Whether you are an aspiring artist, a total beginner, a kid who loves art, a teen building a competitive portfolio, or someone who's always wanted to learn to draw, I will help you develop your technical skills and find your voice as an artist! In our lessons, you will draw from life, exploring composition, concept, and mood through creative assignments. You will train your eye as you draw still lifes, landscapes, portraits, figures, and beyond! I will show you examples of historical and contemporary drawing as we practice a range of techniques. You will gain confidence through practice and experimentation as you work towards developing your own style as an artist! And most importantly, you’ll have fun! I can’t wait to work with you!

Age-Appropriate areas of instruction include:
-Painting Techniques such as Layering, Mixing, Washes, and Glazing.
-Understanding Composition.
-Understanding Color Theory: Opposites or “complementary colors” on the color wheel; Painting with medium tones, so that highlights and shadows can be applied easily. Using multiple colors equals “depth” and “interest.”
-How to Mix Paint: Mixing using the palette knife, brush, on palette, or on painting.

I am a recently retired public high school art teacher and also have experience teaching middle school. I have many many years of experience helping students succeed at all traditional mediums of art as well as graphic design. I received many awards for my teaching including two "teacher of the year" awards.

I have been studying drawing, design, and arts for more than 10 years. I have AAS degree in Illustration. I teach beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. I can customize the class to individual students, and focus on quality of each class. I can teach in various style to improve a specific skill that you want to work on! I can speak Korean and English.

I want to help you to become a better artist and have fun while you’re doing it! My style of teaching is to tell you about powerful ways to approach your drawings that will boost your technical ability as fast as possible. In other words, I’m going to help you to make your art look like the thing you’re drawing. But I won’t rush you through it! We’ll take as long as you need to get a good understanding of the most important aspects of the lesson. We can focus on what you are most interested in learning about. Want to learn how to draw faces better? Or maybe improve your proportions for drawing a full body person? Pets, landscapes, still life, it’s your choice because I work for you. Each of these are unique subjects, but there are certain fundamentals that apply to all of them which I will help you with to give your drawings more of a “pop out” look!
