Ms. Janai was the best tutor I have ever had. No matter the day, or time she was always there to help me out. Either it was math, science, writing, etc. she'd help me with every subject no matter how long it took for me to get it right, every subject was like her first nature. She was amazing teaching in person and just as good online. I've never met another tutor like Janai, she understands what you're going wrong and what your difficulties are, but she always manages to turn those difficulties around and make you better at understanding what you need to do better in order to succeed. If you're looking for an outstanding tutor Janai is the way to go!

Karl was explained things in a way I completely understood. He patiently and thoroughly addressed all my questions; and, didn't mind my interruptions or requests to repeat himself.

About Aksana
PhD. in Russian Language and Literature, Immanuel Kant State University of Russia (Kaliningrad State University), Russia, 2002 Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Russian and Belarusian Languages and Literature (Diploma with honors), Belarusian State University, Belarus, 1995.

I am a native Russian tutor. Now I live in NYC and teach Russian as foreign language in CUNY.

I teach the Russian language from the very beginning - elementary, basic level - to higher levels.
The most important goal of my classes is that you enjoy our meetings by keeping interest and feeling the progress.
Individual approach to each student is the key point to the success. We study the vocabulary, grammar, and situations related to the student's current activities. As a result all my students successfully use the learned skills for their professional
or private life.
During my lessons I'm trying to reach the best balance between speaking, listening, grammar, conversation and other aspects of the language.
I can help you understand the system of the Russian language, so that you were not limited by phrases that you learn during the lesson, but could make your own sentences, paragraphs, express your thoughts in different ways.
We will pay enough attention to grammar, pronunciation, reading and speaking.
I will explain you the way Russians talk in their everyday life, because some Russian foundations and manners differ from American ones.
As your personal instructor, I'm going to give you an honest feedback on your strengths and weaknesses and design a curriculum that fits your needs.
I'll be happy to help you learn the Russian language. Feel free to contact me and ask any questions.
Thank you for your interest - I look forward to seeing you in my classes!

Policy: All changes in the schedule (except emergencies) should be made 24 hours before the lesson, otherwise the lesson will be marked as missed.

Alexandra is delighted by her opportunities to teach and help her students succeed in achieving their personal goals and ambitions. Please contact her with any questions or interest in taking lessons. She teaches the following subjects:

VIOLIN
Alexandra has been studying the violin for over 20 years, taking lessons primarily from Peggy Wheelwright and John England. She played in the youth violin group Pizzicato Strings and was concert master for her middle school and high school orchestras. Alex completed a music minor at the University of Ut
ah in December 2016 and enjoyed four years with the University Campus Symphony.

A few of Alex’s favorite pieces include Csardas (V. Monti), Symphony Espagnole (Lalo), Theme from Schindler’s List (John Williams) and The Devil Went Down to Georgia (Charlie Daniels).

WRITING
Words are Alexandra's passion, and she graduated in December, 2016 with her Honors B.A. in English. KOREAN
Alexandra learned Korean while serving in South Korea for a year and a half as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While there she taught and studied daily in the Korean language, and upon returning home she started the Korean Studies minor at the University of Utah, which she graduated from in December 2016.

Mr. Brooks was incredible instrumental music instructor for my son. As my husband (a drummer) was unable to teach my son we did not think he had a “knack” for drumming. However, with Mr. Brooks’ guidance he excelled and was even accepted into our school district’s gifted and talented music program. Mr. Brooks is a talented educator who passes along his passion and excitement for music. My son looked forward to his lessons every week and became a talented player with his guidance.
