It's imperative that the student understands phonics as well as the parts of speech and sentence structure, i.e., syntax, tone, diction, use of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, etc.

Students receive a step-by-step lesson plan or book with each lesson  The study focuses on a specific aspect of language use, e.g., life skills, literacy, or vocational and workplace English competencies. Very defensive and irresponsible instructor. He messed up scheduling intentionally to avoid issuing refund for unused lessons. No room for customizing his lessons for client’s needs. 

As a professional adult, my goals were improving the listening and speaking skills and learning business idioms which I could utilize in the real business world, and I trust that I communicated with him about my goals at the beginning. 

However, his lessons were more focused on phonics pronunciation and grammar to build up the ESL foundation. I followed his procedures for the first 4-5 lessons, but I was not satisfied working the same topics/chapters three times. It was not like a review exercise since he explained very thoroughly and even made same jokes on a specific page. When I reminded him that we worked this before, he was upset.  

Regarding grammar exercise, I have no big issues in writing business letters and have good amount of knowledge about the sentence structure. I didn’t want to spend more time to identifying some grammar terminologies such as “Pronoun, Predicate Nominative, Compound Subject, etc.” When I asked some questions about the necessary of these specific grammar for my goals, he was upset again, shouted, and yelled to me saying that I was not respecting him. He asked me do not question about his lesson procedures. He was very defensive. I couldn't continue to take his lessons because his lessons kept wasting my time. 

Since I paid for one-on-one lesson with him to accomplish my goal, I believe I have right to suggest customizing the lessons which work more efficiently for my goals. After having the unpleasant and unacceptable situation twice, I decided to cancel my 10 lessons purchased via Takelessons. ( I purchased 20 in total). I wanted to discuss this issue with him face to face, but he cancelled my schedule 5 minutes before the lesson.

I purchased 10 lessons from him in August before I purchased additional 10 lessons via Takelessons in November. I clearly asked him both in written and verbal that I wanted to complete my first 10 sessions first before using Takelessons. However, I realized that he applied my lessons to Takelesson platform although my initial 10 lessons were not even completed. He defended himself he didn’t make promises on how payments were to be applied. OMG, I was the purchaser and I have the right how to apply my lessons in order. He completely messing up my lesson scheduling, then he refused to issue refund for any unused lessons insisting Florida Statue FEC Statutes 501.615. There was no such information on written and verbal when I entered into lesson agreement with him. Consequently, he refused to refund my 6 unused lessons from his end. I only got the refund of 5 classes from Takelessons (I supposed to get the total refund for 10 lessons from Takelessons if he scheulded my lessons correctly). 

If he offer you to buy more lessons directly from him, do not buy any. It was a totally awful experience having him.

Tom gives great insights into business sales and marketing. He is always on time and prepared for our sessions and he has helped me achieve some great success.  Great coach.
