Get Excited for Spanish lessons in Fort Worth!

Fort Worth is a proud cowboy town, but it's also teeming with Hispanic history and full of great opportunities to speak, hear, and read Spanish. From long-running holiday traditions to iconic Tex-Mex joints, it's easy to supplement your Spanish lessons in Fort Worth with immersive and authentic experiences.

16 de Septiembre Parade

For five decades, Fort Worth has celebrated Mexican Independence Day — and kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month — with a downtown fiesta that gets bigger every year. Other southwestern cities ring in the holiday with parades, but nothing beats the festive spirit that fills Sundance Square every September in Fort Worth. The 16 de Septiembre Parade winds along Main Street, Houston Street, 4th Street, and a few other downtown stretches, filling the city with flags, costumes, floats, horses, banners, and other colorful contributions from local businesses and Hispanic organizations.

Founded by local businessman Richard Salinas, the parade is one of the country's oldest celebrations of Mexican history and heritage. Naturally, it's also a fantastic opportunity for students who already take Spanish lessons in Fort Worth. With a bilingual Grand Marshall, floats blasting Spanish-language music, and Hispanic dancers representing centuries of Mexican traditions, you'll be fully immersed in the community and culture of native Spanish speakers.

Joe T. Garcia's

If you enjoy combinations of southwestern and south-of-the-border flavors, treat yourself to the best Tex-Mex that Fort Worth has to offer. It doesn't get more iconic than Joe T. Garcia's, a sprawling local landmark that's famous for its gorgeous architecture, strong margaritas, and handmade fajitas. The cash-only establishment opened in 1935 and has thrived ever since, with mouth-watering family secrets passed down through generations of owners.

Joe T. Garcia's is divided into several different outdoor and indoor dining areas, and they all replicate Spanish and Mexican building traditions that will make you forget you're in the United States at all. La Casita is distinguished by vine-covered brick walls and elegant dining tables, while Zócalo recreates the festive feel of its namesake — Mexico City's main plaza — with Aztec mosaics and a sunny outdoor bar.

Tina's Cocina

Though the Dallas-Fort Worth area is farther from Mexico than any other major metroplex in Texas, the border feels close enough to taste when you dine at Tina's Cocina. In this intimate, family-owned taqueria on Magnolia Avenue, you order at the counter and wait while Tina gets to work in her kitchen. This isn't Tex-Mex; this is Mexican cuisine, through and through, and the menu is full of familiar and advanced Spanish words.

Made-from-scratch menu items include fish tacos with sweet corn tortillas; barbacoa with authentic yucca and ribs, rather than American-style beef check; shredded carne deshebrada with fresh tomatoes and peppers; and straightforward options such as fajitas, vegetable tacos, carnitas, and other traditional dishes.

Sol de Luna

Last but not least, get a taste of South America right next door to Texas Christian University. At the alumni-owned Sol de Luna, Venezuelan and Mexican cuisine mingle on a fresh and original menu that's dominated by easy-to-eat sandwiches and wraps. Arepas, empanadas, pepitos, and other classic Venezuelan foods are often cooked with Mexican ingredients or techniques, giving you a unique multicultural experience.

Inside, the decor is inspired by Mexico's Day of the Dead celebrations and Venezuela's art deco architecture. If you want to brush up on your Spanish after studying the menu, just hang out here with a cup of fresh coffee. You'll run into college students who are taking Spanish lessons in Fort Worth too, along with Mexican and South American families who want a taste of home — or a fun place to watch the World Cup.

Thanks to all of these fun opportunities to flex your Spanish skills, there are plenty of reasons to be excited to get out on the town after your Spanish lessons in Fort Worth!

Authentic. My desire is to create lessons that use authentic resources to help develop language acquisition. I want to use infographs, articles, and videos that cover today’s issues and topics in Spanish speaking countries. Less emphasis on grammar and more emphasis on communication. However, I have taught level one Spanish at junior high and high school levels going on 4 years now and will be able to help you excel in your course work.

About Jordan
When I was in high school I struggled with Spanish but through passion and determination I overcame my struggles. I am now thankful for how much I struggled because I throughly understand how others struggle and why they struggle. Those struggles have made me a better teacher.

I love the beauty of the Spanish language and have enjoyed being a student of the language myself. I practice daily in conversation, in song, and/or via text every day in order to continue improving. As opposed to solely memorizing facts, I can help beginning students learn to effectively communicate in Spanish in a practical way.

About Bridget
Hello! My name is Bridget. I love helping others to reach their goals! How? I believe in having a friendly attitude, actively listening to what the student would like to accomplish, and developing a practical game plan to help each student fulfill his or her objective. I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Bridget has been a saving grace for my family, helping my 11 yr old daughter with math. Through her calm demeanor and patience she managed to help my daughter bring a failing math grade to a solid B. Bridget has been able to teach my daughter in a way that connects with her. Facing the rest of this long school year seems much easier knowing we have Bridget to help get us over those pesky humps with the dreaded 6th grade math.

The students I have since tutored in Spanish have also shown tremendous amounts of progress - from improving grades and increasing confidence in class to improving fluency and communication skills in the workplace. I am patient and perceptive to the individual learning style of each student. This ability to personalize lessons is one of the many things that make me an excellent Spanish tutor. I recognize that everyone does not learn the same way, and I have a very individualized approach to teaching.

When appropriate, depending on a student's skill level, I can tutor entirely in Spanish. But regardless of the level a student is at, I have many creative strategies to use. Whether you're a beginner or in advanced Spanish, I am skilled at adapting my lessons to match your level. I have also developed hundreds of resources over the past few years, which I am happy to share with you.

During lessons I will provide constant feedback and adjust lessons depending on your needs and level of understanding. Students have different learning styles so I will teach lessons that incorporate visual, verbal, and written teaching methods. Students can expect a professional, enthusiastic, and patient teacher that is serious about students learning the subjects material and also makes learning fun.

About Belinda
I am a professional working artist and I am also an elementary piano teacher for an after school program here in Riverside. I obtained a degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley where I specialized in multimedia installations that included large scale paintings and sculptures. Due to the versatility in my own work from large to very small scale paintings I have acquired techniques and skills for every scale in between.
I am a strong believer in self expression and visual literacy which gets stronger with the formulation of concepts one builds through inspiration for each painting. I enjoy teaching and learning what my students' interests are and what motivates them. I can help you learn specific skills for abstract paintings to portraits.
Through research I have also learned that individuals benefit greatly from cre
ative freedom thus performing better in other academic subjects, learning healthy ways of expression, and through the therapeutic effects of painting.
If you are looking to work with someone who loves what they do, who is patient, motivational, and can teach you basic to advanced skills give me a call and let's get painting!
