Mandarin Chinese

I graduated from the University of Delaware with a master's degree in food science. I have a strong passion for science as well as for teaching.

As a native Mandarin Chinese speaker, I am passionate to teach anyone who wants to learn the Chinese language. I have taught beginners who had no Chinese background, as well as college students who majored in Chinese. I believe interest is the best teacher, so it is the focus of my class to raise students' interest in learning the language. I also believe patience and encouragement are key factors in teaching.

I have played the violin and the viola for over 20 years and have gained many national competition awards. I was the chief violist in the orchestras in my middle school and in college. I teach violin and viola for beginner and beginner-intermediate level students.

This class is focused on teaching students the most important element of Chinese - Pinyin. Students will learn how to speak the initials and finals in Pinyin and eventually read Chinese words based on Pinyin.
