I didn't realize how much I need Lauren in my life and in my MCAT studies until I took a chance on her - and it has been the greatest decision in my career. Initially, I was wary over how our lessons will pan out given that they were all going to be online. Technical issues and conveying information over online platforms were never a concern during my time with her. She was adept, flexible, and always took the time to double check my questions to make sure the correct information was being learned. She was never afraid to be serious and real with you and she is 100% there to help you achieve the goal that you set out for yourself, practically speaking and emotionally. She is my fiercest cheerleader and she's been a rock in how I've been processing the emotional and mental turmoil that is the MCAT exam. I am a 520 scorer, a previous physics TA, a 3.9 UCLA grad, a member of the National Tutoring Association, and an all-around darn nice human. As much as I'd love to brag that my success came easily, I'd be lying. Yet, being a tutor that struggled has made me by far a better teacher. I had to hone my strategy, get creative with mnemonics, and plan my time impeccably: all things I love to pass on to my students. Lauren prides herself on being a well-rounded mind as she has education ranging from the humanities to the hard sciences. Her initial degree was a double major in Theater and Literature from New College of Florida where she received a full-scholarship plus a merit stipend. After spending years as a professional actor in Los Angeles, she returned to school at UCLA for a post-baccalaureate degree as a pre-med and maintained a 4.0 GPA. She went on to score a 520 on the MCAT and become a full-time tutor. She teaches the MCAT, physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology. She also specializes in admissions essay preparation. She is a current resident of New Orleans where she revels in community clothing swaps, crawfish boils, and being the president of her weekly Nerdy Book Club.

Kevin is an excellent tutor! He provides both a great mix of listening, speaking, and practical learning. I have been working with Kevin for almost two years, he has an incredible gift for teaching. He’s patient, supportive, and really knows how to motivate his students. Difficult subjects like organic chemistry and physics, which proves to be a challenge to so many of the students was made understandable to me by the able guidance and teaching by Kevin.

Words cannot express how awesome Simeon is....but here is an attempt.  As parents, my wife and I cannot say enough great things about Simeon.  Our child was preparing for his second attempt at the SAT's.  Our child has a 4.0 GPA but did not do as well as he would have liked on the SAT's his first time.  Our son was hesitant at first to work with a tutor since he thought he could prepare on his own and improve his score but as parents, we decided he needed outside help.  That's when we found Simeon. I currently work as a professional writer and tutor. I've lived all over the United States, although I grew up in Scotland of all places. My scores on the SAT and ACT were perfect (1600 and 36 respectively), but I too had to work hard to get there, so I know what it's like when you're just starting out.

Over the years, I've studied with students suffering from ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, speech disorders, and depression; I personally grew up inured to social anxiety, so I can always empathize.

Some tutors will tell you that they know all the tricks and shortcuts. But really, there are no tricks. No shortcuts. Just hard work and sleepless nights and talking to yourself while brushing your teeth in the morning trying to remember the quadratics formula.

Sarah is a first year PhD student at Thomas Jefferson University, College of Life Sciences. She is in the Biomedical Sciences umbrella program with a focus in the Biochemistry, Structural, and Molecular Biology Program (previously Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology). She received a Master's of Science in Medical Sciences from the University of Delaware and previous to that received a Bachelor's of Science in Applied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. She is currently conducting research on the DNA mismatch repair system in neurodegenerative diseases. Previously she served as a researcher in a cellular biology lab in which she focused her research on the role of focal adhesion molecules and actin binding proteins in the terminal erythropoiesis process. During this time she also took on a significant role for the Delaware Institute of Biotechnology Flow Cytometry Core where she acted as a research assistant and a teaching assistant for a flow cytometry 1 class. Other research experiences included research in formulation of SARS-COV-2 vaccine in plants, roles of various types of HPV in pathogenesis, and structure of the domains in DnaB. Besides extensive time in the lab she also participated in various mentoring opportunities such as being a peer educator to teach healthy habits to students on campus and a mentor to freshman students in her academic department. Sarah is also a member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). She has experience with biology instruction at both beginner and advance level and would love to help expand your knowledge of the biological field!
