 lessons in and it's been awesome. She works with you on the level you are at. Explains everything really well and makes learning fun. Highly recommend.
